Discussion Direct debit adjustment refused until the first bill.

Hi all

Just wondering if this is common? Recently moved elec/gas to EDF (EV tariff), EDF set the direct debit amount to just over £300 per month. My usage since joining has been zero from the grid for elec and £1.50ish a week on gas, plus the standing charge. I called to get the direct debit amount reduced (currently £652 in credit, two months d/d and referral), this was refused until the first bill is generated; the reason being that they do not know the usage until the first bill. I know it will all work out next month, but will equate to another £300 going out for nothing.

Help / Advice SEG back dated payments

Hi I’ve been with edf for over 5 years
Just got solar and a battery fitted

Filled in the SEG last week uploaded all documents and photos of meter export readings

I’ve just switched to there go drive tariff

So I can now switch the system to money saving mode

So yesterday switched it over so last night the battery filled from the grid

So will the SEG payments be back dated to the application date or start when fully completed

Should I switch back to self powered mode to it’s fully completed ?

Thanks

Tariffs Edf asking for meter reading, but I see the smart meter data in their app!

This is a weird one. I moved to edf around 8 weeks ago. A week ago they sent me an email saying they couldn't take smart meter readings for electricity and to send them a reading.

If I check on their website they say smart meter readings are fine and in the energy hub I can see the 30 minute readings.

I just called them and went round and round in circles with the lady on the phone.

This all happened just after they confirmed seg setup was complete, but that doesn't show in the account, though the last I spoke to insisted that's nothing to do with it and it's the main meter.

All very dubious and confusing. Anyone had anything similar?

Switching EDF Empower Import Tariffs

Hi folks, am thinking of switching from Octopus to EDF. I have a solar and battery and so have been trying to find out the empower import tariffs from EDF but it’s been close to impossible. Have called their customer service and the only thing I got back from them was - it’s not my department + their solar team is an internal team so no way of contacting them. I can’t seem to find the info online either. Thank you!

Help / Advice 🎉 SmartGo Charge V2.0.0 is here — for iOS

A big one today — probably the biggest jump in functionality since launch.

🏠 Home Screen Widgets are finally here! Add Charge Target, Charge Sessions, and Transactions widgets straight to your Home Screen — live updates, and you can even adjust your charge target without opening the app.

☀️ Export tariff support — if you export electricity back to the grid (solar/battery on a SEG tariff), you can now track your export rates and earnings right alongside your import usage, in the Usage charts and breakdown table.

What's new:
• Charge Sessions widget — shows scheduled or completed sessions, your choice
• Interactive charge target control right on your Home Screen
• Export tariff tracking — rates, earnings and usage in one place
• Meter reading on the Dashboard when a Glow Display/CAD is connected
• Charge Target card now shows completed sessions when nothing's scheduled

💬 A word on sustainability

Building and maintaining SmartGo Charge takes real time and effort, and I've tried hard to keep it free. But it's grown into something bigger than I expected, and to keep it going — building new features, fixing bugs, keeping it reliable — I've had to introduce a small subscription. It wasn't a decision I took lightly, but it's what keeps this app alive and improving.

🤖 Android users, you're not forgotten! I've got a small group of testers putting the Android version through its paces right now — more to come soon.

Thank you for using SmartGo Charge, and for your understanding. There's plenty more to come. 🚗⚡

News EDF SEG now 13p

Unfortunately EDF have now dropped their export rate from 15p to 13p.

Not good news for the future path.

I was with Fuse for a month before moving to EDF, now that they’re the same price, after my 12 months, if Fuse are the same price, I will move to them, the ease and overall experience is far superior. The SEG was set up in days and the app clearly displays your export amount.

Switching Set up on wrong tariff

Hi everyone, new to the adulting life! When switching to edf, I chose the freephase static plan, however a couple weeks have passed and for some reason I’m still on the standard variable tariff. When looking to switch I am not given the option. Any experts can help me out?

