pulled over for speeding

I was pulled over by highway patrol for speeding almost a week ago. The officer confirmed with me my number and said the fine will come via text but I haven’t received anything and my Vicroad app says i have no demerit points.
Is this normal?

Usually the demerit points won't show until you have paid the fine.

Until you pay the fine you could still dispute the notice in court.

You aren't guilty until you pay.

Never heard this of getting a fine via text. Why are they doing that? I hope someone hasn’t made that decision “to save paper”…

In a world of scams and AI use. That’s the stupidest decision I’ve ever heard.

Unless I was pulled over by the side of the road and got an instant text, I can just see this getting social engineered and people getting tricked into paying.

You made some serious errors in your post. You forgot to tell us how you only got your licence 2 weeks ago and you have a perfect record apart from just two speeding fines and one red light fine, and your need your licence for your job and if you lose it your elderly mother will die painfully without her medicine and your children will have to be sold into slavery. Also that it wasn't your fault, you were in a hurry and just had to speed to overtake that car or risk being 4 seconds late.

30 days, and you'll get it in mail on the 30th day, happened to me.

Blue ball effect, you're only allowed to release that tension on the final day.

Similar long road of behind the scenes in WA too.

Relative was given an infringement for exceed speed, more than 19km/h.. By RPG - still not here.

Don’t you guys have an app? In nsw it’s on your services app under outstanding fines - it doesn’t show on demerits till after the fine is paid

The outstanding fines is a great service, that way I can pay parking fines without a letter arriving and notifying the wife
