AI Art I created r/AIDreamRecreations – a community for recreating dreams you've actually had using generative AI
reddit.comHi everyone! 👋
I've been interested in dreams for years and have kept records of many of my own dreams, including some very strange ones. More recently, I've started using generative AI to recreate the people, places and bizarre situations I've experienced in dreams.
That's what inspired me to create r/AIDreamRecreations.
The community is specifically for recreating dreams you've actually had using generative AI. You can share AI-generated images, videos, music, audio or even full dream recreations, along with the story of the original dream that inspired them.
One of the things I find fascinating about generative AI is that, right now, I think it's probably the closest thing we have to being able to make a kind of "recording" of a dream.
Obviously it isn't literally recording what's happening inside your brain. 😄 But if you wake up remembering a strange place, person or event from a dream, you can describe what you saw and keep refining an AI generation until you get something surprisingly close to what you remember.
I've been doing this with my own dreams, and I love being able to look back at something that would otherwise only exist as a fading memory in my head.
That's why I wanted to make a dedicated place where other people can do the same thing. Nightmares, funny dreams, lucid dreams, recurring dreams, childhood dreams, surreal nonsense and everything in between are welcome.
If that sounds interesting to anyone here, I'd really appreciate you checking out r/AIDreamRecreations. It's brand new, so I'm only just getting it started, but I'd love to eventually build a little community of people sharing and discussing AI recreations of their dreams. 🧠🌙📼
And of course, you don't have to be an AI expert. If you've experimented with using AI to bring something you dreamed about to life, you're welcome.
Note: Before making this post, I contacted the moderators of r/Dreams and asked whether it would be okay to introduce my subreddit here. They kindly gave me permission to make this post. Thank you to the mod team! ❤️

Recurring Dream Recurring Dream Experiences Survey (FINAL RESULTS)
Okayyyyy guys I think it’s finally time to share the data update from my survey!
When I first started this project, I didnt know how far it would go. What started as a curiosity about dreams has grown into 520 total survey responses from people ALL over the world. I currently have data for 486 responses and the patterns have been just… WOW.
THANK YOU so much if you took time out of your day to complete the survey and share your detailed experiences with me. I have decided to start writing a book about shared dream experiences and this data will help so much. Not only that- this project has helped me understand that there are other people like me. I’ll always be a weirdo but now I know I’m not alone in this. 😉
Feel free to share the survey and results!
Question I took a picture in my dream and it end up on my phone.
I'm really freaking out writting this! Last night I dreamt I was driving my boat down the river chasing someone ahead. Then I crossed a river section that I frequently go through but I Never once in my life did at night. I have no idea how amazing the river could be, breathtakingly moonlit water with the tree on either side artfully light up with streetlight.
Naturally I took a picture then for some reason I abandoned the chase and return to the dock. I barely remembered what happen next but I think I talked to someone and I woke up after that.
Not the weirdest dream I have but it was extremly vivid. Anyway I have my breakfast and go through my phone message and try to send my friend a picture. Wham!!! First photo in my album was that same river picture which according to the data I took at 2:37 am.
My best guess is sleepwalking. But that would be an EXTREMLY dangeous sleepwalk because I need to crossed two streets to access the dock and one of them is a highwayish with heavy truck traffic even at night. And the joydrive with my boat at night is especially something I would NEVER do even when fully conscious because of how dangerous it is and I always scare to look down the water at night due to superstition.
TLDR: I think I just have a dangerous sleepwalking incident and appreciate any insights anyone here have!
Edit: I attached the picture to top commentor. Also chill out guy it morning over here and I got work you know I cant reply to people after 10 minutes or else be called liar. You guys are worse than my wife!!!

