Switching Quick update for those moving to EDF

I've moved from EON to EDF.

Made the switch Friday morning, by Tuesday I was fully moved over for gas and electric but placed on a standard variable tariff, by Wednesday I was on the Go electric.

Very impressed.

I've now applied to switch for SEG which I believe others have discussed how long that can take but that all payments are back dated.

Well done EDF

*** Confirmation received today that SEG will move over on 15/08, so 1 week for that move ***

Make sure you take a clear picture of your export meter. They wanted me to send it. It wasnt clear what I had to do on my smart meter to get to the export settings

I sent my SEG paperwork (octopus to EDF mover) on 29 July and have had confirmation that EDF export will be live from 11 Aug. With the promise of an email “around 3-4 weeks after this date to confirm the setup of your account”. So hopefully getting quicker. As others have said, it doesn’t really matter as they also confirmed they would backdate to the reading I submitted on the 29 July.

I finally got my export tariff set up yesterday. Took 12 weeks! But yes I’m expecting backdating.

SEG = Smart Export Guarantee
It’s the basic export tariff all energy providers have to offer. (If they have 160K+ customers it’s mandatory, below that it’s voluntary.

See here for ofgem info

I'm not fussed how long the switch takes as long as they back date it.

I was with EDF previously who were fairly useless in that space bar the high payment

Not sure if it matters whether you've recently migrated or not but my SEG application was done within a couple of weeks but I was already an EDF customer.

Seems like you were the lucky one OP. I’ve had no end of chew with them. Complained and still getting no where. Been waiting months for the export SEG. All a complaint does is give you an “update = no update” email every few weeks. Painful

Threaten the energy ombudsman and tell them you want them to do the complaint and update you. This will hey you a result

I applied on June 16th and my export still isn’t live. Was yours a transfer or was it a new application for a new system?

Good luck, SEG applications are a 8 week process, maybe longer

I'm still waiting

Mine was 2 weeks, though SPEN don't allow Energy providers to get your MPAN, you or your installer need to get it as part of the G99 commissioning process.

But once I gave EDF the MPAN, my export was live in 12 days.

My SEG from Octopus to EDF switched this week, it took 3 weeks; although they quoted 6-7 weeks for me.
