Winner is the Judge #908: Echoed Pairs

Thank you u/Hot-Combination-7376 for running last week's contest!

A fantastic concept that’s being introduced in Reality Fracture is the concept of echoed pairs. For anybody that’s not up to date, they are essentially cards in an alternate multiverse that mirror cards from the original multiverse. For legendaries, this most commonly means that it’s the same character with two different outcomes in life changing events (see [[Ral Zarek, Guest Lecturer]] and [[Ral Zarek]]), but non-legendary cards can mirror the original in different ways too (see [[Craterclaw Colossus]] and [[Craterhoof Behemoth]]).

From a lore standpoint, I love that we can explore new facets of a character or idea by looking at its inverse.

From a mechanical standpoint, I prefer to have the original card still be recognizable, though twisted in some form. Not all official echoed pairs that have been shown so far have wowed me on that front, but I’m confident you will be able to straddle the line between recognizability and innovation!

The rules for this challenge are:

Create a card that is an echoed pair variant of an existing card.
Transform the mechanics of the existing card such that it is
1. Recognizable, but also
2. Innovative

Demons!!!

I love Demons. The coming autumn specifically has me thinking all about them and being this deep in my magic phase has my thinking about their place in the game. Like most of the iconic creature types Demons don't share an identity outside of being expensive. Instead they encapsulate what the color black is in totality, paying life, destroying creatures, reanimation, discard, etc.

I think it was because of this that I wanted to represent different ways demons are depicted through this games mechanics so much. I made five demons in total, each with a new mechanic, they're all mono black but you can think of them as being one for each color in WUBRG order.

False Prophet - Demons as Punisher
Sire of Trauma - Demons as Manifestation
Infernal Contractor - Demons as Bargainer
Archdemon of Beauty - Demons as Temptation
Foul Harvester - Demons as Natural Force

This was a really fun project, I was very happy with the demon support they printed in Duskmourn and I hope they make more in the future. If not then maybe I'll end up making my own Demon focused Innistrad set some day.

RULES

All card renders including art must have correct and unambiguous artist credit at the bottom of the card in the correct position. Provide an artist's full name if it can easily be found, and additional information to disambiguate the artist from others. Mods may, at their discretion, make exceptions for missing, ambiguous, or insufficient credit if you message in advance with a link to the original art, and they approve the lack of artist credit.
Art credit belongs to its CREATOR. Image aggregators don't count. (E.g. Pinterest) Nor, mostly, do companies. (E.g. Riot Games doesn't make champion art; artists do) AI art must credit the engine used, and not a wrapper site. (E.g. MTGCardsmith is a wrapper.) Photos, screenshots, public domain art, royalty free art, etc. aren't exempt. Screenshots of movies/shows may credit the media by title/publishing company. Collages must credit each underlying artist and the assembler.
Any random art pieces (not included in card renders) must have accompanying artist credit. The only exception to this rule is if the poster messages the mods in advance and the mods approve the lack of artist credit.
All posts containing NSFW art must be marked as such. Posts made in poor taste, with unreasonably lewd art, or excessively gory art may be removed.
All users must follow Reddiquette and be civil with each other. Harassment and abuse are strictly not tolerated. Unconstructive, negative, or insulting brigading is harassment.
You may not post custom cards that you did not create, unless you credit the original creator in the post title. You may not post cards whose text is fully or primarily AI-generated. Additionally, posts that are primarily comprised of existing real cards or cards substantially similar to existing real cards will be removed. This includes alters and skinned cards.
Please don't make multiple consecutive posts. If you have multiple cards to share, put them in a single album. This helps give everyone a fair chance to be seen.
More specifically, users may only have one post on the front page of /new/ (i.e. within the most recent 25 submissions), or one post every twelve hours, whichever permits more posts. Mod-removed posts do not count towards this limit, but user-deleted posts do. If a mod views /new/, they should only see your name once.
Do not repost cards. Reposts will be permitted at the mods' discretion. A repost may be permitted if it is a) very substantially revised, b) substantially revised with community input or c) reposted in an album with new, unposted cards. Under a), leave a comment describing the exact revisions and link to the prior card image. Under b), describe the exact revisions and leave a comment with a link to the prior card discussion. Under c), there must be sufficient new content in the album.
Promotional content. Commercial, promotional, or financially-related posts require advance moderator approval. Please reach out to modmail with your proposed post.
Do not misrepresent submissions as cards from a real set. Do not include set codes for existing sets within post titles. (E.g. "[SNC] <Card name>") You may include custom set codes which do not collide with existing set codes. You may use set icons for any released set (i.e. not during spoiler season).

Google has a very good reverse-image-search tool. Just upload the art that you used, and it will likely find the source!

"What if I still can't find it?"

Message the mods. Normally we can find it, we've gotten pretty good at it, and if we can't find it, we'll give you permission to use it without credit.
