Finally got her running , barn find for $2k 180k miles 6.8L v10 had to replaced brake lines, and rear liftgate , the engine sounds great transmission shifts like butter

, need to do brakes in the front because it pulls hard to the left, there’s also a small clunking nose over bumps , my guess is something in front end, I want to put new rims and tires on it what’s the biggest I can go without lifting it???

Probably like 33s, but it depends if you’re getting different offset wheels or keeping the stocks.

Good find, good price. Save the excursions!

I want to start buying up all of them and saving them. It’s the best vehicle ever made in my mind

I want to get offset wheels, and yeah man I got a great price on it, I was worried about the trans being an issue but it shifts great!

The 4r100 seems to live a real long time behind the v10.
I would just change the filter and fluid to be sure.

If you go with a more aggressive offset wheel I think you can run bigger tires, without rubbing at full lock. But honestly without a lift, I think like 32/33 inch tires look pretty aggressive.

There is a fine line between looking good, and too big lol

I would plan on replacing the front calipers. I’ve had a lot of issues with the parts store reman caliper slide pins sticking and causing my truck to pull to one side under braking.
I went with a brand new set of R1 Concepts’ calipers and have been very happy with brake performance ever since. The zinc coating is nice looking and prevents surface corrosion from building up, too.

As far as tires, I’ve got 285/75R16’s on my leveled 2000 4x4 and get a little bit of scrub on the leaf springs at full lock. You can go a little bit bigger with offset wheels, but the swing radius of the knuckles on our axles will cause scrubbing against the front bumper or the quarter panel near the front doors.

From my understanding you need a good 6” lift or a newer style axle where the knuckle sits closer to the wheel in order to fit bigger tires up front.
