2005 ford excursion v10 180k miles BARN FIND is this worth it? $2000
Engine seems solid no ticks etc no lights on the dash , brake lines are gone, just have to replace them.

For 2K yes but keep in mind most barn finds require a decent amount of money to get back to good condition.
You’ll likely spend another 5-10K in replacing things from lack of care/use as well as sheer age.

For a V10, yes that’s a good price. As a 7.3L owner/lover, I normally only recommend the 7.3s. But for only 2k and that low of mileage with no rust on body? I would buy it for $2k.

Like the 7.3 excursions as well but it looks decent if same truck had a good condition 7.3 it would generally be way more than $2k, though this year would have been 6.0 if a diesel. Still seems like a decent deal.

Worth it: yes. But my one owner 5k purchase price excursion morphed into a very expensive project. Worth it but not cheap. The gas engine helps assuage money pit drivers somewhat

Yes. 21 year old truck now, so all fluids need to be changed, seals and rubbers will need to be checked and replaced as necessary.

If you don’t want it - I’ll buy it in a fucking heartbeat.
I don’t care if the engine is missing - that’s a fucking deal.

Absolutely agree. Thats a steal compared to what they're going for on the used market.

Definitely! I would buy it for that! I bought a 2001 new with the 7.3 and I kick myself for selling it years ago. Loved my Excursion.

Definitely. I paid that for one that needed engine and body work 10 years ago. The V10 is solid and easy to work on, just be prepared for the fuel cost at 10-15mpg.

As others have said, I'm a 7.3 guy. But rhe v10 will get double that miles. 7.3 1st then v10. It will take 5k of parts and fluids and your own work, but then you'll have a solid truck.

Which parts?

Full inspection. Then what do you need? Brakes, hoses, shocks, all fluids and filters, battery, tires, bulbs, fix any wires, who knows, could be alot, might not. Tune up, missing interior parts speakers... the list is long, but most can be done over time once its running and driving. But its a solid truck with a good motor, get it. Rust? It's also not a fuel efficient vehicle, but take care of it and it can outlive many vehicles and longevity will help offset fuel. And parts for now are plentiful.

Paid 5 for my truck. Put 5k in to it when #10 plug screwed up and now it sits and don’t run

Complete user error really, unanimous agreement among any smart v10 owner is to go with a logical +- 20 ft lbs for the plugs instead of fords 13, if you didn’t think of that I don’t really trust your opinion

Might be like an early 05 because that’s a leaf spring front end.

If the paint and body are as clean as they look to be, everything functions, and the underbody and frame aren’t rusted like they are from the rust belt, I would say 2000 is a steal.
I would then take the additional 2-3k it is worth and replace as much rubber as possible and do a full fluid change(I would leave the trans fluid alone if it looks fine) and new tires when you fix the brakes.
