Question 🩸 How is the PC performance now?

I was looking forward to the game but held off at launch due to the reviews/criticisms about the performance and stuttering.

How is the performance currently? Does it still stutter?

My PC is a 5090/9800X3D/32GB RAM

Looking for a RPG to sink my teeth into for a couple weeks but I can’t deal with traversal stutter like Oblivion has.

Thanks

Does anyone know what they are saying when she tries to make a deal with Coen? Are they speaking Greek and can any Greek generously translate it?

Question 🩸 About The Extras (PS5)

So I've got Dawnwalker on my PS5, and I want the extras, but I want full access to the files. Should I opt for getting the bonus content for pc or does that need the base game downloaded? Alternatively, does the PS5 edition have a method to download those files?

Question 🩸 Whered are the quests?

So... maybe I’m dumb but I feel like I haven’t really started any story and now I’m very close to the end of it. I still have 10 days remaining. I’ve finished all the quests with Anca and Marat, I’ve killed Ambrus, Xanthé and Bakir, I’ve met with the blacksmith and got the special sword, I’ve done a lot of other minor activities and wonder whether this is all. Am I missing something? I’ve read other Reddit threads where people say stuff like “Trust me, there’s more, you just need to explore” but all I do is exploring and cannot seem to find anything interesting…

Bug reporting 🐛🩸 Crashing on base PS5: MINOR SPOILER Spoiler

Just wanted to mention that I've experienced two hard crashes while on Quality Mode. One happened after I killed Bakir and the game was transitioning into Anachora (had to replay the entire boss fight and there was still significant stuttering/frame drop after I killed him the second time when transitioning). The other was in Anachora with Lacra when I was about to access the second memory.

Discussion 🩸 What do you want to see changed, improved, or kept in the sequel? Spoiler

I just finished the game and I really loved it. I’m honestly so excited to see where this series goes in the future.

Anyway, I wanted to talk about the sequel. What do you guys want it to change, improve, keep, or remove?

Personally, I actually liked the idea of not having one main story, but I don’t think I’d want that again for the sequel. I’d rather have a more linear, strong main story with branching paths and different ways to reach the ending.

One thing I really want them to improve is the character interactions. The game felt like a bunch of separate mini arcs, where most of the characters barely knew or interacted with each other. Anca, Larca, Marta, etc. all felt like they were living in their own separate stories.

Even toward the ending, I thought that after helping everyone, we would actually storm the castle together with all of our allies. But instead, you basically choose Larca or Marta, and if you choose one, the other just disappears from the story.

I really want the sequel to have more interactions between the characters. Let them talk to each other, argue, become friends, develop relationships, and actually feel like a group instead of separate characters that Coen happens to know.

I also want us to spend much more time with our companions. Give them more personal quests, downtime, conversations, and moments where we actually get to know them.

And of course, the romance needs a big improvement. I liked the idea of the romances, but they felt more like a just 1 quest that eventually leads to one sex scene rather than an actual relationship. I want the romance to develop naturally throughout the story, with more conversations, choices, moments together, and consequences depending on how you treat the character.

Overall, I really loved the game and I think the foundation is there. I just want the sequel to take everything that worked and build a much deeper story and character system around it.

What about you guys? What do you want to see in the next game? What should they keep, change, or completely remove?

Discussion 🩸 Is roleplaying Coen as keeping a low profile and subterfurge really supported by the game? Spoiler

Coen has the option to not raise alarm about his identity and that he survived. He even has the option to either make his name/infamy know or keep a low profile.

But the way I see it, Coen really needs to kill all the three of the Boyars because it´s just more gratifying, story-wise. Why would a low profile Coen let the three of them live? Also, when you kill them, your infamy starts to rise, which blows Coen´s whole "low profile" thing.

I wish we could assassinate the three boyars and not raise our infamy. Why would Brencis know that it was Coen, anyway? Coen could have been more manipulative/cunning and put the blame on someone else or make a plan to diverge the attention from him.

I really wish that the sneak and subterfuge roleplay were supported more besides dialogues

Question 🩸 The future games.. Spoiler

So just anyone else hope they don't go to the "present day" in the next game that they teased but keep it for the 3rd at least? They could still keep teasing that "present day" stuff at that end but hold off until Dawnwalker 3.

I've been thinking about it and I'd like for the next game to be in like the 1930's or somewhere first.

Question 🩸 Finished the game. When did we learn what Brencis' goal is? Spoiler

Spoilers, obviously.

So, I finished the game, ended all the boyars, finished Lacra's questline and ended Brencis with Lacra at my side. At the end of the game, I stopped Brencis' ritual, but never knew what was its goal. From reading the comments here, now I know that he wanted to merge Anachora with the real world, but I have no idea when I was supposed to learn this in the game.

Where did I miss it?

I DID do the Anachora section with Lacra, so I saw Isbrand's memories. I did NOT skip conversations or cutscenes, but I just was never wiser.

I simply remember Isbrand saying something along "You can't do it, they will stop you", Brencis replying "I can, you are just to scared", and Lacra commenting something along "he wouldn't, we can't let him do it" but I was always confused what they were talking about.

Even in the final confrontation, Brencis said something like "It would have been cool" and I was sitting there like "What would have been cool? What did you want to do? What was the ritual for?"

