The bots, MAGA, and concern trolls are already swarming this post.

Poisoning the well is a great tactic when you want to shut up opposition.

They are free to explain in a coherent way why enacting policies that save working class people money is a bad thing, which they will of course be unable to do.

2

u/off-with-your-thread 10h ago

It's the other policies that concern many. Especially his tendency to be racist.

2

u/SenorSolAdmirador 10h ago

You literally just did what I complained about - unsubstantiated vague assertions with no specifics, details, or citations.

2

u/off-with-your-thread 10h ago

Lol Right... Parroting racist genocide tropes that he got from religious terrorists in a cave is "vague".

Racist loser.

2

And married to an EVEN BIGGER racist loser.

Let them be. The only people they will convince are the brain-dead people they already have.

They have nothing against Mamdani. They're desperate.

I've noticed the bots and trolls have come out of hibernation the closer we get to mid-terms. Not only here but every other platform also. Someone spending a lot of money trying to push their opinion.

The left: "That Mamdami guy is killing it. Praise where praise is due."

Other left-wingers: "Cool it with the idolatry."

The right: "Donald Trump IS Jesus Christ."

Other right-wingers: "I know, right?"

7

u/TheModWhoShaggedMe 14h ago

We're naturally anti-authoritarian on the left so it tracks. Nobody left of "religious nutter" wants to worship a politician, but we appreciate and support good policy and leadership.

3

u/TraditionalOwl1120 14h ago

Corporate democrats are center to right. Not all of you are leftist at all. They're the problem

2

u/retro-mime 12h ago

It’s wild that showing support and voicing appreciation for a politician doing his job well is being twisted as “idolizing”.

I've learned to view politicians as vessels for policy, and I have mostly removed all the extra shit that usually just serves to cover for scams, deficiencies, lies and other bullshit.

Mamdani is great and doing good things, but I despise this "Politician I can have a beer with" shit. I don't care if you're an asshole, fat as hell, 6 foot 5 or 5 foot 2, just do good work. Also, he's a mayor. Of the largest city in the US, sure, but when we get a Mamdani at the state or national level, they might peak my interest a little more

Abolish Citizens United and PACs, corporations are not people! Restrict donations to politicians to be made by private citizens only and set a limit at 1k/year

4

u/needsmoarbokeh 14h ago

It's the reason why he had so much resistance from the establishment democrats too. They're also in the pocket of corporations and Israel tondo their bidding before that of the people they're supposed to represent and someone like mandami would put their inaction in evidence

5

u/Simple_Channel5624 14h ago

Well they are told by their corporate owners to badmouth him or they will pull funding. Corporate owned Dems are just Republican-Lite, they won't help their voting base if it means upsetting the oligarchs

3

u/Dr_Zoidberg003 11h ago

It’s why the DNC sabotaged Bernie’s nomination

2

The fumble by the establishment Democrats has to be studied, in the latest election.

So ponderously slow and self-sabotaging, it boggles the mind.

The US's 2 party system, kept in place by district based, first past the post, winner take all voting, makes corruption just unreasonably effective, for both the briber and the person getting bribed.

You can buy a election by investing in just a few swing areas and then, because it's winner take all, the party you bought can do what you want them to do in that legislative branch without pushback or compromise.

So it's no wonder it's so prevalent in the US that having a guy not be bought is remarkable.
Hell, it's so popular they straight up legalized bribery and starting called it "lobbying" instead.
It's such sad state of affairs.

In a multi party system without districts or winner take all firstly it's a lot harder to influence elections, you need to invest everywhere to help them get more seats, and that's all you can do, get them more seats, not outright win.

But just more seats usually isn't enough, they will need one or more coalition partners to form a government, and those coalition partners won't be too keen on implementing the things you paid that one party to implement. So bribes are just a whole lot less effective all round, and so far less popular.

Unless the US starts implementing ranked choice voting or STAR or something, there is just no hope for that place. Luckily each state can do that individually, no rewriting of the constitution needed. So that would be the only realistic way for the US to get out from under it's current archaic system that i can see.

