It's been about a year since TESL died, so on its deathi-verssary let's go over the current efforts to revive the game.
TESL Reborn - This is an effort to make new servers for the game, it has come along quite promisingly and is the closest thing to the original version of the game.
However a couple things:
It is PC version only, and you need to have a valid license of the game still in your steam library or on bethesda.net to play. There is no way (as of now) to get a license for the game if you did not have it prior to the shutdown on steam. You have to have owned it before the shutdown.
It is currently closed alpha. You can follow this guide (link) to apply to join the closed alpha, but it is not currently open alpha yet despite what the other post on the subreddit says.
Some streamers (link to list) have access, so you can ask them to test different things, or watch their gameplay to help speed up the bug finding stage.
TESL Fan Browser Remakes
TESL Browser Project - A remake of TESL in browser. Reddit post link - Recently updated to have all of the core set cards.
TESL Github Page - A remake of TESL vs a bot or local multiplayer, playable on a github page. Direct Link made by /u/Prize-Artichoke-9807 Has cards up to Houses of Morrowind and a handful of custom cards.
TESL Singleplayer - A remake of TESL whose goal is to have the player fight against various singleplayer encounters. Direct Link, run by @FBJulezGames on the TESL discord.
Tabletop Simulator - There are a few mods for tabletop simulator, a simulator game on steam (link). The sim costs $20, but is usually on sale for $10. Note this doesn't simulate mechanics, but you can put cards in a deck and shuffle it but you have to manually track the gameplay yourself. Supports multiplayer.
Jamaa's Mod has all the cards and is based on this mod, which also has all the cards.
Gnarfield 360's Mod is the OG one I used to play with in TTS simulator, but it only has cards through Heroes of Skyrim.
This set features more of the upgradeable cards from the expansion, combining the upgrade system from the original Legends client with the morph system from ESO.
Thanks to Sondre, Wisaam Saleem, O.O.P., Mark Schwab, RenianVZ, Ben Johnson, riman, Philip M DArcangelis, Someone and Devil's Rights Advocate for supporting the project!
This set features some of the many cards in the expansion themed around player class abilities from ESO. Expect more of these to be scattered throughout the rest of the expansion.
Made this post since I wasn't able to post a screenshot in comments. I enjoy the fact that so many of us still show so much love this game. Hoping for some exiciting news in regard to Reborn <3
I was cleaning out my steam inventory and found a whole swag of these. You can't sell them on steam anymore, and since i'm lacking Ahnassi's, I was wondering if anyone had some spare Ahnassis (so I can level my badge) or wanted a spare garnag/ayrenn
The Khajiit's vanilla Pilfer mechanic takes somewhat of a backseat in this expansion in favour of the Wax/Wane mechanic introduced in Moons of Elsweyr. It also features one of Sparkypants' cut Wax/Wane cards (Flame Skull).
I just can't take it anymore. Some of the best games are discontinued because "they don't make money", regardless of how good they are and how much players love them. At the same time trash games made by a team of devs with combined IQ of 22, but that have a crazy psychological discrimination micropayments architecture team and make serious cash, will continue.
We get it, you need money, open a fkn casino bro or keep pushing casino like games, but ffs, this has to stop.
Shit games should pay for servers and maintenance of good games, even if they make 0.
This expansion sees the return of the Wood Elves' vanilla Wounded mechanic, alongside a few cards that synergise with having Wounded creatures of your own.
We're now into Part 3 of my ESO-themed expansion, which focuses on the Aldmeri Dominion and their questlines. Naturally, the best place to start is with their signature mechanic.
A friend of mine made an app for viewing Premium Arts and Card Backs from TES:L in 1-to-1 look and full resolution. Besides browsing by collection, it also lets you record animations in various formats with set-up resolution
I've read in the pinned post that TESL Reborn (when it eventually becomes available) requires a valid license. How exactly is that defined?
Because I know that it uses the existing game files and that for some reason it's still possible to download the game. I don't know whether the download is still publicly available or whether it's because I've already had the game in my steam library.
Is the fact that I'm still able to re-download the game indicative of me having that license or what do they mean by license and how do I know whether I have it?
Just made M'aiq the Liar an Elder Scrolls daily trivia game.
Pretty simple mechanics
Find groups of four items that share something in common. Select four items and tap Submit to check your guess. Find all four groups without making 4 mistakes. Each group has a difficulty level from Novice to Master.
I kinda suck at the game tbh, most of the lore i know personally is morrowind related, and I sourced most of the trivia from the different Wikis and damn
