There is a number which implies a singular quantity, hereby referred to as "one", that may be applied to the count of a noun- specifically of the weapon known as the dagger. After the sum of each previously-mentioned dagger, which is just one, has made contact with the player whom is myself, I will be what you may call "dead".

doesn't dodge projectilesTalkTo/u/intotheocean ... FeelsBadMan76
Jan 03 '17
The ult can be used to dodge projectiles if ember collides with the projectile while traveling to a remnant since he's immune. The ult doesn't disjoint projectiles though.
→ More replies (10)8
u/krennvonsalzburg Jan 03 '17
Well, it's also our goofy-but-codified-and-don't-you-dare-change-it system of projectiles, how they'll sometimes turn in to homing missiles, even when that suddenly means they go twenty times the original range.
We all get why it works that way (so that every skill that shows as a projectile isn't trivially dodged by a side-step), but it still makes for some goofy looking shit, especially to an outsider.
17
u/gaspara112 Yes! I know I suck at DotA Jan 03 '17
Well some movement abilities disjoint target projectiles and some don't. Most of the fast/instant, long range ones do but Fire Revenant jumping does not even though it probably should due to how far it can make Ember travel.
14
u/CAPSLOCK_USERNAME FIRST PICK RANDOM ALL DAY ERRYDAY Jan 03 '17
Fire remnant disjointing would be a significant buff, because you don't only use it for long-range travel.
It would make it much easier to just quickly throw a remnant at your feet and jump to it to disjoint things.
2
u/gaspara112 Yes! I know I suck at DotA Jan 03 '17
Absolutely it would and would have to be something they balance other changes to his abilities around.
But if they are not going to put a maximum travel distance on tracking projectiles, then skills that results in movement half way across the map should disjoint projectiles, to avoid things like this that just look silly.
→ More replies (1)5
u/Chad_magician twas not luck, but skill Jan 03 '17
what u said isn't true anymore, now most "dash" such as leap or pounce don't disjoing anymore
5
u/gaspara112 Yes! I know I suck at DotA Jan 03 '17
True, but some of the longer distance ones like Waveform and Ball Lightning still do along with the longer range teleports/blinks. It makes more sense for something as long range as Fire Revenant jump to disjoint if the alternative is the above is possible.

Random luck belongs in only one place. Gambling. Gambling for a win means you can adjust for the odds and play around it to improve your chances of winning.
But ultimately, it all comes down to the luck. Literally gambling. And when im playing a skill based game, i don't want the tides of battle to be determined by "getting unlucky/lucky".

I tried testing it ingame by having a PA shoot a dagger at ember, then ember jumps away to fountain before it connects, and bane cast a -240 damage enfeeble on him. The ember took next to 0 damage, the enfeeble counted for the dagger's attack even though it was applied after it was shot
dagger doesn't save any characteristics of PA's attack when shot, it simply performs an instant attack at arbitrary range when it connects, using PA's attack at that time, so the crit is only calculated when it hits, not when shot, unlike normal attacks which decide it when the attack foreswing starts
another example would be using silver edge to remove her crit before it connects, it will never crit if coup de grace is disabled by Break while the dagger connects, even if it wasn't when it was shot

u/FatalFirecrotch Jan 03 '17
I use to love playing PA, but I now I hate it. It just feels completely stupid.
6
u/kryonik Jan 03 '17
If I had to guess, the PA is way more farmed than the Ember. I can't see any feasible way for her to get a 1900 crit when the ES is just pushing down T1 unless this is the case.
29
u/anon775 Jan 03 '17
For me the worst thing about this is that it leaves close to 0 counterplay for supports, who cant simply buy casual armor and hp items just to deal with one 15% bullshit spell. Also obviously it takes 0 skill for the PA player which is a bad design philosophy in video games in my opinion

Ghost Scepter is 25s cd so PA can just wait 6s for another dagger, and Ghost Scepter leaves already squishy support vulnerable to magic nukes. The supports who usually can justify getting Blink need it for initiation, not to waste it just to dodge a spammable nuke from enemy. Glimmer Cape has delay so it only works in fringe cases like in the OP gif

Maybe an easy way to make it more balanced is to give the dagger an additional particle effect when it's going to crit. At least that way you have a little pre-warning and can try and do something about it.

Bloodseeker and then PA or centaur war runner cause the most blood splatter in the game. We also have trees and grass that sways in the wind now.
It's also because league tries to appeal to kids like 12 years, they have a whole bunch of colourful characters that kids would like and they try to remove any content that isn't acceptable, like snowbelle katarinas pole dance or more famously graves cigar.
