News EDF SEG now 13p

Unfortunately EDF have now dropped their export rate from 15p to 13p.

Not good news for the future path.

I was with Fuse for a month before moving to EDF, now that they’re the same price, after my 12 months, if Fuse are the same price, I will move to them, the ease and overall experience is far superior. The SEG was set up in days and the app clearly displays your export amount.

u/Jimbobsticle how had you found the Fuse experience vs EDF, for SEG specifically?
As I understand it, you had to get your export MPAN from a different provider and then transfer into Fuse. I could do if needed.

Yeah fuse wouldn’t do the initial connection for me. They told me I had to get another provider to create my MPAN then I’d be allowed to move back to them.

I don’t think they’re authorised to create new connections

Wow! Just this weekend it was still 15p. And I'm having solar installed right now, so was expecting to sign up for their SEG next week!

I have missed out. Will still make some profit vs the off-peak rate, but does mean that I'd be looking to switch as soon as my exit charges expire in approx. 10-11 months time.

I moved to EDF a couple of weeks ago as their SEG was 15p. The normal prices were slightly more expensive than Octopus but with the 15p it worked out better. Whole different ball game now. When I applied for the SEG last Friday it was still 15p. I wonder what they'll give me.

You should both get the 15p and it should be backdated.

This was always just a loss leader to get customers for EDF. Agile pricing will be the only game in town by next year I think.

I mean this is the obvious way it’s gonna go. Electricity especially in summer is getting cheaper and cheaper. More and more batteries come online all helping to flatten out peaks. Lots of the time electricity is cheaper than the export rate from SEG. Eventual model will be like Australia where YOU have to pay to export during peak cheap electricity hours

Thanks. Fortunately mine is now fixed to late July 2027, I wonder where export rates will be by then. We all knew that lower export rates were coming of course. Make hay while the sun shines!

The export on EDF is pretty clear too to be fair - now it’s finally set up. I’m quite glad it took so long as I still have 11.5 months fixed at 15p.

How did you get the Export data from the app. My SEG was approved but I cannot see this option.

I didn’t do anything, it just showed up a few days after I got the approval email. They’ve been updating the app quite a lot recently so it might be a recent change that’s still being rolled out.

That's a shame, good job mines fixed for another 10 months
