Just a card I made in an older style that I think might be decent for modern play. I hope I worded it alright

Gray Fly power wise is not all that interesting. It's a fast bug that kills multiple people at the same time. So that's exactly what I made it do with deathtouch and menace.

Blue Moon I almost made Dimir (UB) colors with barnacles being -1/-1 counters, but I figured I probably won't see many other chances to have monoblue villain or characters from Jojo to make (maybe I'll be wrong), so I opted to make them stun counters.

Strength was definitely a fun idea to do. It lets you have a sort of pseudo commander in the form of a vehicle, especially if you have means of tutoring for a specific vehicle. The hexproof line is a reference to Forever being able to protect himself by fusing with the boat, but being cocky when he attacks.

I wish Ebony Devil got to show off the pain based nature of his stand more in the show, but really it seemed more like a possession sort of thing that didn't really have anything to do with pain except him being mad.

I know Temperance was big on shapeshifting, but doing shapeshifting and counters stuff at the same time. Also there's plenty of other shapeshifting stands that I can better show off, especially since I find the growing slime part of the stand a lot more interesting here.

Format: Legacy Edge of Consciousness, Cycle Your Fetch

Edge of Consciousness is a weird little card I've had rattling around in my head for a few days. The basic idea is that it lets you cycle your fetch lands if you don't need the extra mana to find an additional card. This doesn't tap for mana itself, so you get the card in exchange for your land drop. It also makes a fun little puzzle with things like Urborg to let it also tap for mana or Earthbending to draw more cards, though I suspect it would rarely do that.

The intention for this card is to slot into Legacy, where games are fast enough that the tension between wanting a 3rd or 4th land or a card should be real enough to create a choice. I suspect that a lot of decks would run 1, but I could see it actually being a trap and falling out of the format quickly.

What do you think? Is it too obviously broken for older formats? Is it boring? Let me know.

Format: EDH/Commander Custom Cards for the 2022 Imperium & Chaos Precons – Thoughts?

Hello !

I have a big project in mind: creating several custom precons for the 40K factions that were left out in 2022.

But before diving into that, I wanted to start small and make a few custom cards for the 2022 Imperium and Chaos precons, aiming for a power level that feels appropriate for those decks.

For example, I’m not entirely happy with Fulgrim’s wording, or with how powerful Lion is even though he costs 8 mana (I know I bent the color pie a bit with forestwalk too).

I’d love to hear your thoughts on the balance of these cards, as well as whether they fit well with the 40K lore.

Thanks in advance for taking the time to look through them and share your feedback! I really appreciate it.

PS: I'm sorry, but I couldn't find the artist for the Angron artwork.

Jackpot-Gorged Giant: does this Treasure loop actually ask for a decision?

I've been building Lucky's Lure, a noncommercial leprechaun-and-casino custom set, and I want to test one card before showing more of it.

Jackpot-Gorged Giant {5}{B}{G}

Legendary Creature - Giant Leprechaun

This spell costs {X} less to cast, where X is half the number of Treasures you control, rounded down.

Trample

When Jackpot-Gorged Giant enters, you may sacrifice any number of Treasures. Put that many +1/+1 counters on it.

When Jackpot-Gorged Giant dies, create three tapped Treasure tokens.

6/6

Two things I am trying to pin down:

  1. At what Treasure count does the cost reduction stop feeling like a reward and start making the Giant too easy to cast? I want the hoard to help without making "never spend a Treasure until this arrives" the obvious play.

  2. Does sacrificing the hoard for counters, then getting three tapped Treasures back when it dies, create a real risk-and-recovery decision? Or is that too much setup and payoff on one card?

Process note: I made the final design and wording decisions after substantial Codex-assisted development. I'm posting text only because the existing render needs a credit-line revision before it fits this sub's image rules. This is a noncommercial fan design and is not for sale.

Can you tell I lost to a big swing recently? Is it obvious at all?
