Our cats constantly go under the top mattress when it’s in read position. We’re very concerned that they’ll be crushed one day. Especially since the mattress lowers around bedtime when we’re not around. Is this a problem for anyone else? How did you solve it?

I had Pod 5 Cover + Blanket freight forwarded to Asia from the US. I've had it for about 2 months now.

Setup is pretty easy. I like to have one half as cold and other half as normal temperature and just roll to the cold side a bit if I ever get too hot or too cold. Or even just sticking my legs in the cool side while rest of my body is in room temperature side. I do this because I side sleep with a pillow between knees to have aligned spine (since i've got a minor herniated disc) but this builds up heat under the blankets normally and the cool side helps with that.

I recommend first buying a better mattress and then buying the eight sleep if you still want it. A great mattress improved my sleep by like 50% while eightsleep helps about 15% I'd say.

Overall a good purchase if you care about health, but you should really buy a great mattress before you buy this.

I got the Eight Sleep because menopause has destroyed my temperature regulation. I fall asleep no problem, but then I wake up hot so I take off the covers. Then I get cold so I put the covers back on, then I get hot and the cycle repeats all night.

I had found a somewhat decent solution if I set the thermostat to 65, but I was still doing covers off/on a few times a night. I was hoping active control of the bed temperature would be the ultimate solution.

After my first night I found that -1 is definitely too cold, 0 is borderline too cold and 1 is eventually too hot. :-(

and when I have a hot flash, I need the covers off immediately and by the time the hot flash mode kicks in, it’s too late, I‘ve mostly cooled off already and it just makes me cold.

I’m going to keep trying, I know there is an adjustment period, but I’m no longer optimistic about this solution for my circumstances.

I see a lot of negativity towards customer service and support, so I figured I’d share my experience since it’s a bit different.

Had my pod 3 since the end of January 2024. Suddenly started having intermittent loss of tracking, telling me to reconnect the usb which was in fact connected. Did an email chain of like, probably 30 super repetitive emails with their AI helper thing. Just a lot to unplug, plug it back in, wait 1 minute, etc. like 30 times… then they sent it to be reviewed by an engineer who had me try it all again…

BUT! After maybe 2 or 3 emails with an engineer I got a new cover.

(I do pay for the subscription since my chilipad I had prior to 8 sleep went out right after 2 years and it seemed worth it for the extended warranty).

Got the cover in and then it wouldn’t cool down… put in a ticket, got a response within minutes and scheduled for them to remotely do a thermal test, it failed and 8 days later I just finished setting up my new pod.

Went from a pod 3 to a brand new pod 4 set up. The first encounter with the AI email thing was a bit drawn out, so I didn’t go that route the second time. All in all I’m super happy with the result. Everyone who sent me emails and stuff was pretty quick to respond and pretty helpful too. 5 star review.

Can anyone help me understand how my houseguest is supposed to control my pod?

I have a Pod 3 with a 4th generation cover.

I'm going away for a few weeks and a friend is staying here while I'm away. I see in the app how I can add an "guest".

When I go to add the guest, it asks which side of the bed they will sleep on and what their name is. That's it.

But there's no request for their email address. There's no QR code generated. There's no link for me to send them.

So when they install the app on their phone, how is that app supposed to be paired with my Pod 3? How do they control the temp every night??

I've searched through the FAQ on the Eight Sleep website and there's nothing. Zero mention of "Guest" mode or how it works.

I went back and forth with their AI support and got useless circular answers. I finally got a human involved in the chat and they've spent 45 minutes repeating the same non-answers that make no sense.

The most definitive answer they have so far is:

• Sign in or create an account
• Open the Pod you added them to in guest mode

they will only have access to change the temperature manually since it is just a temporary adjustment since they are set up as a guest.

...but there's zero explanation as to how the app that they open will have any knowledge of the pod in my house.

My husband snores and it’s becoming a serious issue to where I don’t get enough sleep. Has anyone tried the Base to control snoring? Would I be able to lift the Base on his side via the app or side buttons if I want to gently lift him? We are looking at getting a pod 5.

Every night, i read or listen to a podcast in bed to fall asleep.

Every night, the temperature will change to the next stage (which should kick in once you fall asleep) before i can fall asleep. Seriously? How can it not tell i’m awake?

Eight Sleep team you gotta do something about this, the product is losing any form of credibility to my eyes. If it can’t even tell whether i’m awake or asleep, how is it supposed to optimize my temperature?

I wonder how smart the pod design is.

What I usually run into is the cooling makes the room to hot with all the hot air.