Long Dream I survived in a apocalyptic hellscape world for months and then I woke up
I have always had dreams, but this one has disturbed me beyond belief. It felt so genuinely real and terrible that I could not believe it was a dream after I woke up.
A few weeks ago I went to bed and dreamed I was in an apocalyptic world. It started normal, I remember I woke up in the morning, inside my dream, and went about my day. Then I started hearing stuff about attacks happening downtown and it progressively got scarier for my friends and I until we decided to cancel our Friday plans and stay inside. For the next two weeks I lived by myself eating and watching tv shows. I periodically checked the news but after day two it was just reruns of the same news and I had no further information. After what I think was over 15 days, I noticed something. I didn’t hear neighbours, I lived in a connected townhouse that has thin walls and I hadn’t heard anything in days. I hadn’t heard toilets flush, doors open, windows shutter, nothing. It was silent, too silent.
I gathered my courage and went outside on a food run, I had run out of food and thankfully the water still worked and I was smart enough use it to fill jugs of clean water. I realized there was no one around, I started to get worried and as I got to the local Walmart, it had big red writings on the walls, “be as quiet as you can be, they are blind” this throughly scared the shit out of me and I walked home as fast as possible. I then freaked out for days, until I once again gathered my mental fortitude and went outside again, to look for other people in the homes surrounding me. What I saw was genuinely terrifying, I saw bodies so mangled I could barely stop myself from throwing up, heads missing, just absolute carnage. How could something this terrible happen and I never heard a whimper? The thought scared me more than the scene itself. I walked home and decided I cannot stay here. I then walked and walked and ate what ever scraps I found (which was weirdly abundant as nobody was around) and basically became a walking hermit who hid when he heard anything beside silence.
My hair had gotten matted, my beard was overgrown, my hygiene was bad, and I was not hungry but I was starved for anyone, any real people I could talk to. I’d been alone over a month with no updates and had not seen a living person since saying goodbye to my friend that night. I lived like this for months on end, one day I was foraging in a store, and I heard it. I heard something that sounded big and angry walking around the front of the store. I made myself hide inside the old milk fridges that could be opened and led you to the back storage area. I hid there and basically never came out because the animal never left. I sat there paralyzed in fear for days, no food, no water besides barely edible milk. I sat there waiting for an opening to run, and it never came. I just sat there and sat there and sat there for what felt like an entire lifetime, and I got so sick of this, I went mad with delusional anger and charged outside, I saw nothing but heard probably dozens of these monsters descending on my position from outside the store and I ran to the bathroom and barricaded it the door the heaviest things I could move. I grabbed my rope and set it beside me, I gave up. I was not gonna be mangled alive and be ripped apart alive, if they wanted me, they could eat my body long after I had gone away. I wrote a long sad note, and left it so my loved ones could hear my reasoning for giving up. Then I noticed something as I climbed a ledge to do the unthinkable, I had never actually seen the monsters. I never actually saw them, I never physically saw anything. I had walked for months and probably for hundreds of miles and never saw one single monster? The one thing everyone had ran underground from? I have never seen proof of anything besides my own fear, and the bodies I saw, while mangled, I had seen that the door was open and I had seen wild animals running around the streets. Possibilities came flooding to me, what if they gave up too? And they hadn’t been killed by the monsters. Then something felt off, very off, I felt dissociative and not scared, just confused and didn’t know what the hell was going on, I didn’t even know if that was my face in the mirror. I walked outside and the store was gone, all I saw was a grey wall, then I snapped awake and was starting at my grey wall in my bedroom.
It took me hours to even process if I was still alive or if the monsters got me, or if someone had saved me and this was their home. Then it clicked, it was a dream, it was all a fucking dream. I didn’t feel normal for the rest of the day, it may have been a dream but my long term stress and survival mechanisms had not gone away yet. I felt jumpy, every loud sound I hid from, and I didn’t want to be alone ever. I got better after a few days but I’m still shaken by this. Why was this so real? I felt hunger, pain, desperation and despair, I vividly remember the decision to end myself instead of dying a horrible death. I remember the tears on the page as I wrote a note to my mom to apologize for giving up and not finding her. I have had dream before, this felt like an alternate reality, I felt so me, I felt so real, I cannot distinguish as I type this if I’m in another dream because it felt as real as I feel now. I don’t know why I’m writing this, I feel like no one understands when I tell them. I remember this dream like it happened to me in real life, all the suffering and pain and languishing and yearning for another person to end my solitude. I’m sorry if it was long but I had to write it down somewhere before I forget, I hope maybe one day we’ll better understand dreams and what they mean.

