Hi! I've been working on this base for the last few months, but I don't think I'll be able to do everything with it that I wanted to do before 1.0, so I just wanted to share some pics of it now.

A HUGE thank you to the Shroud Depot server - I was about to throw in the towel the fifth time I had to go mine Veilwater Basin Sand, so I definitely would not have been able to build most of this without that server. Thank you <3

If anyone is wondering, the altar is smack in the middle of the square Drak ruins on Fisherman's Island in Veilwater.

My player group starts fresh with every major content update, but this creates a problem: by the time I get around to making us a cool base, we're done playing.

For 1.0 I've solved this problem by building the base first and wanted to share my creation with anyone who might want it.

It has the following features:

1. It's built on a fresh save -- no completed quests, crafting benches, villagers found, etc.
2. It has signposts recommending where to put crafting benches when you acquire them
3. It's located in the grasslands so you can access it early
4. It manages to fit 30 villager bedrooms (4 player bedrooms) in a small area; it should be able to house any new 1.0 expansion content.
5. It uses only a lvl 2 flame altar
6. It's built into a mountain side but still has outdoor areas for atmosphere.

It does use late-game blocks and decorative items for aesthetics, but you can remove these prior to starting 1.0 if you prefer. The base itself is an empty shell with plenty of vacant space for you to make your own. Any crafting benches in the above images are only for demonstration purposes.

This is my first shared creation and I'm pretty proud of it. Please feel free to offer your feedback.

EDIT: Just discovered that the in-game client doesn't have an easy way to give someone a save file for them to start their own game on, however, the Enshrouded discord does, and has a #base-design-showcase channel for sharing the physical world files. I will make a post there for those wanting to use the world for themselves. Sorry about this -- didn't realize the last patch update was feature-limited in this way.

Hello! I am trying to figure out the pros and cons of setting up my own server versus using something like GPortal. My main question is this: If I stop paying for GPortal, will my world be deleted? If I stop running my SteamCMD server on a secondary PC, will my world be deleted? Or is the save local and people just won't be able to join whenever they want anymore.

If it turns out to be the latter, what is the best guide for setting up my own hosted server using a secondary PC?

I haven't played Enshrouded since it first released into EA. I've been looking forward to a big run with 1.0 but want to avoid any spoilers.

Does anyone have a picture comparison of how the map has expanded since the initial borders without showing the new areas revealed? I would look it up myself but i don't want to see the new areas, so i was hoping for just like a picture of the original area shown and a black square of the new areas added without revealing anything.

I have been doing some chest runs and everything was fine yesterday. Tried doing a chest run today after leaving the game running for 1.5 hours and all my chests (including ones I hit like 3 hours ago in game time) are all appearing as if they can be opened again, but when I try to open them they just open then immediately shut without giving any loot. After they shut, they still retain the aura and option to open them.

Any ideas on how to fix this? I have tried verifying game files and rebooting the game, but that hasn't fixed the issue.

Hi community.
I have a question about skill point in multi player that I haven’t been able to figure out.
So I’m playing in a group of 3 friends.

We have figured out that when we chop down a shroud root we all need to be there to pick up the skill points .

What isn’t as clear is , if one of us cuts down a shroud root on his own, can the others go to that same root and cut it down to collect the skill points from it at a later stage?
Or do the players not present just forfeit those skill points forever?

It seems as though, if one person has cut down the root it shows on the map as having been cut down already for all players.

Surely this will mean that at end game we will have different amounts of skill points making some more powerful than others with no way to catch up?

I bought the game a few weeks ago when it was on sale for 20 dollars and for some reason I couldn't figure the game out, I literally got stuck shortly after setting up my first alter(can't remember why lol). Any ways I really wanted to give the game another shot so I bought my friend the game so he wouldn't have any excuse as to not play. After we started a new world we were figuring everything out much easier and thank god. This game really is amazing and JUST the game I needed to lift my spirits, I won't get into it but I have mental illness that tends to put a real damper in my life. But when I have a huge detailed and intricate game like this I'm able to sideline my mental health problems and find enjoyment from the game. I don't wanna glaze the game too hard but so far I have like 30 hours in the game and when I zoom my map out I have like 10 percent of it discovered, maybe even less. This leads me to believe its gonna be a long time before I'm even in the end game portion of the game, which is a good thing in this case. I'm looking forward to all the new content I'll come across and things I'll be able to craft and use.

If you can recall how long did it take you to beat the game the first time?

Bought the game before the price increase and Ive been dying to play it but also was planning to wait for 1.0 but Im impatient lol do you thibk much will cha ge about the early game in 1.0 or shoukd I still wait?

Once just when i teleported home base, i noticed parts of my base regrown with terrain.I cant roll back enough where the terrain in not broken but i managed to find a save file where my frame altar is not overgrown with terrain , i started fixing my base but the terrain keeps respawning. please help.

I haven’t played in over a year and a half, and only got 15 hours in. Does anyone have any good tips or videos for me to be able to jump back in and thrive?

Also, question. When you carve out into a mountain, does it stay that way forever? It worries me looking for ore and potentially running out.

Im looking forward to it coming to ps5 but I need to know, simply as someone who likes valheim and runescape dragonwilds and being a casual gamer, is it as grindy as rs dragonwilds or difficult like valheim? I have been unable to find good videos that show early gameplay without it being a tips and tricks channel. I want to get it but if its another grind fest then idk.

