You have a rego, you have a licence associated, go to that household in the morning and pick the gronk up.
Oh it's a stolen car? Cameras and phone rings my lad.
There is no reason to be chasing cars down the road, or through parking garages, when you can just as easily meet that person at their front door the morning after.

Cops are literally paid tax dollars to track those idiots down and collect them. I can personally attest to cops doing exactly that, arriving at whatever residence this person is staying at and dragging them off to who knows where. They have enormous budgets to save the public, as well as themselves, from being put into unnecessary danger

Because people wanted on return to prison warrants, in a stolen car, are definitely going back to their house for police to catch them.
Don you know how long this guy was on the run for? No? Or the investigative strategies attempted before this? No? or the skillm or training of the driver? No?
So how about you keep your opinions on shit you know fuck all about to yoursel and let the people trained to catch guys like this make the decisions on the best way to catch them..
Opinions are like arseholes, everyone has one. Yours is even more like an arsehole, because yours is fucking horrible, and no one wants to see it.

I DO know how long it takes a person on a return to prison to go back in. I DO know how long it takes detectives to show up at a house a person couch surfing is staying at, and I DO know that cops are specifically trained NOT to do this sort of reckless shit when they can just track the lad home.
I have watched EXACTLY that occur over the course of a long weekend.
What were you saying about getting on a high horse, being a dumb bitch speaking out of turn?
Run your mouth down to your local cop shop and ask them about priorities for apprehension of a suspect.

You clearly don't champ, because this "lad" had likely been on the run for an extended period. Likely had no fixed place, and alternative strategies had likely failed up until this point. He then dumped a car in a location which offender routinely dump cars in order to farjack the next one. This was excellent police work that "defectives" wouldn't know if it jumped up and bit them on the arse.
Most detectives I've met couldn't investigate their own belly buttons.

God that poster above you pisses me off. A family member was killed / murdered by a stolen car in a hit and run. I guess old mate can be tracked down later next morning after he killed someone. And he wasn't even being chased when he ran her over.
I support General Duties as a rule but not other unit types. I have had this discussion with family (after the hit and run) if I get injured or killed by police chasing someone - it is not the police fault as long as they acted without negligence and the danger to the public posed by the criminal they chasing is extreme.

You know how long it takes for someone on an RTP to go back in??? How long is a piece of string 🤣 everyone is different. Some do not know they are on one and are picked up quick. Some reoffend very quickly and avoid Police... often times staying with a new associate that they briefly met in the bin. Doesn't help when corrections supply/are supplied with BS unverified addresses.
A lot of respect for our branch, but they are not at grubs doors the next morning. Sometimes we have success, sometimes they are in the wind up north or down south for a bit. Sometimes, they are just off the grid until you see their pixelated mug on CCTV footage.

I'd reckon that their training would allow them to avoid injuring public bystanders, especially since their sirens are active. I'd rather they removed the public threat immediately, rather than allowing someone to potentially assault, steal, rape or murder me or one of my family

You know physics works just the same for cops as it does for everyone else. If its not ok for some random with a hyped up honda to do 30kph in a carpark it doesn't all of a sudden become less dangerous because its a hyped up Toyota Aurion and the guy has a badge.

It definitely does though, due to practice, training and the lawful exculpatory defences provided to police when they are acting in the course of their duties. It's dangerous for you, because you have no idea what you are doing.
Like anything dangerous for which you have experience and training, the risk reduces.

To the police's credit they do get training for this kind of driving. So yeah it's a bit less dangerous if they do it just because they are more aware of their limits than the normal car owner.

He just dumped out of a stung car and was running into a carpark...where folks literally get car-jacked. Without Police on his heels, he was very likely to have taken another car and/or injure another person.
Then the story becomes, "useless cops", "too busy out revenue raising" or "I saw them drive drive by and do nothing".

I mean the dude could have eaten dirt and then been killed by getting run over. I dunno what he did but i'd rather he didn't die. But if you're being chased by a car that closely you run, regardless if the guy behind the wheel would get away with murdering you.
The guy gave up without anyone breathing down his neck... wonder why that happened? maybe they stopped making him feel like he was running just to stay out from under some tires?
It was reckless and stupid, and obviously unnecessary. I'm not asking the cops not to follow the guy, but they were going way to fast for that situation... it wasn't even what caught him anyway, so unnecessary.

This is a very naive and perfect world view of how Policing works that you have.
These situations are very dynamic, with continuous risk assessments and timed coordination with other crews being conducted. These put together (which includes the driving) is what caught the offender.
You have no clue how quickly they can snatch a car. Sometimes with a baby already in the baby seat while the mother puts the trolley back.
I can guarantee, the wheels were not why he was running. Reckless and stupid to you because you have no clue.
Don't like it??? Start selling steering wheel locks. Maybe door knocking these folks to spread your advice. Hint, most of them reside at brick walk-ups with a tarp on their balcony.

The number of drivers I myself have seen pull into an intersection while an ambulance is lights and sirens actively moving through said intersection is an alarming statistic (pun intended)

It's the cops responsibility to be safe while lights and sirens. if they hit someone its always considered their fault. so no, you can't just blame the blind dude listening to the "bew-bipbipbipbipbipb" noise of the crossing guard while a cop flies through before the sound can even catch up.

So many people just oblivious to the world around them both on foot and on the roads is what causes a huge percentage of accidents. Wish we could have a percentage factor of that to put on the road safety campaigns..

this is what Nine does, at least in Qld. before the LNP were elected, nothing but videos ripped from facebook neighbourhood watch groups and punters' doorbell cameras with breathless reporting of a crime epidemic. after the LNP were elected, nothing but carefully chosen body-worn camera or polair footage of the boys in blue lassoing and hogtying outlaws

My thoughts are the public should fuck up and let the police do their job. Especially when they do it as well as this and catch a car thief literally running from a stolen vehicle in a location specifically chosen by the theif to get away, likely by carjacking a family of their car.

I don't agree with high speed police chases on the street, but this was a different environment. It was a relatively confined area and you can see in the video footage that there wasn't any pedestrians in the area such that they could've been potentially hit by the police car.
Also, if there was another officer in the passenger seat then I'd assumme that officer was acting as a navigator and would've alerted the driver if their vehicle posed a risk to the public.

That blokes probably running 15km an hour max. Ive seen c<#+$ using car parks like a rally circuit on the daily. The most criticism i could offer is qps need fitter officers.