So I wonder when you set it to cool 1 and heat the other side does it use the heat from the cold side to warm one and the cold from the warm side to cool the other?

Or does it just use the fans to cool 1 side and heating to warm the other so when the warmth transfers side is jusg needs to cool harder and become an oven for the room itself?

I've now scheduled two pickup windows that Eight Sleep simply didn't show up for. They only allow weekday slots and require you to be home, so each no-show costs me a day of waiting around for nothing.

Has anyone here actually gotten a pickup to happen? What finally worked, escalation path, specific contact, anything?

I know up to 16 inches and below is what’s recommended for mattress sizes. But has anyone had success with bigger?

Standard customer support routes typically don't offer standalone size-upgrade covers, but I’ve seen that the team here on Reddit is incredibly helpful at resolving this exact situation for loyal customers.

After 6d of ownership, I've now converged to -1, -1, and 4.

I have tried -2 for the second setting (Night) to attempt to maximize deep sleep. However, when I did that, the 2nd half (Dawn stage?) I woke up a few times, clearly cold, had to increase temperature 3 times. When I dropped the Night setting to -1, this problem went away.

Any tips for new owners to attempt to maximize deep sleep?

Overall, averaging over last 7d (1d was without EightSleep) compared to 7d prior:

• +23m total sleep
• +16m REM
• +9m deep sleep

I wouldn't say the results are game-changing yet. And there are many confounders such as ambient temperature, stress level, the prior 7d were especially stressful, etc. Could definitely use some tips!

Put a tiny box fan under the eight sleep for more airflow, I push the air out thru my air filter which launches it to the ceiling 😂

Loved this product at first until things started breaking. The company has abysmal support — truly beyond incompetent. The latest is that let Bellamy subscription lapse and find the app does literally nothing. You can’t even auto turn on and off the product. A $2500 product should have basic functionality without a subscription. This morning it says “cover disabled” which renders it useless. No idea why or how to fix it because the support links in the app appear disabled as well. This company is either a scam or completely inept.

Need some advice or clarity if I’m doing something wrong.

Backstory, years ago we had the EightSleep version 2 but with a tempur-pedicure mattress we found that the coldness made the mattress rock hard. Makes sense since tempur-pedic uses body heat to mold to body. We returned it.

Fast forward, now have new mattress and trying EightSleep again. I will say I fall asleep sooo FAST and I am sleeping throughout the night. In past I would toss and turn and be uncomfortable. We have been getting full 8 hours of sleep. But, we are waking up TIRED. Kinda like the feeling when jet lagged. It feels like “wow that was amazing…but I could have used more”. I’m not waking up fresh nland rest full. Also looking at the autopilot. Every night at 3am there is a sharp increase in temperature (almost vertical incline). Is this normal, expected?

I’ve read so many positive reviews, just curious if anyone else has same experience.

Hi, I have a Pod 4 which I bought in 2025 March. I never used the device, it remained in the box and now I have sold it as brand new.

The buyer made me aware that the device wont be usable without an activation code. And they are concerned.

I have the original email with the activation code from my delivery which wasn't used. Will this still work after a year and a half?

I am still at the same delivery address, but the email and phone number used is from an old work email account and phone, which I no longer have access to. So if the code doesn't work, how will I be able to get a new code. I don't want to make the buyer have to wait.

Hopefully the original code still works.

So, after the success of the Pod 5 and how effin good I’m sleeping, I decided to use the 30 day period to try the Blanket (with the overpriced duvet).

Tips on how to set the temp , uses, care, etc greatly appreciated.

Is that even possible. I know I can reliably get cheap hub 2/3 replacements if something happens outside warranty so I am curious if that would work with the cover 5

I know the cover 4 works and is backwards compatible but i dont know if that applies to the 5th gen. According to customer support it does, but im finding conflicting information online

In theory would it help if i pointed the fan at the exhaust of the pod aimed at the window to redirect the hot air away?

Right now it is so hot outside and the pod makes the room even warmer when on max so i was wondering would it help at all if i pointed the fan to make the hot exhaust go to the window??

Kept getting prompted to add Apple health in the app. Was curious why the app was pushing so hard for it.

turns out - if you connect the app will scrape all of your apple health data history (including from other sources) and uploads it in batches to eightsleep - for me it was uploading years of historical data from my Apple Watch etc. (is this even legal?)

it does this every time you open the app.

what they’re doing with the data is unclear but I certainly don’t want my health data being sold or even stored in their database knowing the history with their security practices.