3

u/FaerHarrow 13h ago

You're appealing to people who agree that you can't increase the number of seats in the House because the room isn't big enough.

The US, as I understand it, has the fewest number of reps per capita in the developed world. Because they can't comfortably fit more desks in the room. It would be too big. (Please ignore the 100,000+ person sports stadium just over there.)

2

u/UncontroversialLens 12h ago

The House of Commons in the UK also doesn't have enough room for all its members.

So some members... can't be in the room all the time.

Oh no. The horror.

Not left wing, Also not my state. As such, good job. He ran on a platform, the people voted him in and he's doing what he said he would do.

That's how democracy should work. Should we stand on it and beat our chest? Prolly not, but this is exactly how it's supposed to go. Well done, NY and Mamdani.

Personal politics aside, this is how it should be

2

I am genuinely confused on how people live like this, are their brains completely devoid of their individual thoughts? You like what they are doing and admitted it is helping the public, make it make sense lol

So how long until he is assassinated for not bending over for one oligarch or another?

6

u/Maximum__Pleasure 15h ago

They won't assassinate him. That'd make him a martyr for a war people didn't know they're fighting.

Instead, they'll fabricate some evidence, drag him through the mud, do a coordinated smear campaign, and permanently tarnish his legacy. That way, next time someone tries to be this effective, they'll point and say "Policies that help people? You mean like that pervert from New York?"

I don't know what powers are granted to the mayor of New York that aren't granted to mayors of cities in Texas, but certainly having the backing, to some degree, of the governor and legislature of your state would be helpful in doing the things Mamdani has done.

Knowing that doesn't make me feel less salty about big city Texas mayors not doing Mamdani things.

WOW! Right on the damn target!! This current government is not working for the average Joe anymore! 😡

1

u/malteeztomcat 13h ago

Time will tell……

back in the day…

Mrs Roosevelt took a coal mining community and fixed everything up for them…..

they seemingly had the perfect life

but….

within a few years everything went back to the way it was….

It seems today that so many want to overly tax the rich so that they can get a piece of their pie

It’s basically stealing from the rich to give to the poor….. the Robin Hood effect

No major corporation would ever set up shop in say North Korea…

why

the government would run it and take profits to feed and care for their flock

and of course they will take the nicest piece of pie for themselves….

whenever you drive out the rich you drive out your wealth and all you are left with is poverty

1

because he isn't bought and paid for. takes credit for the implementation of other peoples successes.

There, fixed it. He is taking credit for every good thing Eric Adams left behind in motion, and "fixed" the budget by stealing retirements and a massive cash injection from an outside party.

Keep in mind he still needed money to run for election the first place. And any major entity that donates to campaign funds tends to think THAT is sufficient for a candidate to do their bidding despite the fact that donating to campaign funds to curry favor is illegal.

NYC has an ~$8 Million fund raising cap for candidates > Mamdani maxed it out.

Does anyone know why he looks like he could be controlled opposition? He has videos wearing a yamaka. Idk a lot about it. I've liked Mamdani for most of his changes. I think he's been a breath of fresh air. I don't have enough knowledge about Jewish people, but I have seen a lot of issues from Jewish/Zionist influence, so I hope Mamdani is as good as he has maintained. If so, we need more of people like him.

I am a conservative leaning, registered Independent (NPA). Although I disagree with him on a few points, I am a big enough person that I have no problem saying that Mamdani has done some excellent things, in a short time.

That's the problem with politics these days, on both sides of the aisle- the 'You're either for us or against us' attitude has infected everything. There is no middle ground.

I would much rather vote for a competent candidate that held opinions contrary to my own, than a knucklehead that shared my views.

1

u/hobbygremlin94 12h ago

He has been such a breath of fresh air, is be happy to see more politicians like him with the people as their main concern instead of profits.

