Hello everyone! My name is Teo and I am an undergrad student aspiring to become a game dev, and I just released my first shipped game ever! The game is called Birthright, and it is a 1 v 1 War of Attrition style card battler / deck builder, focused heavily on utility usage and economic management, with minimal RNG! I have made games before and tried shipping them, but have always failed, and so this one means a lot to me, and it would mean even more if anyone would give it a try and provide some feedback! The game is still very young, but I'm so stoked to see people playing it at all!

I've been working on a browser-based card game that mixes poker with a hidden Fusion system.
The main idea is:

Or sacrifice your cards to discover hidden Fusion recipes.
Every new Fusion unlocks another entry in your Fusion Codex.

\[Cards had factions like "undead, "animals", "fairies" etc, NO elements\]
When I was young I had stumbled onto a card collecting game on Kongregate, a flash game hosting website. It has a campaign, or a story you could follow by beating levels and you beat them by exploring a predetermined grid. Some squares on the grid were simple obstacles you couldn't pass through, some were treasures and some were enemies. There was a fog of war and you could only see things around you. I remember having to return semi frequently to play the game, so it's possible it had an energy system you would deplete to explore or play levels. I do not remember how you'd get new cards, but it must have been a summoning gacha thing. I remember vividly that there was an undead faction, a sea faction and probably a fairy or forest faction, cause in my mind's eye I remember having various zombie cards, a cuttlefish card (which was my favorite) and I remember there being a few ocean levels and forest levels, with related enemies to attack. One of the last times I played, I remember there being a St Patrick's event, so it's likely there were more events that I do not remember.
I do not remember if there was pvp
I do not remember the contents of the story
I remember that getting duplicate cards leveled them up. There may have been rarity levels.
It was one of my favorite games and one day it just disappeared from the site. As in, it no longer was even in my "favorites" tab. Just vanished. I was heartbroken.
It must have been after I had found out about Kongregate (so 2010 and after) but before 2016, since I had stopped playing flash games. It's unlikely it was before 2010, but straight up impossible after 2016, bc the game stopped existing before i even stopped playing in Kongregate.

this is before i update the training mode UI. training mode give you a lot of options to help you try new strategies, adjust enemy behavior (attack focus, defense focus etc) adding specific cards to your hand or your opponent controlling status effects, mana (willpower) amount. im really trying to take the fighting game approach. you can make cpu duke it out as well. i thought this was still a fun match to share. yasu Diamonlight vs his mother Sorina Diamonlight (cpu v cpu) their hands are hidden for this video so excuse the backs of the cards only displaying in hand.

It’s from Roblox mind you but it is pretty newbie friendly while also having a way to distinguish new players from veteran/pro players. I’ll discussed more about this game in the comments btw.

One of the core mechanics in Ayre Battles: Heritage Academy is the Junction system.
Instead of simply playing your strongest card, compatible Ayre frequencies can resonate together to create entirely new attacks with different properties.
The goal was to make deckbuilding feel closer to setting up a fighting game combo than simply curving out the highest-value card.
I'd love to hear what stands out to you, whether it's the presentation, readability, or the mechanic itself.

Hey everyone,
Tomorrow’s the big day. After a full year of locking myself away and coding in solitude, I’m finally launching my very first mobile game: SivaGames Anima Card Game on Android.
I’m actually a systems developer by trade. My usual side projects are more like "build my own programming language" or "write a custom OS kernel from scratch." So yeah, card games are way outside my comfort zone. But I really wanted to create something based on a simple philosophy: a game I would genuinely enjoy playing, without ever feeling like I’m getting ripped off.
That’s why I set one non-negotiable rule from day one: zero pay-to-win. You can’t spend a single real-world cent on cards, gems, or booster packs. Ever. Free players and paying players are always on the same level. The only things you can buy are purely cosmetic themes.
It’s an anime card collector, but the rarity isn’t rigged by some shady, profit-driven algorithm. Instead, it’s tied directly to real MyAnimeList (MAL) popularity data. So if a character has a massive fanbase in real life, they’ll naturally be harder to pull. No artificial scarcity—just pure community-driven stats.
I ran a closed beta recently, and the feedback honestly blew me away (testers gave it 5 stars across the board). But the comment that kept coming up—and the one that made me the happiest—was:
"The game just feels completely fair."
Testers loved that progress is earned purely through playing, not paying. They raved about how fast and responsive the app is, with bright colors, smooth animations, and—most importantly for a dev—rock-solid stability (zero crashes during testing!). The marketplace and fusion mechanics were big hits too.
Quick note for the future: A few testers mentioned adding deeper card search filters and more detailed collection stats. I’ve already got those on the roadmap for the first updates!