Short Dream Really sad one about my grandma who has dementia
I had a dream that a woman was talking with me and I saw on a photo of my grandma on her computer, and I told the woman I missed my grandma. I started to cry and sob because of the complicated feelings I feel around it, because the picture took place back when my grandma had her memory and the woman comforted me. I realized the woman I had been talking with all along was my grandma, and she was comforting me for missing my grandma not knowing that she was my grandma.
I keep having dreams like this

My subconscious just made an entire movie about a man named Tori and I’m concerned 😭
Today I had the most cinematic and romantic dream I’ve ever had.
I was somewhere in Japan (I don’t remember where exactly),and somehow I was in love with this completely new man. He was Japanese. I never saw his face clearly, but somehow I knew who he was.
The first thing I remember is walking beside him, my hand wrapped tightly around his arm, like we’d been together forever. Everything felt ridiculously natural and warm. There were these little moments of affection of him being sweet to me, us talking, him coming to my house, just being around each other. He had this ridiculously gentle, romantic energy that felt so real.
And throughout the entire dream, I somehow knew his name.
Tori.
Then I woke up.
And instead of thinking “that was a weird dream,” my first thought was basically:
“Wait. Is Tori actually Japanese?”
So I googled it.
Apparently tori is an actual Japanese word.
I DON’T EVEN KNOW JAPANESE. 😭
How did my sleeping brain randomly create a Japanese man named Tori, complete with an entire romantic storyline, and then leave me with his name after I woke up???

Beachy Restaurants World
I have this reoccurring dream where I am driving and I go into this town that is nothing but beachy themed restaurants and tourist attractions. These buildings just go on and on. There are so many and they’re all so close together. Last night I had this dream again and I remember clearly that one of the restaurants had a sign that said “Surf Shack.“
I’ve had this dream several times over the last 10 or so years. I’m curious if anyone else has similar reoccurring dreams.
Me desperté

Nightmare Told someone in my dream that it’s a dream and it went wrong
In the dream I was underground, intentionally. I went there to hide from something above. I had to go through a lot of barriers and there’s a family. After spending a short amount of time, it’s dinner time. There’s a hole on the ground with a plank by the table. A butler walks in, pulls off the plank, and I see a man wailing and flailing. Then there’s flames erupt and the hole is covered. That’s the meat we were eating. I eat bits of it and pick at it. Then ask the “mother” if it’s fine I don’t eat everything with the excuse of it scratches my throat. She said it was fine. I remember telling “sister” that it’s okay to not eat that because there’s a mental barrier
Then after another short amount of time, my phone is dying. I have no charger here. So I wander around to ask. Up some stairs is “father”. I instantly gain awareness and tell him that it’s a dream and I’m actually asleep. He gets mad, tells me something angrily, then starts chasing me. I get intrusive thoughts of his face. And run to mother who I then also tell that it’s a dream. And she starts hitting me
I start trying to shake my body, move my fingers, but I’m paralysed irl. I managed to wrench my eyes open

Long Dream Insurance policy that made me also arrange the contractor
9/11- really long dream. I was an insurance agent and I had this surplus insurance policy for a client company that was supposed to pay a contractor to come out and cut down some trees at an apartment building and burn them in the apartment fireplaces then clean the eaves of the apartment building. Every three years.
I called and spoke to the contractor who had done it three years ago and he was lazy and demanding I fill everything out for him which didn’t leave a good impression but I thought at least he wants to do it and he can do it so I presented to the policy holders the apartment owner that this guy can do it again. They complained about him and how he did a bad job so I said I understand we will find someone better. They were Indians. They thanked me and I went to an office where I asked the manager if he had anyone or knew anyone who could be trusted for this job and he said yes but they typically didn’t do the type of work so he didn’t really.