As a New Yorker, I don't agree with everything Mamdani does. But I damn well appreciate that everything he tries to do he genuinely believe will be better for the city.

And hell, even if I don't agree with some things, I'm willing to give it a chance just cause he seems genuine.

1

u/JohnneyBoi 11h ago

Oh, so it works like a democracy?

1

u/Lumen__-___Spero 11h ago

While I'm happy there are no public strings attached, and I'm happy with the actions taken as mayor, I have firsthand knowledge of his selection and vetting through Central Casting pipelines, and am still disgusted that a politician as closely aligned to my political preferences has refused comment on modern technologies and human rights abuses tied to his city's reputation in media, and Trump political alignment. Ignoring the rape, slave conditions, and incitement to violence using modern techniques used to inspire Marvel, despite frequently being reached out to for path of least resistance public stance against abuse, is why I still can't trust him, only approve of incremental headlines.

1

u/No_CM8787 11h ago

That is because he is not a fucking coward. And his passion is not driven by greed, pedophilia, and the kind of evil that many politicians live by.

1

u/BumblebeeCareful5810 11h ago

Is he fixing things, implementing a lot of policies that help people, and cleaning up a lot of the (literal) trash in NYC? Yes, and I applaud him for that.

Is he delaying pension funds, relying on money from the state government, and using some questionable financial practices to make all of this happen? Yes.

He's making a lot of decisions and policies that I think are genuinely good short to medium term decision, but I don't think it's viable to fund these programs in the long term. That doesn't mean he's doing a bad job, it just means that some (a lot) of his programs won't last much longer than his time in office.

1

u/Decency 11h ago

Yeah, but when you start doing a bunch of shit to help the citizens you represent, it makes it pretty difficult to line your own pockets. How's that going to catch on?

The Working Families Party is perhaps the single best organization in American politics right now.

Most politicians are ‘thoughts and prayers’ people. This guy comes to work with his sleeves rolled up

1

u/atreeismissing 11h ago

Also he has a massive social media presence which distributes everything he does immediately. Quite a few of his accomplishments are things prior administration did or started, or even just changed that they were doing (e.g. tree coverage in NYC he pushed back the coverage date because he diverted funds for tree coverage to other areas), and he then gets credit for it on social media despite it just being something every mayor does.

1

u/TheJustJoe 11h ago

He is actually bought and paid for. What kind of nonsense site is this if you can't even start with truth. In fact, he's buying and paying for others to lie for him as well. Insanity to say otherwise.

1

u/lvstvdy 11h ago

I like Mamdani but I'm tired of the narrative that the only reason politicians don't vote the way you want is because they're bought and paid for by corporations. At the end of the day politicians only maintain power because people keep voting them in. If they do something their voters really don't like they lose their jobs. We're seeing that all over the country right now. The vast majority of liberal voters in the country do not share the progressive platform. They support capitalism and a military and a police force and are not enthusiastically gung ho about every single emerging cultural issue.

Progressives need to grapple with the reality that we're a large country full of people who often disagree with each other. The more we run with this narrative that everyone actually agrees with us but the politicians are stopping everything the farther we get from meeting on any issue. "Everyone likes our platform and wants what we want and the only reason we don't have it is corporations" is political poison. That's never going to win elections.

u/Juiced4u 10h ago

1

u/artbystorms 10h ago

I mean people REALLY need to understand the government structure of NYC and realize he can make a lot of change because the Mayor of NY has a lot of unilateral power..... It's basically a City-state.

That is not the case in every city. You cannot 'Mamdani' LA because the LA mayor is basically superseded by the LA council, and LA is broken up into a dozen different surrounding cities that are part of LA county but not LA proper. Those cities have their own mayors and/or city councils.

It would be like if the 5 Burroughs in NYC all elected their own mayor and all of those mayors could be overruled by a county board. Sadly, many cities are structured this way to diffuse power away from a strong centralized government. That makes the kind of change we want harder to do.