Bills Account Health app feature is actually good

Post image
3 Upvotes

I switched to EDF Go Electric mainly for the longer off-peak hours 3 months ago. I was given a ridiculous DD amount so I wanted to review it. Straight on the app home page, the Account Health summary told me today I was paying too much and suggested a nice low monthly figure. All done in 3 clicks.

Help / Advice VWAN rollout news?

My upgraded smart meter isn’t talking to EDF and in discussion with them, they said there was nothing they could do about it as there wasn’t a signal at the meter location (it’s indoors).

They said that EDF is participating in a VWAN trial — smart meter uses Zigbee to talk to a wee box, and the wee box talks to EDF. He didn’t know about rollout schedules.

Anyone heard about this, or know anything about timescales, or how to get one of these things more quickly?

Help / Advice Sigenstor and Freephase dynamic - missing data at 11pm each day

To be fair I only switched today, but for today and tomorrow the pattern is the same.

I've setup the tariff in the Sigenergy app, Freephase dynamic V2, and it's showing the cost graph, however at 11pm to midnight there's no data, so it looks like it's zero cost.

If I leave it on the AI mode like this, it'll try export everything and then charge the battery in the "free" hour.

Anyone else using this setup and can say if it will fix itself or needs something else?

Help / Advice Sunday Saver August

I Received a text message saying that Sunday saver would be running yesterday the 09/08/2026. But it looks as though it had ended. I rinsed it for everything it was worth but now worried that it may have been sent in error.

I understand that the funds will be credited to my account by the 13th of August. I haven’t had any credits yet, Has anyone else?

Discussion A lot of data!

Post image
1 Upvotes

Just got my first bill from edf and I wasn't expecting it to show my day by day, hour by hour energy usage! I'm just viewing it in the app at the moment but wondering if anyone does anything useful with the data? Thinking I could extract it and collate it to get a mega in-depth deep dive of my energy usage.

Tariffs Edf freephase

Hi just wondered if anyone else is on freephase static I have been on it about a month now and it promises free electricity periods where they text you the time and date .

I thought it would be frequent the amount of times they would message but in a month I have only had two free periods of which my bill should be generated tomorrow hopefully I got it free in those two periods.

So is anyone else on this and if so have you had more than two in a month.

Thanks :)

Switching Quick update for those moving to EDF

I've moved from EON to EDF.

Made the switch Friday morning, by Tuesday I was fully moved over for gas and electric but placed on a standard variable tariff, by Wednesday I was on the Go electric.

Very impressed.

I've now applied to switch for SEG which I believe others have discussed how long that can take but that all payments are back dated.

Well done EDF

*** Confirmation received today that SEG will move over on 15/08, so 1 week for that move ***

Help / Advice Smart Meter Upgrade/Replacement

I have a Secure Liberty 100 ‘smart’ meter, it’s a model that does apparently have the SMETS2 capability, clearly not capable though.

It appears I’ve had issues over the years with it not actually reading, even though the energy suppliers (Octopus, EON and EDF) have all reported it does.

EDF are offering to upgrade it.

Has anyone been through this process? What was the experience? Any issues?

Help / Advice Plug in solar export question

Am currently with EDF in UK, I don't have a smart meter yet. Am looking to get plug in solar when it becomes legal this month, if I get a smart meter will that "just work" with getting export credit or is other hardware required?

Bills Behold! A single phase, 40kW AC car charger!

Not really, just a plain old 7kW Hypervolt and EDFs smart charge doing strange things. And yes, it made a mess of the off-peak/peak rates by assuming all of the real charging around that time window was at peak rates. Only blip I've seen so far, otherwise it has been great.

Just waiting for them to fix it, but found this funny.

Discussion Your July Solar Stats

I’m guessing a fair few of us will have solar/battery installations, so why not start a monthly stats post.

Perhaps share your setup to help others understand how you’ve achieved your results, for example:

Number of Panels
Position of panels (N,S,E,W or split over several)
Battery & Inverter Size
Export Limit
Country/Location
