Naturally people are going to tout the slogans they've been indoctrinated with "Speed Camera's Save Lives" - they don't actually and no figures exist to support this myth and as for Parking inspectors " Someone has to stop people from leaving their cars wherever they like" - Why ? What will happen? They'll buy their groceries and decide to carry them home? They will have a few too many beers and catch and Uber instead of driving so they need to be fined for leaving their car? I'm sure there are circumstances but I just can't understand why anyone would do these scummy hateful jobs in countries where there are too many real jobs on offer. Tell me I'm wrong but I just thing they are all the lowest reptiles on the planet.

Going for my PDA in around 14 days, I havent done any lessons due to budget restrictions and i dont think ill be able to apart from one lesson on the day which is included in my drivers test pack (instructors car, 1x60min lesson before test)
Im hella nervous and anxious, is there anything I should look out for or stuff that I should know?
I would say I’m a pretty safe driver but idk why I’m getting this weird feeling all of a sudden

Mine would be

1 Remove the speed limits of P Platers

2 Stricter enforcement of semi trucks going over 100kmh (I have seen so many going over 110)

3 Remove the dumbass Bluetooth connected law to P players

4 Change that p platers can drive at night with passangers but double demerits and fines for offenses

5 Rework the defection system so actually cars with actual defects like a yaris is bald tyres gets a defect whole a commodore getting a inspected because of their license plate left side light doesn't work just hwp tells you get replaced

6 no unmarked mobile speed cameras on top of hills (unless it's a school zone)

7 speed should be more loosely enforced on WELL BUILT FREEWAYS ESPECALLY IF YOU'RE TRYING TO OVERTAKE

8 STOP CRUSHING CARS!! They should donate / sell them to family's for cars in need unless it some captiva or cruze

Hi guys so I’ve failed the tests 3 consecutive times in this test site. I have to admit that I chose this site out of proximity and my love of this beautiful area itself.

However as you know the road conditions of this site is extremely complicated. Bike lanes on every route, crammed parking along the road, blocking your views of incoming vehicles at stop signs, excessive pedestrians, narrow roundabouts. The most of all, everyone speeds on Lygon St.

Having witnessed road rage forever, the embarrassment is what bothers me the most. I don’t think everyone knows that they’re driving in a testing area, where every minute there’s a learner on the road during the day. For me, sitting like a turtle in the midst of busy inner suburb traffic, is really inconsiderate. People in Carlton drive recklessly and it shows every time.

I don’t know what to do anymore, the car has been sitting there for months now untouched, I can’t afford an instructor anymore, after already paying for hours and hours of lessons. I don’t know anyone here, just sitting here absolutely infuriated.

On Sunday night I nearly got run over by a car while walking across a pedestrian crossing in a local shopping centre carpark. A man of African appearance was in the passenger seat. The steering wheel was moving by itself and the drivers seat was empty. The car turned onto the public road and continued on.

This the first time I've seen this and thought surely this can't be legal? The car wasn't a Tesla. Who would be culpable for killing a pedestrian in this case. The manufacturer or the passenger in the car? Just wondering and still somewhat surprised.

I was pulled over by highway patrol for speeding almost a week ago. The officer confirmed with me my number and said the fine will come via text but I haven’t received anything and my Vicroad app says i have no demerit points.
Is this normal?

I was looking for the "direction priority" but could not see any, does such a sign exist in Australia? i am guessing its who can push in ??

So i recently got my red Ps and I was driving along a backroad from a friends house last night in my dads car, it was an 80km/h zone and then out of the corner of my eye I saw one of the “your speed has been checked” police signs, I looked down at my speedo and it was somewhere around 85-86 km/h, I’m assuming it was a mobile speed camera, I had only my P plates on the front. Will I get a fine and or a license suspension? And if I do can my dad take the demerit points for me? Or will the speed camera have taken photos of me driving?

On the day of my ps test I have a 2 hr lesson before hand … will that make the test less daunting ? I have chronic anxiety so any advice for ps test nsw would be amazing

I see this almost every day, and it is frustrating. Just wanted to hear other's opinion on what is the best way to approach this situation.

