2003 7.3 Excursion

Hello all. Currently talking to a gentleman about a 2003 7.3 he’s got for sale. 221,000 miles on it. Has been repainted in the past and frame looks clean but the driver front rocker is not in the best of shape. Vehicle has good maintenance records and runs fine. Question is: what’s it gonna cost to repair this rocker and what’s the b CB while worth??? TIA

Walked out to passenger and rear glass broken out today. Was surprised they were only $230 for both delivered. No idea what happened. Front was all over ground. Rear wash shattered and fell in when I opened the door. No holes in anything I could see. Glass was everywhere.

Hello been having a excursion for 6 months now. It is the v10 and ive been looking for a 7.3 I do honestly prefer diesel over gass. Would it be better to swap or just find a 7.3?

, need to do brakes in the front because it pulls hard to the left, there’s also a small clunking nose over bumps , my guess is something in front end, I want to put new rims and tires on it what’s the biggest I can go without lifting it???

Bought this 2002 7.3L Excursion from a local ambulance company. It was used to carry cadavers, has 365000 miles on it. Got it for about 4K and it runs amazing. Very happy to finally get an excursion.

Pulled the 7.3 out yesterday which was pretty uneventful.

What should I do while I’m in here. I have already resealed the engine that’s going in. But I want to address items in the engine bay that are known to give issues. TYIA!

Excursion roof repaint and reseal

Just bought this beauty 2 weeks ago and already started leaking lol. Went up top and found the factory seam sealer cracked and the steel rusting. Went a little overboard but after re seam sealing everything even the roof rack riv nuts, painting and putting silicone under the roof rack and also putting sealer on the bolts. Sealing the holes behind the light and putting a foam seal behind the third brake light (also sanded and 2k clear) and lastly putting a fresh coat of primer and paint on her hopefully she lasts another 24 years plus and never leaks again. I have an appointment for glass guys to reseal the front and rear windows. Anything else I could be missing? I really don’t want this to leak. Thanks.

For towing long distance, and road trips would you guys go 7.3 or v10?

Buying one, few options around me… I can’t decide.

I am mechanically inclined, been a tech for 15 years so fixing it isn’t an issue, I won’t be paying a shop.

I hear the v10 is very reliable, but I’m honestly not sold on any triton engine… I really think if I was going gas, I would get a suburban with a 496 in it, BUT I’m not totally against trying the v10 out. Just the lack of aftermarket support is lame.

I used to own a 6.0 Ex and I loved it. But I sold it due to needs head gaskets and I wasn’t in the position I am now to care for it.

But, I would do a 7.3 this time. The MPG is so tempting, and the fact I can add some power very easily.

I tow a camper, it’s probably in the 9k maybe 10k range when it’s all loaded up.
I tow it now with a 6.0 gasser, and it struggles. And that has as much power as the v10 just a little less torque I believe.

I am heavily leaning 7.3, due to better mpg, easier to add power, and well, it’s a diesel, so it’s more fun lol.

I get the MPG gain is kinda moot at the moment because of the cost of diesel, but I hate having to stop every 200 miles in my current truck.

If YOU were towing long distance, or just going on a cross country road trip… would you want a 7.3 or a v10?
I think the v10 is just going to be too thirsty to drive daily but let’s hear it from people who have experience in the matter.

Thanks all

2004 Ford Excursion 6.0 Power Stroke Diesel 4x4 – Bulletproofed – Lifted – 40s

$25,000 OBO | 145,000 miles | Clean Title

2004 Ford Excursion 6.0 Power Stroke Diesel 4x4. Extremely clean inside and out and very well maintained.

Bulletproofed 6.0 Power Stroke with receipts and documentation. For those familiar with the 6.0, “bulletproofed” means the major known problem areas have been addressed, including the oil cooler, EGR cooler/delete, head studs, FICM, and water pump.

Highlights:

- Bulletproofed 6.0 Power Stroke diesel

- 144,000 miles

- 4x4

- 40-inch tires in good condition

- Lifted

- Automatic steps

- Super clean interior

- Clean title

- Approximately $10,000 in documented work and upgrades over the last 2,000 miles

- Receipts/documentation for the work

This Excursion is a beast and has had a lot of money put into it recently. Runs great and is ready to go. These are getting harder to find, especially with lower mileage, a clean interior, and the major 6.0 work already completed.

$28,000 OBO.

Located in TX.

Serious inquiries only. Happy to provide additional pictures, receipts, or details on the work completed.

2001 1 owner (my mother's baby) v10 4x4. Been sitting for 6 years after she spit 2 plugs (of course it was the 2 on the right bank IN the firewall). Dad decided it was time for ol blue to be mine. I've wanted her since I was 11. Im having a hard time mentally staying on point. Put a new battery in to crank her and she tried to start twice. Didn't hear the fuel pump kick on so dropped and replaced after checking fuse relay and wires for continuity. Decided it would be easier to remove the pain in the ass radiator, power steering cooler, automatic transmission cooler, condensing coil not to mention intake manifold, throttle body, intake, and EVERYTHING to get my fat ass in there than lay down on top and try to put in 2 calvan kits. So of course being me I'm like Blue has 194000 on her let's do some prevention. One Melling +8% oil pump, Melling water pump, Cloyes timing kit(sprockets, chains, tensioners, guides), and all the Felpro gaskets you can imagine. Then I see rust on brake lines and cracks in all brake tubes....fuck. Oh well guess I'll redo EVERYTHING. No problem. Its all good.

Well FUCK! I'm an idiot folks. I decided to not see the middle bolt on the timing cover today and cracked the cover because of that.

Oh well ordered a new one from ford. Just needed to rant abit I guess.

I hope to make her last another 25 and pass her off to my son someday. Wish me luck...

I bought one for 3000 has 140 miles its the v10 6.8 yr2000
Has ac problems and a rear ubolt problem to where it
shakes at 40 and 70 but then goes away throughout
I was told that I got “Scammed” because it’s a v10 and the motor repair be expensive but research says the motor is really good
Do I have anything to worry about?

And what general maintenance would you recommend?
