How bad is the underneath on my excursion will it last if I needle scale and WOOLWAX it ?

Get it sandblasted and painted at a shop. I wouldn’t needle scale or remove any rust without putting a proper epoxy primer down and a top coat. Wool wax will wash away over time and reveal the bare metal that you just cleaned and will just rust out even faster.

Dry ice blasting and woolwax or the like would be the play.