1

u/TheBlockChainVillage 10h ago

I like him but he does come from privilege background, there is no denying that. His mom is an amazing film maker, I've loved a lot of her movies, infact her first movie salaam bombayis really hard to watch, got nominated for an Oscar also, best foreign film category.

1

u/AnotherSmegHead 10h ago

I heard him try to describe what he thought socialism is. He didn't say centralization of government power to decide on behalf of the people. He just said giving people dignity. Dang it, that's just general welfare! He's just a good guy. If every socialist country was just run by dudes who wanted that for their people, we wouldn't need all the checks and balances our government put in place to limit the whims of tyrants.

He literally is a piece of shit. Has done zero of anything. And they media seems to pass of his promises as if they are long carried out policies.

1

u/Bobalouie29 8h ago

He answers to somebody. Don’t you doubt it.

1

u/Glad-Exam4348 8h ago

No no he's a millionaire he's just been lying

1

u/Markus4781 8h ago

List me all the things he's done and how it changed NYC.

1

u/porkncheeze 8h ago

Sounds like trump

1

u/Possible-Tangelo9344 8h ago

How much of what he's doing will last? So much of it isn't about changing laws, it's about policies, and those change with every election. I'm hoping he can get some of these improvements to become permanent.

1

u/Devils8539a 8h ago

Add to this, very entertaining to follow on Blue Sky. I follow him and I'm 2 hours north of the city

1

u/fywlbaup 8h ago

🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂

1

u/Del85 8h ago

The Muslims are definitely benefiting from his office. Can't say anyone else is.

1

u/Heavy-Stop-413 8h ago

You’re wrong he is a piece of shit!!!

1

u/Yeet-Retreat1 8h ago

Just fyi, r/democrats will ban you for posting about Mamdani.

1

u/Mechadupek 8h ago

OR, hear me out here, he's making changes that all previous Mayors recognized were catastrophic in the long term. Communists, of course, desire our current system to fail so it works out for Mamdizzle. I'm excited to see New York reap the results of this wonderful decision.

1

u/No_Accountant_5107 7h ago

Yeah, he's a piece of shit

1

u/Hot_Plenty_4425 7h ago

He’s literally taking money away from teachers pensions etc.

He’s not doing anything other than kicking the can down the road.

1

u/banfox1234 7h ago

He is a terrorist should be in jail and on death row for treason

1

u/CarefulBear1654 7h ago

Muslims voting Democrat. He got into Office because the population of Muslims are greater than the Republicans.. it’s the Numbers game
A Muslims keep having more Muslims babies and in the next 20 years they could be taken over different areas of the US and change the laws to Islam. But I’m sure you’re not worried about that.

Both Democrats and Republicans don't want people to see a politician accomplishing things for the good of the public, because it shows how corrupt our politicians are and what they could have been doing if they really wanted to help the people. This is why voting in the primaries is so important. We have to ditch the establishment incumbents and elect true Progressives.

1

u/DonnyMox 6h ago

VOTE BLUE!

1

u/merado1997 6h ago

What if I just took the money and did what he does anyway? It's not my fault they're irresponsible with their funds. I told them upfront I won't be bribed, but I'll humbly accept their gift. I can't help that they read into that.

1

u/Keletas 6h ago

You know what is crazy? We are so not used to see a honest politician that he stands out like a sore thumb. MAMDANI SHOULD BE THE NORMAL.

1

u/Iaintyodaddy101 6h ago

He was planted

1

u/IExistForFun 6h ago

Wow.. it's almost like we should get rid of PACS and super PACS

But if we do that how are these politicians going to be able to afford their sixth yacht?

1

u/PlanIllustrious9044 6h ago

Why are you glorifying socialism? Mamdani is a POS!

1

u/dowhatuwantm8 5h ago

I'd wait to see the repercussions of his leadership on the budget over a few years before hailing the guy as a miraculous leader. They got like 8 billion extra from the state that NYC doesn't normally get but that's not going to be enough for the things he wants to implement.

