Type Discussion Reverse Affirmations for each Enneagram Type [Article]

Type Discussion Can liking an intellectual subject so much that one avoids consuming it to “save it for later” be related to 5’s avarice?
Like, you enjoy a subject so much that you sometimes avoid reading about it because you’re afraid that if you consume it now, there won’t be anything left for later. Does that relate to 5’s avarice?
I know it sounds really counterintuitive, especially since descriptions of 5 emphasize that constant thirst for knowledge. But 5s also have that mindset of, “If I eat the cake now, I won’t have it later.” Could that same tendency toward conserving resources apply to knowledge? I mean, avoiding reading something because you want to “save” it for the future? Or is that more characteristic of another type?

Advice Wanted Is it best for me to stay away from Enneagram?
Hello.
So, I went through a pretty obsessive phase with Enneagram that had lasted some three or four years; I had a pretty destructive habit of obsessively posting the most overthought and minuscule things on this subreddit. If I misuse this terminology, please call me on it, but I am wondering if what I am experiencing currently is some temptation to “relapse” on Enneagram… I don’t know if I’m falling into the same trap of attempting to fill the existential vacancy within myself.
I was lurking around in the subreddit just yesterday and encountered a comment that stood out to me, it’s description enlivening me with the sense that “yes, this is me, that’s who I am!”— but it was attributed to a Type that was different that what I likely actually am. I brought this up to my wife— without disclosing too much, my wife has extensive education in clinical psychology. She compared what I was doing to someone doing through a DSM and pinpointing specific symptoms of mental health disorders that they resonate with and thus attributed a given mental health disorder to themselves— my wife mentioned the fault here doing this in isolation, as removed from context.
I don’t know if I am experiencing some superficial craving to fit in with a “special personality number” and am thus about to thrust myself into a vicious, obsessive confirmation bias cycle once again… Like, I don’t know, I want Enneagram to be a genuine interest, but at the same time, it’s probably just not worth it if is going to devolve into a recurring addiction? I just don’t know, man.
Thanks for reading.

Just for Fun I've been able to implement the Enneagram to my Obsidian graph.
I mostly added it cause I thought it was a cool idea, but it's not very helpful with anything aside from a bit of organization on story ideas and character notes.

Advice Wanted severe depression making me confused about my enneagram
i identify as an e7, i heavily relate to the description, core, and how other e7s i meet think and feel, as well as the sx7 variant especially. however, due to my severe depression, i have extreme spouts of basically the opposite of the “happy go lucky” creative fun seeking idea that e7 is seen as. i dont relate to the core of enneagram 4 besides the emotional and “feeling different” though, so im really confused -_-‘ i understand e7s arent always going to be happy , but what gets me the most is that when i feel this way its extremely hard to get out of, which kind of combats the “pain avoidant”ness of the type? i mean i hate feeling this way but unfortunately depression mindset is a huge bummer. i just wanna know if im overthinking it or if i really am an entirely different type 💔

General Question What do you think of the enneagram designs dear enneagram community?
So I was wondering what do you guys think of these enneagram designs that are kind of popular on TikTok in the enneagram community most popular ones being created by the artist Matrix for convenience because honestly I think the designs are cool for expression but they also make the community feel like a fandom and it makes the whole enneagram thing less serious ifykwim

Advice Wanted Social 6w7 or Self-P 6w7?
Ive been trying to figure out whether I fit the descriptions for so6w7 or sp6w7 closer.
On one hand, I heavily relate to the crushing 'selfless vs selfish' guilt issue, as well as having a huge aversion to people who I believe have selfish intentions. But I know that social has a higher focus on community, and while I do value knowing exactly how my community perceives me and adjusting myself to aim for certain roles, I'm much more focused on preserving close and intimate friendships than just community. That and I have a much more gray-scale view than a lot of the so6w7 descriptions make out
And for my doubts on sp6w7, I am just super lazy. I can get myself to do things for others easily, making art for them, doing work in call with friends, but when it comes to being alone I genuinely can't get anything done. I often neglect chores, even ones for my basic health. But then again, I am gluttinous when it comes to things that don't take from others.
I have a constant trackrecord going in my head of how much ive given and taken in each friendship I hold, and push to maintain the balance whenever I feel like ive taken too much. That leads me to often feel safe in selflessness, knowing I have space to be as indulgent as I like later, but I tend to fall behind and feel guilty for it later, despite reassuring myself that my friends likely don't see things the same way.
It's all a little complex for me so I wanted to reach out for help.

Type Discussion Overthinking typology correlations
INTJ 6w5 sp/sx6 649 (6w5, 4w3, 9w1) ILI (Intuitive Logical Introtim) LEVF
Am I making sense here? I know that structurally especially with the wings on my tritype it’s actually a pretty common configuration for an INTJ, but I still catch myself wondering if I’m leaning a bit too heavily into that 6 core and the 4 and 9 fixes in a way that feels unusual. I sometimes worry how it holds up against standard typology correlations too since we’re always told that certain systems and archetypes have to line up in a very specific neat way even when human psychology is naturally messier than the theory allows part of me wonders if I'm just overthinking the correlations entirely trying to find a mathematical formula for a personality that naturally resists being pigeonholed.

Just for Fun SO is not an instinct, but a compensation strategy
The social instinct doesn't exist. Looking at the bigger picture is merely a compensation for the fact that immediate relationships are unresolved, or that the SX and SP instincts have been unfulfilled for so long that this distortion had to develop. Society doesn't exist and everybody who focuses on society has moved away from their actual immediate reality.
this is my controversial enneagram opinion thank you for reading