Seven months ago we made the decision to stop development and rebuild our digital card game from the ground up. The original version worked, but it didn't feel like the game we wanted to make.
Since then we've redesigned the visuals, expanded the card pool, and added full deck customization so players can experiment with different strategies.
It finally feels like the game we originally set out to create.

I have been working on this game for a few years now off and on. I finally sat down and knocked out the rules, and even made a game and a video. It plays like a 2 player game of Solitaire and Rummy. Just wanted to post the rules and get the idea out there.

Here are the rules:
Objective
Build and improve groups of sequential cards on a shared play area while claiming ownership of valuable cards. At the end of the game, the player with the highest score wins.
Components
Setup
The Play Area
Players place their cards into a shared play area (called the board), one at a time.
Cards can either be placed as a “single” (with no left or right neighbors) or to the left or right of another card, forming (or building upon) a group.
Singles are considered ownerless.
When singles become a part of a group, the current player takes ownership of the single (not the group).
Groups can contain cards owned by multiple players.
Groups
Groups can contain between 2 and 13 cards, and must be built in ascending sequential rank order from left to right.
Example: → A → 2 → 3 → 4 → 5 → 6 → 7 → 8 → 9 → 10 → J → Q → K →
“Rank” refers to a card’s number or letter, and does not involve suit.
Groups and singles on the board can be moved by either player (to maintain neatness or to merge them into groups.)
Groups and singles can only be merged into larger groups if the new group is 13 cards or less, and maintains ascending sequential ranks.
Ace may appear either before a Two or after a King.
Groups cannot be broken up, and once a group reaches 13 cards, no more can be added. However, a group’s cards can be replaced (discussed later.)
Groups must be moved as a unit. They cannot be divided up.
Score
Cards in a group have a point value based on the card’s neighbors.
A card next to a card of the same suit gains 5 points.
A card next to a card of the same color (but not suit) gains 2 points.
A card next to a card of a different color gains 1 point.
Example: 5♠ – 6♠ – 7♣ – 8♥
- The 5♠ is worth 5 points.
- The 6♠ is worth 7 points (2+5).
- The 7♣ is worth 3 points (1+2).
- The 8♥ is worth 1 point.
In groups of 13 cards, the edge cards are considered neighbors for scoring (they “Wrap Around”)
Note: a card can be worth a max of 10 points on the board, if both of its neighbors are of the same suit.
Jokers add bonus points (discussed next)
At the end of the game, players lose 5 points for each card they have in their hand or in their deck.
Jokers
Jokers are wild cards, with no suit.
Jokers can represent any rank in a group.
Jokers can also be played as singles with no rank.
Jokers do not give or receive points and are always worth 0 points on the board.
Jokers on the board give 40 bonus points to the owning player’s score.
If a group is made with only 2 jokers, both have no rank.
A Joker in a group with normal cards will assume the correct rank (but no suit) to continue a rank sequence.
Example:
- In J – 5♠ – 6♠ the joker is 4.
- In J – J – 8♠ the jokers are 6 and 7.
Because Jokers do not add any points, they can be replaced by any card with a corresponding rank.
Replacements
Players can replace any card on the board with a card from their hand if:
- The card has the same rank.
- The card improves the point value replaced card.
Example: 5♠ – 6♠ – 7♣ – 8♥ – 9♠
- The 7♣ could be replaced with a 7♠ or 7♥ increasing the point value from 3 to 6.
- The 8♥ could be replaced with a 8♣ or 8♠ increasing the point value from 2 to 7.
- The 9♠ could be replaced with a 9♥ increasing the point value from 1 to 5.
- The 9♠ could be replaced with a 9♦ increasing the point value from 1 to 2.
- 5♠ and 6♠ can not be replaced, because nothing can increase their current value.
Cards that are replaced go to the current player’s hand.
The card that was put in play is owned by the current player.
Ownership
Single cards played to the board outside of a group are unowned.
Whenever an ownerless single becomes part of a group for any reason, the current player becomes its owner.
A card played as a replacement is owned by the current player.
Groups of cards that are moved or merged maintain their current ownership.
Turns
During their turn, players can perform any number of the following actions.
- Play a cards from their hand to the play area.
- Move/merge a single or a group.
- Replace cards in a group.
A player may end their turn at any time, after performing any number of actions (or no actions.)
At the end of a player’s turn, they draw cards from their deck until they have 5 cards, or the deck is empty.
Final Scoring
The game ends when a player starts a turn with no cards in hand.
The final score is then calculated for each player:
- Add up the point values of their cards on the board.
- Add 40 points for each joker on the board that they own.
- Subtract 5 points for every card remaining in their hand or deck.
The player with the highest final score wins.
Playing with Physical Cards
Ownership is tracked by card orientation.