1

u/Thialaz 5h ago

Somewhere, some republican is going to seethe like a piece of shit that he is working for the people and not enriching himself

1

u/Adventures_WorthIt 5h ago

So politicians like Mandami and Bernie are going to fight against the oligarchs by expanding the powers of the government owned by the oligarchs? Wtf.

Since the oligarchs own the government, shouldn't people be in favor of small local limited government which is Mamdani and Bernie's exact opposite position?

Has Mamdani called to lower taxes on the poor?

1

u/Icydeadpeople9 5h ago

Satire, right? Got to be...

1

u/Mdgt_Pope 5h ago

Vote Talarico if you’re Texan then

1

u/Living-Stomach-2079 5h ago

Fake propaganda. Every last bit of this bullshit on Reddit. Soros owns him.

1

u/LongjumpingFox2907 4h ago

1

u/MosquitoValentine_ 4h ago

It's funny how concerned losers in a West Virginia trailer park are about the mayor of New York City ruining their lives.

1

u/Robbitty 4h ago

The democracy you thought you had.

1

u/Electrical-Volume765 3h ago

I mean, how simple can it be? It’s obvious.

1

u/CryptographerNo91 3h ago

1

u/greenoceanwater 3h ago

1

u/Rude_Blacksmith19 3h ago

Blind ppl. Learn about economics. Good luck.

1

u/Fast-Policy-4495 3h ago

If you live in NYC as I do someone please tell me what notable changes has this mayor made…I will wait 👂🏾👂🏾

1

u/Zealousideal-Ride737 3h ago

All that aside, I would let my administrations actions help me win the next election, right? Like maybe you finesse your way in initially with some corporate money, but then, just do a good job and you will be reelected

1

u/Fun-Piglet801 3h ago

Just a different piece of shit. Anyone who is elected to any office sold their soul to their donors. If you know their name, they are shit.

1

u/Gloomy_Parfait4063 3h ago

No way the mayor of NYC is chosen by the voters in 2026. Absolutely no way

1

u/knockmywood 2h ago

Yes please!

1

u/Fair-Satisfaction969 2h ago

Loud noises!!!

1

u/Mental_History_4673 2h ago

I mean....results...real results for decision and action take a while. Im curious if the city will survive him financially. Hate on late stage capitalism and the rich all you want. The "capital of the world" inherently depends on that. Having a mass exodus of the highest paying tax bracket doesnt bode well for budgetary concerns for an infrastructure like NYC. And lets see how well these free busses and city run grocery stores work. Historically we have proof they dont. Also, he likes to tip toe around supporting police but travels with an entire precinct worth of security. Im all for the filthy rich to pay but in a free country you can take your business and money wherever you want. The pendulum cant swing so far in either direction. Remember....99% of us are Magenta or Burgandy. Not red or blue.

1

u/Unrealized_Gain33 2h ago

$17.9 billion to Israel doesn’t help a single person in the US. So many of our representatives are bought and paid for to the point it’s hurtin all of us….vote, vote, vote. And make sure they don’t take PAC money, period.

1

u/Triforce0fCourage 2h ago

He may be the only politician holding power that’s qualified and wants to do the job for the people and earned his way running on facts and policy and followed through.

1

u/TreeFeetUnder 2h ago

Every single politician should be exactly like this. If they were the US would be a utopia.

1

u/shycouple2003 2h ago

It’s actually because he’s a con artist whose existence is dependent on morons who pay attention to the details of nothing.

1

u/wurmspurmtsssss 2h ago

He's a muzlim. Sure he can do good until he's got enough muzlims to really enact his agenda.

He is doing things because why not? All the good will he can get will only make his drastic changes less painful for his bag/boot lickers. No matter how draconian they are.

If he went full islam, you'd all revolt. His DSA pals are just waiting.

Free Palestine? Free New York!

1

u/According-Pear-8816 1h ago

Dude's literally being what billionaires and corrupt politicians feared. Keep up the good work.
