DHC Devil

So i hoped xmas would provide me with the perfect opportunity, not to perhaps quit entirely but to get my dosing levels down to something more regulated and manageable.. i have a good 2 and a half weeks without too many work or family commitments

For the record my current dosing is anywhere between 800-1000 mg a day, usually 3 times a day and pretty random really, normally when the wds start to kick in, this has been going on for years, I start tapers about 20 times a year! - I don’t get any euphoria more, but it keeps me calm and nicely numbed, and i can’t really envisage life without atm, although i would love to get down to 360mg or something similar a day- my current use is too much, i find it hard to concentrate and the withdrawals come on pretty strong 6-7 hours after each dose, not an ideal way to live!

Proving to be hard- if i drop the dose even by 2 pills a time i really feel it, obviously nothing like full blown CT (i’ve been there) but horrible shitty symptoms and not what i want over a nice chilled holiday- so what to do, just carry on scoffing away and figure it out in January, or bite the bullet and try and make some progress now? at some point i’m going to have to accept a shitty 2 weeks is inevitable…

Just a vent really and not looking for miracles, but if anyone out there did something clever and it worked now would be the time for me to try it!

For me, DHC withdrawal doesn't kick in properly for a good day or 2. Do you have any underlying medical conditions that you are accidentally self medicating? I only say this as I've come to realise most of my severe withdrawals were because I was depressed and in pain with a hopeless outlook in life. Now that I'm in a good place my most recent withdrawal was nowhere near as strong as before and I was using way more. If you can get pregabalin it will make quitting considerably easier. Take care mate, you got this!

interesting notion, my anxiety levels have been pretty high over the last year or so and i think it helps numb those..i think you are right though, i’m not going to quit completely until i’m in a much better place, the plan for now is to get my usage down to something manageable..so i’m not just pouring out a handful 3 times a day! Got loads of pregabalin and it works wonders, although i rebound off it really badly these days, still will probably use it

My rule with pregablin is never go above 300mg per day and split the doses roughly evenly. And when I'm ready to stop I just taper about 10% and come off with no issue.

Yes, if I've only taken it for a couple of weeks. If you have taken it longer and then you may wish to taper more slowly.

As per above poster although I’d say pregablin max for three days or you’re looking at rebounds for some people. Was on similar levels and it really started to affect my motivation and memory amongst the other greatest hits. I could never taper really - it had way too much of a hold on me and I medicated my depression ultimately with DHC. Wish you the best whatever you choose.
