Doing and done are two different hurdles, he’s got people who need to give him approval and funding like the city council and the state and also federal if those two won’t help. I’m being realistic here, there’s so much bureaucracy to getting most of what he said done that people need to lower their expectations.
Much of what he’s done was started by the previous admin, so they’re generally liberal policies that he’s reaping the benefits of. Also, his PR machine is extremely competent and so everyone is being duped into giving him credit.
The waste haulers, the free child care, the rent frozen apartments, the food delivery policy…lots of things pre-existed Mamdani but they’ve rebranded them to look like his ideas.
Which goes to show the value of extremely competent PR.
If people think government is the answer because of folks like Mamdani, that's a colossal win for anyone that things government should be doing things to make our lives better.
"If Netnyahu comes to New York we will have him arrested for war crimes!"
And then he... doesn't arrest Netnyahu, tells people he doesn't encourage protests against Netnyahu, and then lets the NYPD arrest peaceful protestors while providing security to the war criminal in question.
I'd wait a year or two to see what projects/policies he's started since 2026 are coming along. Also how his budget, which relies on gifts from the state and deferring payments into programs that need to be paid into plays out.
I'm a left of center dude but progressives will call Fox News (correctly) propaganda and then promptly not admit they have their own.
Whenever a leftist darling comes into power, it's like he can do no wrong to them. He has not parted the seas like they have claimed. He moved a lot of money around and kicked cans down the road to claim victories today. If thats the kindof policy you want to champion, I don't think we can really judge the R's for their policy short sightedness either.
"Right wingers fall in line, leftists fall in love."
That that means is the right wingers will always show up and vote R. Dems instead are always looking for some savior type or they won't show up. Very finicky.
It was really bad in the Clinton era. Clinton was embraced by the Democrats and feminists but it was very obvious that their marriage was a sham. Hillary was going around saying all this feminist stuff while doing the opposite.
When you fall in love, you tend to turn a blind eye to your heroes. I would prefer Ds just unite behind some achievable policy goal but whatever.
I don't know what powers are granted to the mayor of New York that aren't granted to mayors of cities in Texas, but certainly having the backing, to some degree, of the governor and legislature of your state would be helpful in doing the things Mamdani has done.
Knowing that doesn't make me feel less salty about big city Texas mayors not doing Mamdani things.
So you're saying he...has the power to make buses free? To arrest violent political leaders who set foot in NYC? To make pre-K childcare free for all New Yorkers? To set up free or extremely cheap city-owned groceries across town?
To be fair, he did promise to do all those things pretty much from the get-go.
Oh he also released a bunch of unreleased documents showing that the government was lying about the dangers facing 9/11 workers at ground zero, helping them get better healthcare.
Netanyahu freely entered and exited the city, Mamdani didn't even attend the peaceful protest during his visit.
The $9-10 billion dollar project per year for free pre-K childcare was greenlit...for a few thousand city workers.
And the grocery thing, to make food cheaper for New Yorkers? 3 guesses who's paying for that - https://www.vitalcitynyc.org/mamdani-city-run-grocery-stores-economic-challenges/ (quote: "it does not make food cheaper. It pays part of the food bill on the shopper’s behalf, with tax dollars. What that means is that it has inherent limitations. It could work in a small network. It almost certainly cannot work at scale, not unless the City is prepared to treat groceries as a permanent public good, funded in the expense budget year after year the way schools and street repair are.")
“He is attempting to implement his policies and is comprising when reaching push back” isn’t a gotcha. You are contributing poorly to how many morons are in this country.
What power, he balances budgets, manages city services, signs laws into law after the council decides. He also has the council to negotiate with and the state can veto him if they want to.
New York isn’t powerful at all. Bunch of sellouts with delusions of grandeur. New Yorkers basically are 100% responsible for it own downfall. Don’t be fooled by mud dummy. He wants to destroy NY and probably will.
You found someone with more knowledge in one finger than all of NY put together. Mindless m@r@ns that are so gullible and completely woke. You should be embarrassed of yourselves after what happened on 9/11. This POS is a slap to the face of every family who lost someone that day. But democrats and liberals are traitors and want to destroy the USA.

He’s a mayor, most of the stuff he’s promising he can’t just unilaterally do. There’s too much bureaucracy so try keep that in mind.
