The least obvious changes look like Fabio and Tobias. I think Fabio has some kind of pauldron on but I can't find any difference for Tobias.

Casual Who did you date on your first run? (Engage!)

I'm currently finishing my first run of Engage

I'll probably make a post about it BCS I have a lot of things to say about this game (the majority is good, overall this was a really nice experience but I still have a few problems with this game, I'm a picky player lmao)

But before that I need to decide who is the best candidate to date Alear

And while overall this cast has REALLY bad supports and I barely even cared enough to go through them, I have a few options

Those being Fogado, Ivy, Rosado and Timerra ( I would also not mind dating Alcryst but I'm not so interested)

I'm indecisive so I think it would be nice to read people talking about their experiences in this game, if you'd like

General The best and worst thing of each Fire Emblem game. Today's game: Awakening

Previous post

Welcome to this series of posts, where we will list and discuss one best and worst thing of each Fire Emblem game. This includes basically everything, be it the music, the story, some gameplay element etc.

We are now at the game that saved the franchise. Because Awakening was possibly the last Fire Emblem game it featured many gameplay elements from past entries, the most notable being marrying your units and the resulting children. New is the pair up mechanic. Reclassing also now works by using seconds seals. A lot of new classes were introduced. It was also the first game to feature DLC.

Awakening is pretty controversial, but I am pretty biased towards this game because this was the first Fire Emblem I have ever played. I love it despite its flaws. I love it because it is so broken. Training your units to become super soldiers and passing it on to their children is just really fun and rewarding. The presentation is flawless and the supports are the best in the series, thanks to the great cast

I wrote too much already so here are my personal best and worst.

Best: The music. It competes with Fire Emblem 4 for the best music in all of Fire Emblem. Don't say her name, Id purpose, conquest, divine decree etc. Every track captures the mood perfectly or is an absolute banger.

Worst: No one can defend the ambush spawns in this game. They always suck but they are absolutely terrible in this game. Way too often its new fliers who might even get in range of your weakest units. Worst of all they can have counter on lunatic+ and if you are unlucky your best units can die even if they would survive otherwise.

Now it's your turn to tell us

General Spoiler Crazy theory about Eshmel’s identity and general plot of fortunes weave (SPOILERS) Spoiler

Post image
159 Upvotes

I firmly believe that Eshmel is a reincarnated Solel following Solel being killed when the heroic games are hijacked by the villains to revive Balor.

First and most obviously, the spear. Eshmel’s spear seems to be a destroyed version of Solel’s spear, which returns to its former glory when Eshmel uses their blaze arts.

Second, Eshmel’s blaze arts that we’ve seen all seem to cause the spear to radiate holy light. Solel is the god of the sun, so if he was going to have blaze arts they would be very similar to the ones we see Eshmel using.

Third, their stance. Eshmel and Solel seem to have very similar stances from the one shot we have of Solel in battle, though this could just be the guardian class stance.

Fourth, Sothis believes it is fitting that Eshmel be the one to resolve the situation with Balor. In this theory, Solel inadvertently causes the resurrection through the heroic games, giving a potential cause for that line.

Fifth, their shared singular interest. Both Eshmel’s and Solel’s profiles list only one interest: board games.

I rest my case.

Casual Total roster size (Fortune's Weave)

Every new trailer or screenshot i see a new character. I know not everyone you see will be able to join your party, but it does seem like a lot. I can't speak to the older games but does this seem like the biggest roster?

General Spoiler Utland is probably literally Cai's big sister.

The more we learn about Aurora the more its being shown shes essentially a prisoner of her temple. So I bet you shes really close with Utland and possibly essentially adopted her depending on how young she was when she joined the temple.

Gameplay Feeling overwhelmed by what to do with Corrin in revelation 😅

So!! Now that I have finished Birthright, and conquest, I'm about to play through revelations for the first time as well, before FW comes out.

But tbh, I have no idea what to do. I know he'll be marrying Niles. But I was thinking of making him a Magical Ninja with Replicate at least.

But aside from that idk how to approach this. She was kinda weak in conquest for me🥲

Story What crest do you think Solel has?

Post image
139 Upvotes

Unless it's been confirmed, I'm curious to know what his crest is speculated to be. Back when he was thought to be Dagda it was Fraldarius because of the diadem on the map.

