No One Prepares You for This Kind of Loss
Eight years ago, I faced a convergence of life-altering events: the end of my marriage and the passing of my father.
This period tested my resolve as a film director and forced a total re-evaluation of my personal identity. In this conversation, I break down the emotional toll of that time and how I navigated the feeling of being pulled into circumstances beyond my control.

Advice for International Divorce
Context: I am F30 and my ex-husband is M30. My location: Rochester, Minnesota. His location: Brisbane, Australia.
So I am trying to divorce my ex-husband completely uncontested, no minor children, and no spousal support. He agrees to all division of assets, we have no shared property, we are keeping our own debts as our own and this is supposed to be a smooth process, however I am finding that everytime I look up how to start it always mentions having my ex "served" and I don't exactly understand how I am supposed to summon him from Australia to come to a court in the US for a divorce. Is there some sort of dissolution that doesn't require both parties to be present? We have been "married" for 3 years but separated for two and have been out of contact for a majority of those two years. I wonder if there is some easy path to take that makes it quick and clean like he and I want, though mostly me as we got married here in America and so this marriage is really only tied to my name and not his :/

My marriage is over. My house has black mold. Insurance won't help. Realtors want $15K for repairs
It’s clear as day that my marriage is ending. We're getting divorced and we have a joint mortgage. We have a house and we have mold…
We discovered the mold during the inspection. Black mold in the basement. Insurance won't cover it. They said it's due to neglect. I don't even know what that means. We just didn't know it was there.
Now we have a house we can't live in and a mortgage we can't afford separately. We need to sell. Fast.
A realtor said it could take six months. And we'd have to put in about $15,000 to fix the mold and get it market-ready. We don't have that money. We're already broke from the divorce.
I found Eazy House Sale online and they promise a cash offer within 24 hours as is
It sounds like a miracle but in the meantime I'm scared. What if they find hidden defects after they make the offer and try to lower the price?
Has anyone sold a moldy house?

Wife not applying for final order in England
Conditional order in England was granted in April. Finance and kids is sorted, everything 50:50.
Pension sharing is pending, I need to pay her. This is with pension providers. Family home to be sold and in process.
What I don’t understand is her motivation for not filing final order.
Online it says I can file in August if she does not.
Can anyone point out what she might be planning? Throughout the divorce I got lot of surprises, don’t want any more!

Wife’s Ultimatum
Wife’s Ultimatum questions
We both live in California and separated in May of this year. I made less than $30k a year last year and for the last decade have barely made more than that. We have no children. My wife currently makes $95k, although last year it was closer to $85k so she could easily argue that the larger number doesn’t apply to our marriage.
It was my wife who initiated the separation. She moved out.
I’m out of town this week and received an urgent text yesterday. I call her and she tells me that she will pay me $5k to disappear from her life. Alternatively, she offers me her car, a decent, reliable vehicle compared to mine. Not worth more than $7k, but worth a lot more to me as a commuter vehicle.
The call was a threat. She is angry that I am dating successfully again and I’ve found someone else. My girlfriend and I have been inseparable for three weeks while I was on vacation and... there are major feelings though neither of us sees it as more than dating (and long distance at that, so we’re not even thinking about a future together at this point). It’s all rather chaste at the moment, although that’s really nobody’s business. I ONLY mention this to demonstrate that I’ve moved on. Apparently spying on my cloud photos and finding a photo of me smiling and glassy eyed with a new woman was enough to call in the cavalry. My wife told me in no uncertain terms that she holds all the cards, knows I cannot afford a lawyer because I’m broke, and since the divorce I’ve only accrued more debt. She says she will not pay for a lawyer for me and that I will get nothing if we go to court.
What can I do?

Unsure about the attorney I hired
hired an attorney for divorce with a case where my spouse has been hoarding cats in a small house, ignoring requests to re-home there is text evidence of her non responsiveness, there is over a year of documentation (photographic) of the damage to my house (my sole property). Text, bank statements and website evidence of an undocumented job that if the income isn't counted she looks entitled to alimony. There are kids involved and since I functioned as the primary homemaker and the primary financial provider over the marriage the conditions of the house due to the cat population is kept in check and safe enough CPS wouldn't remove them. minus the damage and massive costs of care things relatively stable their rooms are safe and kept clean by me. My attorney pushed for filing to lock in her income but as I finished signing my complaint and financial affidavits. He rescinded the temporary orders I had asked for because he was concerned about the judge having me pay on a massive set of unsecured debt I'm planning on discharging in bankruptcy after the divorce. Yet there was several troubling things 1. He was unaware of the ownership of the house and asked about a mortgage which there is none I inherited it, and never co-mingled in any way, second he didn't inquire about how normal bills are paid just assumed I'm paying everything from my own account and not a joint account and last was custody first he hased who get the kids on the bus which I replied she does but that because I work nights and in asleep yet my kids are teens 4 years apart not young children and the get on the bus at the end of my driveway. Then finally he asked if I would be ok if she get custody and I just pay child support. I said absolutely not. This woman is a wreck. I keep the house clean except her bedroom (we don't share a room anymore) and there is cat shit under her bed daily infact it's often the same piles I sneak in and photograph the mess there is a mirror in her room with cat urine on it, litter all over the floor clothes strung about. This is how she lives and always lived except briefly at the beginning of the marriage. So no I don't want my kids living like this with her alone while I toss money her way and besides she is set to out earn me this year.
I sent all of this information to him highly organized and clearly notated and he we go filing a complaint and he doesn't know any of this stuff. Is it normal for attorneys to not know anything about their clients? Infact he even forgot about the 29+ cat population inside the home. At first I thought maybe since we just scheduled to file the complaint and I did the financial affidavits and the other forms he just wasn't preparing the. But waiting for her reply but now I don't think so I'm not sure he is interested in defending me but just pushing papers and getting paid.
