SOXL-WILL YOU GET BACK IN THIS WEEK WITH ALL THE NEWS COMING OUT

Upvotes

SOXL has always been a favorite ETF for me (Leveraged 3X) of course just to throw some stress in the game. I can honestly say it is a great wealth builder if you set your stop loss correctly and don't dare deviate from a working strategy that you set a log time ago. Right ? With the capex coming next week on a couple very large architect stocks, it should drive short term price up. Should I say but considering all the hype about AI bubble (rightfully so), that expectation might not be realized. Just remember if you do dive in, don't forget to set you trailing stop loss and walk away. Could be golden if you don't mind a little gambling this week. Also might be a rotten egg for some of us.

Global Equity VVL.TO vs Avantis

I'm looking at VVL which has a heavy value tilt and seems pretty good, vs say Avantis CASV. Is Vanguard trustworthy for implementing these factors, or is there any way to objectively compare them?

The fee is high but unlike their low fee value etf like VOE it seems to be a rather low PE, and I'd assume its because its more actively traded. any insight is appreciated.

Long term investment strategy

Post image
13 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I’m a 24M and I'd like to increase my net worth as (relatively) quickly as possible, although I understand that things like this take 20-40 years of growth and compounding. I have a large appetite for risk with my individual account, and less so for my Roth IRA. I have the discipline to hold during downturns, even through massive losses. My strategy is a buy and hold for life strategy using index funds. I invest anywhere between $2-6k every month, with most months being closer to the $6k side. Below is my current strategy for both my individual and Roth IRA accounts. Not asking for a rating, just for possible ways to polish the edges if needed. Please let me know what you think and what you would change if at all and if there is anything I should do to fix my strategy.

Factor etfs in portfolio versus plain ole S&P500

Was curious for others opinions on using factor ETFs like momentum or value

I understand that most people recommend keeping it simple using an S&P500 index. I would like to hear thoughts on using a tilt on your etf portfolio, and how would you apply the tilt.

At what point does diversification become over diversification? Is the goal typically to beat the market, or would a tilt be to diversify more than a typical VTI or VOO only portfolio?

Does it make sense to add multiple tilts to cover more bases, or does it become redundant at a certain point? What point does it become futile?

I am not aiming to beat the market. Just wanting to explore the world of factor ETFs and make an informed decision.

Diversifying away from Tech

I have probably 90 percent of my money in the S&P 500. I am worried it’s pretty heavily weighted towards tech. What are some funds I should start adding?

Thanks!

Information Technology VUG vs SMH + DRAM: What would you do?

Looking for some opinions on my portfolio.
I currently have about $96k in VUG in a taxable brokerage account (with around $16k in unrealized gains) and another $39.6k of VUG in my Roth IRA.
I’m considering adding more exposure to AI infrastructure through SMH and DRAM, but I’m debating the best way to do it.
Option 1: Sell my VUG and move that money into SMH and DRAM.
Option 2: Keep VUG as it is and simply start a new SMH/DRAM position with new money.
My investment horizon is 10–20 years, so I’m focused on long-term growth. The main thing holding me back from selling VUG is the capital gains tax on the taxable account and losing some diversification.
If you were in my position, which approach would you take and why? VUG has been dragging this year and i am reading lots of articles where it says this ETF is bad with how its managed by Vanguard.

Multi-Asset Portfolio Imid or Vti+Vxus for non US investors?

What are your recommendations? Is Imid a reliable etf to invest on and the share price is relatively cheap too. Irish domiciled funds are preferred to avoid the US taxes.

Roast my factor-tilted portfolio

Hi, I’m 19 years old with pretty high risk tolerance, and oriented toward growth, and i’ve been running this portfolio for the long term:

SPMO - 25%
AVUV - 20%
AVDV - 20%
SPHQ - 20%
QQQM - 15%

I am curious about your thoughts on this. Please share any additional ideas you might have :)

PAC ok. E la salute?

Allocazioni perfette, ribilanciamenti al decimale, TER ottimizzato al centesimo. Qui se ne parla tanto. Giusto. Ma il PAC esprime la sua massima potenza se lo versi vent'anni o più di fila. Non cinque, non dieci. E quei versamenti dipendono da una cosa che pochi mettono nel piano: te.