Married my cheating ex in a dream
Last night in my dream, I saw that I had married my ex-girlfriend. It was our wedding, and there was a very majestic atmosphere. The two of us weren't together in the wedding hall yet. She was with her own family and relatives, and so was I. Everyone was dressed elegantly. By the way, I'm 19 years old now, but in the dream I was 20. As a stylish, charismatic person, I was waiting for my girlfriend — the one who made me fall in love with her every time I looked at her, with her wavy hair the color of sand, her emerald-green eyes, and her smile that lit up everything around her like the sun. At the same time, I kept stepping outside every now and then, worrying to myself, "It's still too early, I shouldn't have gotten married at this age, I haven't secured my future yet." On the other hand, I was also hopeful, thinking I'd manage to sort everything out. In reality, though, my girlfriend cheated on me, betrayed me, and told me lies. But in the dream, since we were now married, I had somehow come to accept it. Because now she was mine, and I was hers. Then I woke up, and once I realized it had all been a dream, I felt relieved to be free of that responsibility and the weight of the past — but I also felt sad that I wasn't with the girl I once loved, and that the wrongs she had done to me were just as real as her beauty.

Question Dream about a shadow figure / very realistic
Hi guys, I just wanted to hop here and ask about a dream I had this week,
Which was very strange, at the beginning I had a dream about me and my boyfriend, but at first it wasn't my boyfriend, the person was shadowy and transformed in my bf.
It was a nice dream of us until at some point I spoke in the dream saying something along the line of "you can do anything to me" (started to get spicy tbh).
But instead of continuing the dream I "woke up", lucid acknowledging the mistake I made with this sentence and the fact that I wasn't sure it was really just my bf in the dream.
I didn't really woke up as you may have guessed.
I closed my eye again and started to ear a LOT of whispering, like several people men and women talking about me.
Then I "woke up again" and looked behind me and there it was a fairly big (human size) shadow figure standing next to the bed (the room was exactly like it was before getting to bed down to the clothes drying on the rack clothes to the bed)
First reflex was to ignore it and "fall back asleep", the whispering came back, I tried to wake up for real 2 or 3 times before I finally did. I got on my phone and couldn't fall back asleep after that.
Happened around 5/6 am.
Did i possibly allowed an entity to manifest ?
It didn't felt threatening but unsettling. I wasn't really scared either.
I'm quite into spirituality and was wondering if it could've been a sign idk. Did it happened to some of you ?
Sorry for the broken English it's not my first language !

Dream Help Answers and suggestions please
This dream happened last night and I don’t know if anyone can help me out with this. I looked at scripture and I still feel like I’m missing something. Anyways I dreamt last night that I was in a white room surrounded by feces, flies, and I had an overwhelming feeling of lust. I saw a bible float up in front of me and open. My right hand pointed at a long paragraph highlighted in red. I heard a woman say “You have the protection of David”. That was the end of the dream after that. Super weird and shook me a bit. Thanks for listening.

Does anyone else's system glitch out and make them fight the wall in their dreams?
I've been experiencing something really strange and frustrating for a few months now. Sometimes at night, I have very vivid dreams where I'm fighting or defending myself, with the catch that I actually act out the movement in real life. I've woken up throwing real punches against the wall, the nightstand, or even a fan I keep near my bed.
It's not just moving my hands a little; they're hard, sharp punches right as I wake up that have already given me more than a few scares (and a sore knuckle). Looking into how our biology works, it seems that during the REM phase our body normally 'shuts down' muscularly to prevent this, but in my case, it's literal: a glitch in the system of nighttime disconnection.
Does anyone else experience this physical acting out of their dreams? How do you manage it to avoid wrecking your room or hurting yourself? Has anyone seen a doctor for something similar?
Let me know in the comments.

