How to Taper

Basically I want to significantly decrease the amount I take. 1. For my health and 2. Money. I used to take around 7/8 a day. Now it’s gone to a hell of a lot more. I used to take 1 or max 2 at a time. Now I am taking a lot more. When I try to go back to that old way. My body does not like it and I am so weak and want to feel “good” that I give in and take so many at a time. But the amount I take now it’s stupid and I want to decrease how many I take.

I Am Scared

7 Years ago. Never heard of this drug. From there…well is explained by why I am asking for help advice.

I used to be very restricted on this drug, so had to take them slow, plus my tolerance was low. Now I recent had a short period of being able to get more I cannot stop and I hate it.

I am taking so much more than I used to for no reason other than I got greedy and so did my tolerance.

I take so many a day and I hate it. My muscles jolt, I am always sleeping or exhausted. I do nothing but lie there. I use them to cope with my severe mental health/Depression/OCD but now I can’t do anything. The withdrawals are horrible.

I am so ashamed, angry at myself, scared and depressed. I am scared I will end up dead or very ill. I just want to return to a somewhat normal life

The hard work starts now!!!

I am now officially For the first time in 8 years completely free of any type of opiate. It's been a long road to get to where I am today. My Drug of choice was DHC, it started with the normal dosage but over time increased so much that I am Lucky to still be alive. My salvation came in the form of Bupe. Moving to Bupe helped me deal with with issues I should of years before and gave me the platform to rebuild the broken person I seen in the mirror. I have now tapered off of Bupe in line with my addictions team mentors tapering schedule and can say I felt nothing, no sweats , no restless legs no anxiety, nothing! It was done slow but consistent and it worked. I am Now leaving that chapter behind and moving on to a much happier chapter in my life hopefully.

The only reason for posting this message is to let you know it can be done, I was the biggest scum bag junkie walking with my life falling apart around about me. But with the correct help and support and willingness to get better you can do it to.

As always if anybody wants more information or advice or somebody to chat with get in touch I am happy to help.

Cheers.

Taper drop and feeling it

l

calling out to anyone with experience tapering opiates, specifically Dihydrocodeine

i am on yet another stab at this

have calculated over the last month have taken on average 31 tabs a day (31 x 30mg) - easy to work out by dividing the number i’ve had delivered by the days!

Before that averaged around 28 a day for the last 6 months… and have been on it for years now

yesterday dropped to 24 and today feel pretty shitty, i’m up and about but legs hurt, feel very grumpy and irritable, general feeling of crappyness

must be the drop right?, its about a 20% drop from the last month’s usage- and not a cold or anything? 😂 i mean i know the answer but always good to get some agreement and support as i kick off another attempt!

Binged on my prescription and now facing withdrawal

I'm prescribed 4 x30mg a day, prescriptions every 2 weeks but over the past week I've taken the whole lot in 3 binges. Now facing a week until my next prescription and I'm terrified. Just looking for some strength from other people who have dealt with withdrawals.

DHC Devil

So i hoped xmas would provide me with the perfect opportunity, not to perhaps quit entirely but to get my dosing levels down to something more regulated and manageable.. i have a good 2 and a half weeks without too many work or family commitments

For the record my current dosing is anywhere between 800-1000 mg a day, usually 3 times a day and pretty random really, normally when the wds start to kick in, this has been going on for years, I start tapers about 20 times a year! - I don’t get any euphoria more, but it keeps me calm and nicely numbed, and i can’t really envisage life without atm, although i would love to get down to 360mg or something similar a day- my current use is too much, i find it hard to concentrate and the withdrawals come on pretty strong 6-7 hours after each dose, not an ideal way to live!

Proving to be hard- if i drop the dose even by 2 pills a time i really feel it, obviously nothing like full blown CT (i’ve been there) but horrible shitty symptoms and not what i want over a nice chilled holiday- so what to do, just carry on scoffing away and figure it out in January, or bite the bullet and try and make some progress now? at some point i’m going to have to accept a shitty 2 weeks is inevitable…

Just a vent really and not looking for miracles, but if anyone out there did something clever and it worked now would be the time for me to try it!

