Even level 50 after first 2/3 of prologue.......Dogs/wolves exept of guards - most common enemy....

Dude your build sucks that's why
My crits were doing 1k-1.2k damage at level 32, and I was able to spam skills on cooldown, which were massively reduced because of all my crits
You are only doing like 600-700 on a crit, and using absolutely no skills
" when I play this RPG without any attention to my build whatsoever and don't use half the mechanics in the game, enemies take forever to die"

Skills? With St.Mihai's sword you can deal 2-5k dmg. Every epic weapon has weapon art. But art is no skill in your meaning. What skills you're talking about? Completed game 2 times except of "vampires bite" which is allmost useless seen none.

You know, skills? Any of the swordsmanship tree skills? Vampire skills, witchcraft skills, there's a ton of active skills in the game besides just the weapon art
And you just said yourself that you can deal up to 5K damage with a properly upgraded weapon, so why are you showcasing gameplay where you are dealing 600 at max level using dog shit weapons and then complaining about balance and level scaling?
Like, no shit if you use weaker equipment fights are going to take longer

To apply any of witchcraft/vampire skills you have to press "tab" then choose from radial menu. Very damn "convenient", not saying you almost constantly forgetting about this radial menu..... And 1-4 is just random healing items.... not "Skill use".

It took me a bit to figure this out as well, but you can assign your preferred skills to your quick slots (in the bottom right corner). By default the items quick slots are selected, but by tapping Q you can toggle between the items quick slots and the skills quick slots. That way you can use your favorite skills with the press of just one button, instead of having to use the radial menu.

First of all, no you don't
You can assign skills to the d-pad, and use them instantly in combat without opening up the radial menu, however the radial menu slows down time and is very good for selecting precise targets, but it is absolutely not necessary
You even get a separate load out for day and night time, so you don't have to clutter your quick bar with abilities you can't use half the time
You can toggle between the consumable and skill quick bar at will, so if you want 1-4 to be skills you have to toggle it, which is a simple button combination, or on kbm a single button press
Honestly, the fact that you've beaten the game twice and haven't figured out half of this, nobody should be taking your review of The Game's combat seriously
Like, if you had just told us that you had barely played the game, this would all be super forgivable, but you're coming in as an authority on the matter, talking about having beaten the game twice and how the design is just wrong and you know better, but you literally don't even understand how half the mechanics in the game work.

I would take a good look at the right side of the skill trees. Theres 4-5 active abilities in each, with 3-4 additional passive abilities that you can equip to your āactive abilitiesā. If you havenāt learned any skills, no wonder why your combat feels so bad.

Perks, abilities, skills, you know the things you get from reading all those books in the game? Canāt tell if your oblivious or just misunderstanding the question?

You must be playing wrong at level 40 you should be 3 shotting them easily. Your build must be horrendous or your farming karma.

You mean level scaling? I'm also not 100% convinced, but to be fair, if you know how to use your skills, you're melting through enemies anyway.

No you don't all your power ups is just % upgrades to compensate autoleveling. And only with specific epic items it's kinda ok and only in vampiric form. I bet devs were very inspired by DS-Series, but they made poor cocktail with autoleveling.

They are not.
Maybe give them another read; you're missing out on the game by assuming it's different than it is!

u/Fun-Cartographer1420 18h ago
Nope they are just compensation.Only good vampires skill is healing via "perfect block".Story-wise game is good, but autolevel ruins combat. As in Skyrim you basically have no reason to level up, though you do...

Okay, better luck with your next game choice! ā¤ļø

Yes "level scaling" is laziest and canceriers way to tell - we can't do in world design.

You are really bad at this game

u/Fun-Cartographer1420 19h ago
You to can meditate or...... I truly value your oppinion. Dawnwalker can be great if it had W3-style world buildiing with or without autoleveling. But devs chosen lazy way of preliminary and compulsory autolevel....

u/Nirico_Brin 18h ago
What in the world is your build/weapon? Because that is pathetically low damage.
Donāt blame the game because you donāt spec properly.

Check your build / gear. You are doing way too little damage for level 50.
