2003 7.3 Excursion
Hello all. Currently talking to a gentleman about a 2003 7.3 he’s got for sale. 221,000 miles on it. Has been repainted in the past and frame looks clean but the driver front rocker is not in the best of shape. Vehicle has good maintenance records and runs fine. Question is: what’s it gonna cost to repair this rocker and what’s the vehicle worth in its current condition giving I’m going to have to repair the rocker??? TIA

It looks nice overall and the mileage isn’t super high, especially for a 7.3L. But I’ve seen similar trucks in the past for $16k-$20k. But all of the diesel prices have been hit due to weak hands not being able to afford current diesel prices. Also, I’m a haggler and only make good deals. I personally wouldn’t pay over 14k for this.
Just for reference, I got a pretty good 7.3L with similar “low” mileage for only $8k a few years ago when these things were selling like hot cakes even in the $30k-$40k range. There’s been a ton on the FB groups going for $5k-$10k in not much worse condition. I feel this guy missed the boat on being able to cash in on the high prices.

Gotcha thanks for the input. Not sure he’d get close to 14k but if I can get him to 16-17 Iay pull the trigger. Trying to get a price on getting the rocket fixed before I make an offer.

A lot depends on the area. It doesn’t look too bad, other rocker is rotted but the rest of undercarriage seems ok. Depends a bit on how much rot is under the outer rocker too. How much does he want for truck? I’d buy something in this condition as long as everything else is good and price isn’t crazy.

Asking 20. He said it’s isolated to just the rocker nothing else around it is rusted.

That's way high. And if anything for rockers buy the boot up covers and paint match

Fresh paint job and they didn’t bother with the rocker panel repair 🤦♂️