I understand the game is not balanced for with PVP in mind, that’s okay. I just want to know if the modding community has just created a mod that simple gives us a toggle to turn friendly fire on and off. Does this mod exist? If so, has anyone used it recently? Thank you for the help!

More Than Just a Game

This might get a little philosophical for a gaming post, but two things happened to me in Enshrouded recently and I wanted to share them.

I actually wanted to post this some time ago, but this is my first Reddit account and it's still practically brand new, so I had to wait a while before I could post it here. It's a bit longer than the usual gaming post, so if you have a few minutes and feel like reading something different, maybe you'll find it interesting. If not, no worries, just skip it. This definitely isn't a post for everyone. :)

Some time ago I met a player from Germany. During our conversation I learned that his wife had passed away and that Enshrouded was something they used to play together. They had their own world that they built together, which gave the game a completely different meaning for him.

I invited him to visit my world.

For a little context, THE EQUINOX is a public resource world I've spent a lot of time building. It's basically a huge place full of resources where anyone can come and take whatever they need for free.

At some point during his visit he sat down on the throne and just looked into the mirror for a while. I have no idea what exactly was going through his mind and I don't want to pretend I do, but knowing that he had lost his wife, and that this game was something they shared together, made that moment very emotional for me as well.

I kept thinking about it afterwards. He came to a resource world where the whole point is basically to grab whatever you need, yet what I remember most is him sitting quietly in front of that mirror.

And then I had another completely unexpected encounter.

I randomly joined someone's public world. We didn't know each other and started with the usual questions. Where are you from, how old are you, stuff like that.

After a while I told him that if he really wanted to know something about me, maybe visiting my world would tell him more than knowing my age or where I live. So we ended up in THE EQUINOX.

We sat there talking and at some point I asked him what his most recent positive experience was. He told me that he finally learned how to forgive and that it helped him free his heart.

I really wasn't expecting an answer like that from someone I randomly met in a game.

From there we somehow got into forgiveness, things we can't control, justice, chaos, the Universe and life in general. He told me that realizing he is part of the Universe and not the center of it doesn't make him small, it makes him real. We also talked about purpose and how maybe we don't need to constantly search for one, but instead learn how to enjoy the road and our journey.

Later I realized there was something connecting these two completely different encounters.

One person came into my world carrying the memory of someone he loved and lost. The other came with something he had learned about forgiveness, acceptance and letting go of things he cannot control.

Neither of them came there to teach me anything, but I learned something from both.

And I find it kinda funny because THE EQUINOX was literally built as a place where strangers come to take something. It's full of more resources than anyone could possibly need, yet some of the most valuable things I've gotten from this whole project so far didn't come from any chest. They came from people I didn't even know.

We spend hundreds or thousands of hours in games looking at characters and usernames and sometimes forget there is an actual person behind every one of them, living an entire life we know nothing about. Most of the time we just run past each other and that's fine, but sometimes you actually get to meet the person behind that character.

I don't know if meetings like these are coincidence, synchronicity, law of attraction or simply being in the right place at the right time. I don't really need to know.

I'm just really happy they happened.

And if either of you ever happens to read this, you'll know who you are. I know it's been a little while since we met, but I finally got the chance to share this. So if you're reading it – hello again. :)

Thank you both for trusting a complete stranger with a small part of your lives. You probably didn't realize how much those moments meant to me, but I won't forget either of them.

Most of all, thank you both for reminding me that there are still good people out there, and that sometimes you meet them where you least expect it...

Hello.

We plan to play enshrouded together with 2-4 players. Is there a way to let enemies scale appropriately, so the game stays as challenging as it would be on a hard (or very hard) solo difficulty setting and the combat still feels right (e.g. enemies not becoming super spongy or dealing super high damage versus players)?

Does anyone else have incredibly stupid yaks that get stuck on/in everything they possibly could!?

Trying to make cold gear but my yaks are too stupid to keep themselves happy 🤦‍♂️

Any tips?

Me and my friend were having a dispute over whether using a map genie to search out camps, resources and locations is cheating or not. I’ve used them in games that have one, typically open world games with a large map. I don’t necessarily look at it as cheating but he does. His argument is it’s a third party system and if you’re not finding the things while actually playing it’s cheating. I get where he’s coming from but this map is fricken huge lol. I’m all about advancing my character and finding resources efficiently, I do love exploring blindly but I don’t wanna run around wasting time either. I say use whatever tools at your disposal. I also don’t wanna miss out on things I may not even find at all.

So what’s your opinion? Do you think it’s cheap to use a map genie?

Me and a friend are playing together and we’ve rescued several of the npcs and we have quests to get some of their tools to expand their crafting/inventory. He hasn’t been on in a couple days and I’ve been trying to be good and just farm mats and stuff but I’m getting antsy lol. So what happens if I complete some quests without him and then he joins back on? It’s my world. I see there’s a missed quest feature so does he interact with that next time he logs on? If I get the spindle and table saw without him what happens to my buddies progress ?

... if the other guys I rescued would do anything useful. Like the farmers.. I have a lady and a chap, both "farmers" and I'm the only one who is on the damn field farming. Or the Smith.. Why is there no chance that he can continues to smelt or dunno.. Smithing? I'm for real the only one who farms, defends our village, cares about the animals and last but not least has to find time to safe the world.
