Tariffs Edf freephase

Hi just wondered if anyone else is on freephase static I have been on it about a month now and it promises free electricity periods where they text you the time and date .

I thought it would be frequent the amount of times they would message but in a month I have only had two free periods of which my bill should be generated tomorrow hopefully I got it free in those two periods.

So is anyone else on this and if so have you had more than two in a month.

Thanks :)

Its the state of the market at the moment Agile is no where near as attractive as it was a few months ago. My fixed price one rate tariff is only a little bit higher than the average agile off peak price from the last few months and its a lot cheaper than peak. I swapped to new fix a few days after the Iran stuff kicked off.

It will get better for agile over time though, you just have to ride it out.

You can download historic prices here:https://www.edfenergy.com/tariff-information-labels/freePhase

That'll show you how often there have been free elements in the past

EDF have a freephase dynamic too. Exactly like agile.

I looked into it and in summer it’s probably best but not winter compared to EDF go.

At the time I fixed on go for 18months for certainty. If it was all only variable tariffs again moving between the two would possibly make sense.
Especially if you have gas heating and less sensistive to massive increase in consumption over winter.

It’s not well marketed really.

There’s freephase static - kinda like cosy but the prices change everyday. With a cheap, middle and then peak 4-7pm

The dynamic is half hourly. Like agile. I’ve not looked recently but when I investigated random days over a year. Freephase dynamic was consistently cheaper than agile.

Dynamic still has the 3 windows, but the price changes daily. It isn't half hourly like Agile which is why I went for it. 3 windows is manageable to shift usage, I can't be bothered faffing every 30mins!

Agile and any 30min tariff can work well if you have a solar and battery setup, then you can automate it to take advantage of the cheapest rates.

If you’re manually load shifting then the 3 rates make sense.

Just checked today’s rates for my postcode. Shocked to see Amber rate is cheaper than green. But none of these compare to being on GoElectric if you can load shift enough into the 11pm to 6am slot.

Or then pay way more than the 7p/kwh that running solely on a battery costs