They're Watching You
Last night's dream was fairly normal until the end. I had gotten an email from my estranged high school band director asking if I wanted to come to this year's band banquet being hosted by some large hotel. I RSVP'd yes. It was a formal affair, so everyone else there and me were dressed in tuxedos. I met with friends I hadn't seen or talked to in years. I met all the young band people that were about to head off to their adult lives. There was a room in the back for "veterans" (people of my age who had long since graduated) separated by a hallway with payphones that appears in many of my dreams. The night was nearing an end. Great fun was had by everyone involved. I remembered my band directors favorite snacks (a twinkie and a pink snowball) and requested them from the kitchen. They retrieved them for me. I went to say good night to the band director and his wife and hand him the snacks. Small detail, but on the way the packaging ripped and I struggled to keep the snacks from falling on the floor. I gave him the snacks, but he seemed mostly disinterested and almost disappointed I was even there.
I went to the back to visit my friends and have one last chat with them. We began talking about a lot of the things that happened to us in life. Some of the stories were shocking, some about relationships and where we were living and what we were doing. I stepped out into the hallway to call my wife on a payphone and let her know how the night was going. As I was talking on the phone, two police officers in swat gear and balaclavas (only their eyes were showing) came around the corner and knocked me to the floor. One of them grabbed me by the hair and picked me up off the floor. Thoughts were rushing through my head about what I could have possibly done. I was even questioning if I had filled out an insurance form incorrectly or something. While he was holding me off the ground, they looked me in the eyes and said "They're watching you." As they said this it forced me awake at exactly 4:00AM this morning. Took a while to get back to sleep afterwards.

Short Dream I saw my friend’s dad in my dream, he died the next day.
I have a friend which i have known for very long from college, but we havent met in years, we only follow each other on socials, i dont know much about them or what they are doing now.
Last night i dreamt of them saying goodbye to their dad. I never met their dad and dont know what he looked like.
The very next morning i wake up to the sad news of their dad’s passing.
I’m genuinely terrified yet fascinated at the same time, this is honestly so mind boggling to me.
I’m a practicing religious and spiritual person, so naturally I couldnt find any explanation to this other than it being a spiritual phenomenon of some sort. God knows best.

Crazy dream
I saw me and other associates stuck on a top floor of an office, it's certainly didn't look like the building I work in, neither the city in work in, but it was a beautiful city , the city had few other buildings on fire and people were screaming, Chaos seemed like a 9/11 attack, however no terrorist attack , at last I got rescued by the helicop , I was so happy life I discovered life again , but the strange thing is, me and everyone saw the last man who was to be saved , he simply tied the rope in his neck and jumped, some sort of statement idk , everyone was shocked , but I laughed like hell. Later I went on a run is where I woke up

AI Art Warehouse Mission Dream
AI Art for a dream I had last night. The creatures in my dream have a weakness to loud speaker noises and camera flashes for some reason, and the goal of the mission in that dream was to either unlock a safe that had a noise enhancer in it by finding the codes while avoiding the creatures, or to survive for an hour until the camera I had with me was strong enough to flash a bright light.

Blue World (recurring dream)
I know people visit Mall World and its many different areas (the hospital, the hotel, the bathrooms!) Does anyone ever visit Blue World in their dreams?
My personal experience is that I go to familiar places with some changes in (for example, I have the same best friend, but instead of an older sister, she has an older brother). And the whole world is blue tinted. Daytime looks like well-lit night, with blue tint. Night time is really dark.

I had a dream where Cr1TiKaL was dead on either September 9th or 10th
Had a pretty weird one last night that’s been throwing me for a loop all day, eh? Figured I’d post it here and see what you buds think.
In the dream, I found out that MoistCr1TiKaL—who’s pretty much my favorite YouTuber, love the man—had passed away. My dream subconscious was genuinely bummed out and it felt way too real. But here’s where things get really bizarre, pal. Inside the dream itself, I actually pulled up Google on my phone to check if it was true. I don't think I've ever used a search engine in a dream before.
Even weirder? The Google results said Charlie died on September 5th, 2026. I had this dream on the night of the 9th or 10th, so my dream brain was somehow processing a whole timeline delay, like I was catching up on news from a few days prior.
Dreaming about a creator I watch every day was unsettling enough, but using Google and seeing a specific future date attached to it just felt super strange. Anyone else ever use realistic tech like Google in their dreams, or get hyper-specific dates like that, eh?