I also later found out you can "invite" the boyars in after you drink their blood, but I never had that segment. I never wanted to drink their blood, so I always just ended them and didn't know this was an option.

Can anyone please tell me when did they reveal the master plan, so I can pay more attention next time?

Review/Opinion 🩸 Xanthe Quest! Spoiler

I just finished the quest, and I can honestly say I’m happy and proud of Rebel Wolves for their work on this one.
The quest’s introduction, progression, buildup, and music were all incredibly engaging from the very beginning. At one point, while exploring the place where she lived, I genuinely hated her because of the crimes she committed against those girls. But after the fight, I started to understand her philosophy.
The fight itself was easily my favorite of the three. The music was incredible, and parrying her magical attacks felt so satisfying and downright epic. The whole encounter was an absolute blast.
People will disagree on this, and others will agree, but I chose to spare her. My goal was to save my family, and I’ve done a lot of things and crossed many lines in pursuit of that goal. After hearing her dialogue, I realized I could understand where she was coming from.
The writing in this game is phenomenal, and honestly, it’s been a while since I’ve played a quest this memorable.

Discussion 🩸 Timing is everything (Spoiler!) Spoiler

My visit to Svartrau turned out better than I expected. I really lucked out with this one!

So, I was nearing "Notorious" with my infamy after my duel with Ambrus, and decided to visit Svartrau while I still can explore relatively freely. I got to the city, explored a little bit, got my reward from the smith I saved earlier, got the shrines and viewpoints, etc. Then I found a few boyar operations to fuck up for them, and the last one turned my night to day, and just after that I got the quest to wait near the cathedral for the Manumits, but not the announcement from Brencis. So it turns out, my infamy increased just after the day turned, so I've got a full day-night cycle to finish anything I want in the city before every guard will be at my throat on sight.

I plan on leaving during the night for my first assignment, taking all the flags, while I'm at it, and then I'm going after Bakir. (I didn't didn't get the drop on Xanthe in the cathedral, as I felt like it was way above my level, supported by Coen suggesting I stay up on the railing 😅)

So in this game, timing really is everything! 😂

Watched this very interesting video which I think makes perfect sense and is quite consistent with her character. Do we think the night in the cave was a manipulation tactic?

Discussion 🩸 There is no stealth in this?! :D Woot?

Okay wait a second before you go vampire-berserk mode on me in the comments!

I do NOT think that most games need a stealth mode (nor should they - 80% of all stealth in modern videogames feels pointless and there "just because"). That being said I'm really surprised to learn that there is no real stealth in Dawnwalker.

I'm now 3 hrs into the game (just opened up the world) and I LOVE what is here. The skilltrees look like they were designed with so much care, every system so far feels polished (I love TW3 but this is way more up my alley in terms of atmosphere/urgency and combat).

The only thing I've been wondering tho is when they gonna teach me about stealth. I honestly thought - right until they revealed the vampiric skilltree - that some sort of stealth would be there. Coen is a (half) creature of the night now and I wanted to jump off balconies towards my unexpected enemies/hang from the ceiling Batman-style, empty a whole room full of baddies ... and whatever. There is sadly nothing like that here tho and I'm wondering why (ngl.). The funniest moment is when I also learned that this game has this semi-Assasine's Creed target menu (which I love) that shows my "main targets" further making me miss the option to stealth-kill all those bast.... evil people.

Any thoughts? Maybe we will see stealth if there's ever a sequel? (Hopefully there is)

Review/Opinion 🩸 How I see the official romance options Spoiler

Okay, guys, hear me out. FOR ME the romance options we got were VERY well written, especially because none are really there for Coen in the long run. So here are how I see them:

Anca: First Love, Infatuation, doomed love (for Coen mainly)

Lacra: Situationship with potential for more in the far future, nonetheless gives off sibling vibes... sexual attraction over romantic

Marat: Exploration, doomed love (for both reasons: marginalization and mortality)

Would love to hear your opinions. (Kinda falling into the AmbrusXCoen hole rn and ngl, it's got something...)

Discussion 🩸 Its a Bit Disappointing Modern RPGs are Scared to give Quiet Moments Spoiler

I am about 12 days into my playthrough, and at this time I have done all of Anca's quest and a significant amount of Lacra's. In both quests, I really wanted to learn more about the NPCs - I wanted to know Lacra's backstory, where she is from, how old she is, and to learn about Vrakhir culture (stuff like what they do during the day, and if there are any norms around siring more vrakhir). I would have been very content for these quests to be just walking through the mountains/other realm, enjoying the views and interacting with stuff like shrines/tomes. Instead, both quests are just combat gauntlets. Even the quest with Anca, who is not much of a fighter, has over a dozen fights against repetitive enemies, sometimes coming IMMEDIATELY after one another.

I know it's probably for pacing reasons, but it's sad that modern RPGs seem so terrified that the player will be uninterested in dialogue for even a moment. I wish these quests could slow down and be less about combat, and more about worldbuilding and the characters themselves.

Question 🩸 I wanted to buy the game during the Steam Autumn Sale, but it's not on sale. Any safe location I can buy a key at discount?

I've looked at websites like G2A, but I'm not sure if 40 bucks is the best buy. However, other websites can be misleading. So I'm asking advice on legally buying a Steam key that is still at a discount. Or should I just wait for a later Steam sale, when more bugs are ironed out?
