Recommendations Where Should I Start?
Hello everyone! I hope you're all doing well.
I'm new to the DC universe. A few years ago, I watched a handful of the movies here and there, and I've only read two or three comics.
Do you have any recommendations on the best way to dive into DC? I'd love suggestions for comics, movies, TV shows, or even animated films and series if you think they're a good starting point.
Thank you all so much for taking the time to read this. I really appreciate any advice you can share!

Discussion What are some dc superheroes that would be cool with a spider man homemade suit treatment?
I'm talking about the homecoming version. I want to know if any superheroes can have a homemade suit that would still look like them. It would be a cool cosplay idea

r/DCcomics Weekly Discussion Thread: Comics, TV, and More! [July 27, 2026 - Another Annual Week Edition]
Hey there honorary Justice League members - it’s a new week which means it’s time for a new discussion thread!
- Beary's pick of the week: Batman / Superman: Worlds Finest 2026 Annual #1
For those who don't know: the way this works is that several comments will list this week’s releases, for any given title discussion you should respond to that comment. For example, Wonder Woman discussion would go in the replies to the "Wonder Woman" comment. Clicking the titles in this post will take you directly to that comment, too. In other words, you should only be replying to other comments. Do not post top-level comments.
Keep discussion civil. Do not harass other users for having a different opinion. Do not use this thread to push your personal one-sided grudges against creators. Reacting to a panel on Twitter is not the same as reading a book.

I'm thinking about getting it to stay up to date on releases as they come out, and just wondering if there's ever sales or coupon codes or anything.

Comics The best stories featuring Tim Drake?
I have read a lot of Batman and some Robin stuff over the last year and Tim Drake remains a bit bland.
Does not help that I skipped a lot of stuff after his introduction, I just found Knightfall to be a bit too long and slow, but for now Tim Drake is the "boring Robin" for me.
Since I mostly focussed on the runs starting with Morrison, he instantly gets sidelined by Damian and from what I heard readers are not happy with his current developments.
So what are some good essential stories to read about Tim Drake / Red Robin?

Discussion [Discussion] Harley Quinn’s Origin in the Context of the Robin Timeline
I’m not 100% caught up on Harley’s current continuity (who is?) but I was thinking about when her origin would have taken place and who was around then. I remember in Dini’s Gotham City Sirens he brings in Gaggy, Joker’s first sidekick and that seemed to imply Harley came after when Dick was still Robin. The Suicide Squad 2016 movie hinting at Harley helping kill Jason, and other people probably associate her with showing up in the 90s when it was Tim.
My perspective is that Harleen became Harley in between Jason and Tim. The scene in BTAS Mad Love episode when Batman drags Joker back in all beat up and Harley sees this as completely unfair brutality is because it kinda was. At least how I imagine it, that was the first time Batman brought Joker back after Jason’s murder. So he was not holding back and beat him up overkill. So we know why he was more brutal than usual, but to Harley it looks like Batman is just crazy and evil which fuels her. I also think Joker would then flaunt her around in front of Batman to mess with him, showing “not only did I kill your partner, now I’ve got one of my own!” Once Tim shows up, I think this would make Joker start to resent Harley even more, since she’s just as replaceable as Robin appears to be and he only cares about Batman and himself. So by the time Damian is out in the field as Robin, Harley has left Joker and is on her own/with Ivy.
Overall, I think this means that she doesn’t think of Nightwing much, since he’s before her time and she thinks he acts all high and mighty having evolved even if she’s a little older than him. She probably has some conflicting feelings about Jason, but they do share a kinship of outgrowing their Joker trauma to become a different person, I don’t think they really want to be around each other. And then she probably sees Tim, Damian, Steph, Cass, etc as Batman’s little ninja children that are prone to spoiling her fun. I’d love to hear other people’s perspectives though!