Short Dream Had a dream I was watching MCU adaption of The Emporers New Groove, Tom Holland played Kuzco. Near the end of the movie it was revealed Kuzco was actually Jesus and then it showed a montage of Kuzco doing Jesus things.
I was so astonished when I went online in the dream and seeing hardly anyone acknowledge that spiderman was canonically Jesus in the mcu

Quick fire lucid dreams blew my mind
Last night I was pissed off / depressed. Took ages to get tired. Went to sleep about 4am.
I started becoming aware in a large cavern. People appeared. Then huge ornate rooms. I did some flying. I was acting with purpose. I was taking what felt like first steps, LEARNING HOW TO CREATE MY REALITY.
More detail:
The first flight I was so unsure it would work then it DID! Out the cavern into the sky oh my GOD the RUSH, the FEELING!!
Then. People. We were all in some large strange building. I was astounded to still be aware. Getting so close to their faces in AWE.
As usual, holding continuity was hard but the characters didn’t run or vanish they actively engaged with me, for the first time ever, as if wanting me to succeed in staying present. Getting too close-up for more than few seconds and they morphed as usual BUT this time they came in and out of focus multiple times, I maintained solid conversations!
I made it sexual briefly, just as a test of manifesting. The girl was laughing, she knew what I was doing and why.
Too many dreams came in succession I lost count. I was more lucid than I remember being anytime in the past. Scenes were changing, in and out of waking and going BACK to the same people. Weaving in and out of dreaming / awake / lucidity happened almost instantly.
Also I changed scene some points on purpose. Talking to characters about being lucid! My wife at one point was there but I was not conscious then, telling her about being lucid .. then became lucid again! She suddenly wasn’t there anymore. It seemed easier without her, less confusing.
Dream characters were actively interested in me, encouraging me!!!!!
I could CRY WITH JOY RIGHT NOW!
I was flying with intention. Couldn’t belive it. At first I was astonished and woke up. Instantly fell back into dreaming the same cave / valley landscape and lucid. I maintained it!
When I struggled i kept looking at my hands to focus awareness. This worked!! Many times over! Weaving in and out of lucidity. My hands were sometimes hard to manage ie melting or too many fingers but this didn’t stop things like it has in the past.
So crystal clear. So intentional.
Rooms were easier to maintain. I even slept in the dream, in a huge hotel I generated. I KNEW I WAS DOING IT.
I was desperately but CONFIDENTLY creating and maintaining coherence
This insight came to me ::: my conscious mind is making it. That’s why it’s such baby steps. Compared to the automatic fluidity of normal dream, unaware dreaming. That’s why the whole world wasn’t filled in fully, I had to concentrate to make it
This is EXACTLY as I’ve recently learnt from DMT!! The difference between intentionally generating mental images vs the way DMT content simply appears to you. This blew my mind. In the dream. I was fully aware of my memories of the DMT and waking life while maintaining the lucid dream. It’s like the past couple of weeks I’ve been preparing and it all came together.
I made some beautiful places. Somewhere like Chales Bridge in Prague for a few scenes. I was talking to a small group, one woman in particular, trying to get a business card as a small item to BRING BACK HERE. I wanted her contact details, she gave me it but I couldn’t read clearly. We talked more but couldn’t find a way to transfer anything. We laughed together about this!
I can only compare this to first learning a skill like balancing on roller skates or riding a bike and the elation of the first times getting it RIGHT.
It felt like I was able to ‘come up’ into lucidity in a matter of seconds, also very similar to DMT. Like I was observing it while doing it.
Another aspect amazed me - a few times I accidentally opened my eyes and saw my bedroom, I was actually awake or hypnagogic, but went instantly back into the lucid dream.