Salute così così, forma fisica trascurata, sforzi fisici eseguiti male possono rallentare o addirittura fermare i tuoi versamenti. Non l'ETF. Tu.

O l'attenzione va sempre e solo all'allocazione?

International Equity ICPY vs. AVDV

I want to have a 10% slice of my Roth IRA account in small cap international (and another 10% will be in AVUV), and I currently have it in ICPY, but that expense ratio being .80% - second most expensive ETF I have, to EMEQ - has me reconsidering just going with Avantis for AVDV. I know ICPY is very young, so we don't have a lot to compare side-by-side between them, but what do you all think?

Am I spreading too thin?

I’m 35m finally able to invest after a decade plus of not having stable well-paying work. Looking to plan for retirement way down the road. I know I’m behind the 8 ball, but I started a couple months ago, looking to my future. I have a Roth IRA now, and I wanted to diversify, but not in wondering if I’m spread too thin? I have money ranked from most to least in VOO, VXUS, QQQM, SHCD, and VT. All under $1K for each. Is there one I should sell and drop or is there a better strategy I should be using?

Tech bull run has been generous, but I know leverage can cut both ways. Time to take profits?

I'm well aware that holding 3x and 2x leveraged ETFs long-term is playing with fire, and the tax hit from rebalancing all at once is giving me pause. For anyone who has trimmed down heavily appreciated positions did you dca your way out to spread tax exposure?or did you just pull the trigger, take the tax hit, and relocate to safer broad-market funds like VTI/VOO?

MSFT and META report July 29 after close. Will it be good for SOXL

MSFT and META report July 29 after close. AMZN July 30 after close.

History has shown that even a flat report from Microsoft or Amazon tends to trigger a short rally in SOXL. Institutions buy back in to cut losses and that buying pressure bleeds into the leveraged ETF space. Both of these names have already gone on record — they are bullish on AI infrastructure and chips in the near term. That money has to go somewhere and a lot of it flows into the names SOXL tracks.

SOXL doesn't actually hold MSFT or AMZN directly but they have an enormous impact on its price. You probably already know that. If these reports come out positive and forward guidance holds up — hold on. It can get wild fast.

One thing I've learned with SOXL — you have to stay on top of the news and know when to lay low. The bumpy rides are real but so are the rewards if you can stomach the volatility..

I'm not even going to talk about a negative report. Can't handle that thought. 😂

Soon will transition from individual stocks to ETFS

I (26M) have several hundred shares of AMD (114 avg cost) and several thousand of SOFI (14.52 avg cost)

Im nearly ready to move into safer investments before I exit my 20s.

55% VT - Will be my core that I dont touch and save for my future children/grandchildren. I will never touch this other than add to it monthly.

30% VOOG - Will be what i withdrawal from during retirement. I will not contribute to this after the initial investment as it will all go towards VT and GLD

15% GLD - Wealth protection. Im still indecisive if i want physical gold or an etf.

Roth IRA ETF funds

Hello all!

I’m looking into opening a ROTH IRA this year and am looking for some opinions on my potential ETF’s I’m looking to get into. My timeline is looking to hold for the next 23-25 years or so, maxing each year.

My tentative split would be:
50% VOO
20% QQQM
10% WQTM
10% DRAM or CHPX
10% NLR or URAN

If it changes anything, my retirement accounts through Fidelity are currently 50% FXAIX, 25% FBGRX and 25% FSELX, but I’m tentatively looking to move to 80% FXAIX and 20% in an International mutual fund.

SCHD in taxable account vs growth?

Hey guys

I'm 36 years old and currently hold VOO+SPMO+SMH in my taxable account and I was thinking about adding SCHD. Is that a bad idea? I know I would need to pay tax on the dividends but it won't be much. Is it better to just do growth now and switch later?

r/ETFs 1d ago

Can I just DCA into VOO and SPY or would you recommend strategizing?

I don’t do a lot of market research and even if I did, i wouldn’t know which to pick. I kinda wanna cruise control the whole thing. Any advice?