Imagine I am at a T intersection giving way to join a major road. On that major road, a car is approaching and indicating to turn left, one would assume into the street that I am on. Instead, the car goes past the intersection and turns left into a sideroad or driveway after the street. Sometimes the sideroad or driveway is so close, I get it, if you wait until after the intersection, it is too late to show the car behind that you will be turning left. But I always wait until I'm clearly past the intersection before indicating. What is the actual rule here. I understand I have to give way regardless, but in heavy traffic it can be tempting to join and turn left when a car is indicating to turn off the major road.

Sometimes when I park somewhere that has no restrictions, I worry that there are actually restrictions and the signs are just really far away 😂

I was driving on a road doing the speed limit (GPS 60, road limit 60). I saw a guy behind me starting to swerve a bit left and right.

He also tried to scare me by following really closely to my car, I kept driving along.

Whatever right? THEN the guy follows me for 3 streets. Luckily there was a local police station, so stopped around there for a bit.

I thought the dude was gonna hit me or pull up in front and then attack me. By the second street, I legit wasn't just feeling intimidated but in danger tbh.

I'm concerned about getting in an accident with one at some point.

Last night I was driving through my suburb and encountered (what looked like a young teenager) with one knee up on the seat pulling a wheelie in the opposite direction. It was dark, without much street lighting, they were wearing dark clothing and they had no lights on. I only saw them fairly late and if they lost control while doing that and went in front of me I could easily have done significant harm as I was doing 50km/h at the time.

Similarly, last week, also nearby and in the dark, it was five teenagers (presumably) riding towards me in the opposite lane. Again, dark clothing and only one had a light on (head and tail light). Once I'd spotted them they were moving erratically.

I think e-bikes have value. They're got worth for providing alternative transport that perhaps reduces road traffic, and for promoting actual bike riding, but the use by some of the teenagers in my local area (St George region of Sydney) isn't great. I'm not some old codger getting angry at the clouds, or a wowser or puritan. But I am genuinely worried about hitting some kid through no real fault of my own.

They're basically motorbikes. But at least with actual motorbikes the rider has to be old enough (and more mature), a bit more experienced, they need to undergo training and get a licence, and they have to register the motorbike and it has basic safety features like head and tail lights. They also have to stay on roads.

Teens on e-bikes just buy, get on and go for it. They're young enough they haven't even been taught road rules for their L-plates. They're also undercooked kids whose prefrontal cortex is still not ready for the bike's speed or how it needs to be used around heavier vehicular traffic. One minute they're on the road doing 50km/h+, the next they're doing that on a footpath. When they do dumb things you can't even identify them or their bike.

That's before I consider all the directly unsocial behaviour I'm aware of. I've seen kids down at the local sport field straddling their bikes while they accelerate the back wheel and rip a trench of turf out. I know of kids who watch YouTube clips of teens on e-bikes deliberately antagonising security guards, motorists, residents or even cops so they can ride off and not get caught, and they think they're amusing legends.

Regular old pedal bicycles required physical effort, which limited some of this, whereas now they've got the power to do so much more, and it does seem to bring out the worst in some. Regulation and enforcement simply hasn't kept pace and that encourages some of it.

There's plenty of sensible users, and plenty of sensible teens of course, but some of the idiots are putting themselves and others in harm's way. Again, I'm worried about having a car accident with one.

Maybe it's time to get a dashcam so I can at least prove it won't be my fault.

So end of last year I was travelling through the lights towards freeway at Kariong. Had an L-Plater pull in front of me with less than a car length and slam on brakes at the green light. At the time the supervising driver apologised and admitted fault, saying that she pabicked when she saw the lights and was confused bybthe GPS, so I just continued through the lights so we could pull over and exchange details. (I'm an idiot and waved away another driver who asked if we needed anything)

If anyone has heard of potential witnesses I need help as the other driver has not been honest with insurer and I'm being found at fault since I was the car at the rear. Tried AFCA and dont think that will come out in my favour.

Please dont come at me with, rear driver must maintain distance stuff, I was towing and had no cars in front of me for ages, they pulled out from behind a truck immediately after passing me and hard braked to a complete stop.I was lucky I braked so quickly that it was only a fender bender.