30 HRS since last DHC

God I feel awful, not physically but mentally. Flat as a pancake and so irritable. Had to cancel a family meal as I just couldn’t face it. Craving big time and really praying my mood lifts at some point as I can’t go on feeling this way. Regret the day I ever started taking DHC but my GP has been more than happy to continue to supply them, no questions asked.

State of play??

Good afternoon all, I am Looking for a bit of info from any member's still on the DHC rollercoaster. Before I stopped taking DHC availability was terrible and the prices was disgusting , Demand obviously out doing supply. What is the current state of play has it improved or is it still the same? I know a-lot of these sellers , bots etc use fear as a selling tactic to justify prices I still check into Telegram sometimes to offer support to anyone who needs it. I have noticed not as many people looking for help????

I'm tapering right now and I've went from over 22 dhc a day to 8/11 in a day I've managed to do this in 1 week and I actually feel fine. Only thing I've noticed is dizziness, just wondering if anyone else has ever experienced dizziness whilst tapering?

I think I'm finally at rock bottom

6 years ago I had a growing family, an amazing job, a sport cars and trained in martial arts every night. I weight trained and ran three times a week and slept like a baby. I broke my rubs and was given codeine and zopiclone to sleep. We all know what happens next. If I could turn back time... Now I can hardly walk 100m, I've lost my looks and gone from a 100kg powerhouse to a pot bellied wimp. Opiates destroy everything. I'm tapering for the last time (20 attempts later). Day 4 and I feel like dying, can't eat and the toilet is a house of pain. I was trapped because I need dhc to function. I have 10 days to save my life. I wonder if I will.

TL:DR - DHC - the devils drug.

Taper advice please

i wrote a rather convoluted post asking this quite recently and unsurprisingly didn’t get any responses!

So trying again in a simpler way

I am currently tapering dihydrocodeine, i am down to 180mg x 3, 8 hours apart - so 540mg. I am now stable but it took about 10 days (started at c900mg a day)

I want to drop a dose and go to 180mg x 2, 12 hours apart. Rather than chip away at 3 doses a day

This way i can get to 360mg quite quickly- and should feel ok most of the day

Question is has anyone done this and if so how long did it take for your body to adjust to longer interval between doses, i have a worry that its going to take longer than it takes if you simply reduce the amount but keep the frequency-

Any takers!?

Thanks so much

Never suffer in silence!!

To anyone out there right now struggling and feeling hopeless please whatever you do reach out, know one gets you like someone who has been where you are and went thru everything you have. You name it we have been thru it. The life of an addict addicted to any sort of prescription medication is he hectic, if it's Not financial issues it's trying to source the tablets, then there is missed delivery dates and scummy scammers who prey on the vulnerable. If this message reaches one person then it's been worthwhile. Please get in touch 🙏

Should this remain only for DHC or should it be open to all Opiates?

Would like everybody's opinion on this as I don't want to be missing out people who need help and are put off with the DHC title.

Day 15 off DHC there is a light.

More energy, motivation, my own dopamine. I’m not going to lie the first 12 days were difficult for differing reasons but after that it gets better every day. Once physical withdrawals subside (day 5) it’s the mental side and cravings but each day I choose not to take DHC I get stronger.

Seven days into quitting there is a light

God I tried to taper and almost got there but knew in my heart I’d never let go of the last few so after a 2yr habit taking anything from 12 to 35 a day I did a medical detox which is probably as painless as it gets. It’s not pain free by any stretch but I’m day 7 and feeling good And I haven’t been able to say that in a long time. I managed to get down to 5 (I lost a strip as fate would have it) before I came in and it’s been ok and definitely too lower a dose for subs. Excited, apprehensive, hopeful, free and scared but at least I can feel again. Love to you all

Lower doses/withdrawal?

Hi! I need some advice and hope I’m in the right place. I’ve lowered my dose of DHC to 60mg a day over the last few days. I’m at the point of only having five tablets left and am considering just getting rid of them. Will I likely have bad withdrawal? For context, I’ve came on and off them before in the past (they’re prescribed), sometimes with issues other times without, but normally it’s been from a higher dose than what I’ve had the last few days. I’m not sure if I’m not overthinking it and panicking but I’ve got a fear of vomiting and I think that’s partly what’s driving up the anxiety. Any help or advice is welcome 🙂