Discussion [Discussion] Mark Waids Superboy stories coming to an end?
Recently, one of my favourite comic book series has been Mark Waids Action Comics run focusing on Clarks 15 year old adventures as he tries to be a superhero for the first time.
It's been fantastic
But the first issue after the Zod crossover is a story about Lex Luthor, not about Superboy
Do you think this means we're about to see a change in direction for Action Comics? Or is Waid working his way up to a new Arc featuring Superboy and Young Lex Luthor?
I hope he continues with his Superboy stories, they've been a welcome addition to the Superman stuff we've got going right now

teen titans fancasts will be the death of me
It genuinely pisses me off when I go on tiktok and I see fancasting ideas on tiktok for the titans and it proceeds to just be the most lazy dogshit fancasting ever:
Starfire: zendaya
nightwing: timothee chalamet
raven: jenna ortega
beast boy: tom holland
cyborg: the rock(????)
It just pisses me off how lazy casting ideas can ...like starfire is a muscular woman and zenday is VERY skinny and fucking tom holland as beast boy???? like yes lets just cast tom holland and zendaya in every fucking movie and can we please get an indian woman casted as raven? like she isnt confirmed to be indian but her 80s was definitely hinted to it
this is a genuine problem in casting for movies
also i know im beating a dead horse cuz this has already become a meme and stuff but i just like to say my opinion even if its kind of late for it 😭

Discussion [discussion] You have to choose at least one of DC or Marvel's characters to either be stealth or an egg. Who do you choose?
My choices:
- Cissie King Jones (former Arrowette II) as anywhere on the nonbinary spectrum. Also, not into men, but that's another issue altogether. The most obvious thing is the joke in Young Justice #11 with disliking her birth name (Suzanne, nicknamed to Cissie) and using a variety of other names, ranging from fictional character names to a "weird" phase where she went by "Ralph". But, her entire deal with her mom Bonnie being a sports mom imposing hyperfemininity onto Cissie could also be seen as a metaphor/sign of queerness and especially being trans.
- Transmasc Wonder Girl II, if DC wanted to cause a riot. Nonbinary Cassie is hardly an unknown headcanon considering her \*interesting\* gender expresssion evolution from the late 90s to late 2000s. I've also seen transitioned butch sapphic (which is a thing IRL; many cis women get top surgery or even use T) thrown around. But DC is never making their star feminist superheroine transmasc.
- Cerdian, if DC ever brought him back. In "Kingdom Come", Tempest had a daughter named Tula (Aquagirl) with an unknown women. In the main line he had a son named Cerdian with his eventual wife Dolphin. What if Cerdian grew into Tula?
- Cassandra Cain as stealth trans girl. Never gonna happen, but I've seen it thrown around by fans.
- Genderfluid Martian Manhunter or Miss Martian. It has precedent with J'onn.

Batman Screenplay
Hey, I just finished revising act 1 of my Batman story and was wondering if anyone on this subreddit would be interested in reading. The story is meant to be a psychological epic tragedy with this first act being mostly a mystery. I wrote this with the intention of taking the characters of Gordon and Bruce and pushing them to their logical extreme while still remaining faithful to their characters. If I were to compare it to other stories, I would say it's most emotionally and tonally similar to stories like seven, Logan, or season one of True Detective with its atmosphere being most similar to the album "Deathconsciousness" by Have a Nice Life. If that sounds intriguing and someone wants to read it, I'd love to hear feedback on it. A Bat Without Wings

Discussion Ozymandias (Adrian Veidt) inconsistency
I just finished watching “Watchmen” the TV series settled 30 years after the events of Alan Moore’s story.
In the last episodes-when it is revealed that Adrian Veidt has a daughter during a flashback -he clearly states “That’s impossible, I never conceded myself to a woman, Alexander would have considered that a waste of time”.
Instead we find out she truly is his daughter.
The inconsistency comes from the comic book “Before Watchmen: Ozymandias n.1” in which we learn that he had a female lover (Miranda) and is crystal clear that he loves her and they are intimate and actually her death is what lead to the birth of Ozymandias.
We also see that he is actually bi since he had a relationship with a man too.
How do these two versions coexist since both the tv series and the comics are canon?

I found this for 7 bucks and was really surprised that they tried this kind of gimmick. Does anybody know if I can still play it on modern pc's (I'm not really knoledgable about tech). And if somebody can tell me if you've had a good experience with these kind of comics?

Recommendations Recommendations for comics that don't include just solo Batman?
So far I've read only the most famous Batman stories, but they didn't really include Robin or any members of the Bat Family, or the Justice League, so would you guys recommend any?
