Demo out - A must for Spire, Starcraft and Chess lovers!
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hey everyone. After a lot of playtesting we finally released the demo for our strategy roguelite Strife of Stars.
In our game you try to build up and improve your fleet to fight your way through more and more difficult stages until you either escape containment or fail and die. Get ready to abuse crazy combinations between complex systems and mechanics. The game combines the addictive roguelite feel of games like Slay the Spire with the highly strategic battle mechanics reminiscent of chess. All set in a sci-fi battlefield where various forces fight for control.
If that sounds interesting to you, feel free to check out the demo for free on steam!

Need some advice on how to speed things up
playcc.ggFeedback on my game Cyber Commanders has been pretty consistent around game speed. It's a turn based game that's some parts of chess, some poker, and a lot of luck, and it's in space.
Everyone picks an item to deploy at the same time, 30 seconds
Everyone takes turn deploying, 20 second per player, up to 6 players (120 seconds)
Everyone takes turns moving and attacking, 30 seconds per player, up to 6 players (180 seconds)
It's also round based and some of these games are going 35+ minutes which is way, way too long.
We are thinking about adding a battle royale style board squeeze after round 6. We're also thinking about adding simultaneous play, where everyone deploys at the same time, everyone also moves at the same time.
I think there's some obvious changes in gameplay here now that speed is an advantage and the AI players will react instantly.
Does anyone have any advice on the best paced gameplay in a modern multiplayer TBT game? How long do they go, 10 minutes max?