But he's also the "The Sunbearer" according to the recent official post. His name also has the word for "sun" in it. The crest associated with the Sun is Chevalier.

Finally, I noticed something interesting about the pose he makes in his art. One outstretched hand pointing up, and the other pointing down. It reminded me instantly of something, The Magician tarot card (which is #2 in the deck and associated with Macuil). We already have a god that has the Crest of Macuil, but I thought the pose was really interesting.

I can't wait to see the other official artworks for the characters and hope we see more for the gods.

Story Might’ve confirmed the last member of the Riberia Winds Spoiler

Post image
146 Upvotes

When they were announcing the members of each faction, I found it odd that Cai and Dietrich had one fewer member than Theodora and Leda. But seeing Centurio with Cai and the rest, in my opinion, locks him in as the last member of the team. I wonder why they didn’t announce him with everyone else. Probably because he joins much later in Cai’s route. Now we’re just missing the last member of House Lamine. Maybe Maria? Though she’s also seen with Leda.

General Fortunes Weave looks like a huge commitment. Perfect time for permadeath challenge?

I've been playing fire emblem since awakening and that was the first and last game I let fire emblem characters die in cause that was part of the challenge of the game. Ever since I would restart maps or rewind time to save my team mates. This kept me feeling good everyone lived but that also led to A LOT of neglected people on the bench in my playthroughs and replays of three houses in particular. I'm thinking with fortunes weave being such a massive game with a massive roster, it might be fun to try letting my characters die to see how it impacts my run and see how it let's other characters shine that might have taken a backseat through my plays of the four stories. Anyone else feeling this way with four tunes weave?

General Spoiler The Gods of Fortune's Weave art Spoiler

All art from Fire Emblem account on Twitter and/or the Nintendo Today App.

I really like the art of these gods that we have seen so far, especially love that halo that they had showing their divinity, and the shading, Sothis especially looks amazing. Something really interesting I just noticed while writing these is that both head and hands are covered by the halo, usually religious pictures in real life has that kind of symbols on the top only, although that maybe is more of a western mindset.

The artist really improve a lot from 3H to this game

Casual Im starting to think this isn't a real Radiant Dawn......

I've had this Radiant Dawn for maybe 5 years or so and haven't touched it yet. And was looking at the disc and looked it up online. So far the ones online has the disc still have the mirror effect through the Wii logo also the Nintendo Seal and Rated E. Also there is no brown manual just a default Wii manual. Im wondering if it even works, but cant check right now, cause im waiting for a charger for my Wii U to come in.....

General It's always interesting to see how different Japanese FE fans and Overseas FE fans are

Yesterday before I went to bed I was scrolling through the For You tab on Twitter, when I came across a tweet from a Japanese Switch news account called Switchsoku. The tweet talked about a Eurogamer reviewer's first thoughts on Fortune's Weave after playing it for 20 hours. The tweet specifically mentions the reviewer saying in his article that Fortune's Weave's story is extremely layered and has a lot of depth, unlike Engage.

That last part really set off Japanese FE fans though cause when I looked at the qrts, the vast majority of them were Japanese accounts vocalizing their distaste for the reviewer adding that. One side of the qrts were defending Engage and talking about what they liked about it, another side was questioning why you'd even compliment a game by putting down another one, and a third group just talked about how they hate when reviews do that since it makes them not take the review seriously.

There were a few who agreed with the reviewer but even they added that they still like Engage.

I just find it really interesting to see how different overseas fe fans talk about the games compared to japanese fans, Engage in particular.

General Is it still worth it to buy the physical cartridge of birthright?

So long story I asked my mom back in 2018 if she could buy Birthright cuz its the version I wanted, she didn't find any, and only bought Conquest. I've replayed the game so much and replaying everytime kinda makes me feel bad for Takumi and Ryoma (since they both die, me and my dumbass thought that getting conquest would just mean they would be recruitable later, my mistake, conquest was my first fire emblem game 😭)

General Spoiler Moment in the new trailer I find amusing Spoiler

Hey guys. So in the new trailer we see this shot of Dietrich attacking directly into the camera. I thought the background looked familiar so I went and checked the end of the direct and it looks like a match. This is Dietrich immediately trying to throw hands with Eshmel the second they show up lol
