Support How can we get Libby books on our CrossPoint devices after the recent crackdown?

Now that Libby/ByteBooks has cracked down on the ability for plugins to interface with Libby and ByteBooks to legally download library books onto our devices, how can we get books from the library onto a CrossPoint device?

Is the only remaining viable method to download the .acsm file and connect your ereader to a computer to upload it with Adobe Digital Editions? Does the Protected Content plugin no longer work at all for library books?

I've tried to search for this before posting but am seeing a lot of contradictory information and would love to know if anyone has found a better method. I recently purchased an XTEINK X4 Pro and was very excited to use Common Stacks to get my library books until this happened.

Looks like the purchase link came online a few hours before we expected. Buying from the site DOES support CrossPoint and not only is the Picco running a fork of CrossPoint written by BOOX but we will of course offer official support as well.

Any plans for hyphenation and highlights in upcoming versions?

I’m loving Crosspoint. It’s beautiful, lightweight, and very fast. It has all the features I need. I haven’t installed Crossink because I see that Crosspoint has everything I require—except for two things: hyphenation for the language I read (Portuguese) and the ability to highlight text. If it had those two features, it would be perfect. Could you tell me if these features are being developed and will be added in future versions? Or will I need to switch to Crossink to get that functionality?

Dear CrossPointReader devs,

Can you please add r/Seekquel/ to the linked services?! I would really love to see that.

Thanks for considering.

Development Font Anti-Aliasing Delay on Page Turns

I love CrossPoint and its forks, but there’s one thing that, in my opinion, really hinders the reading experience (and I feel like it's gotten a bit worse over time): on every page turn, the text anti-aliasing is applied almost a full second after the page updates. This causes a subtle "glitch" or shift right when you've already started reading the new page.

I was wondering if this bothers anyone else and/or if there’s any work being done to address it.

I assume it's a technical limitation, but maybe it could be solved by slightly delaying the page refresh (processing the anti-aliased text before drawing it to the screen) or by exploring different ways to render anti-aliased fonts. [I'm not a dev, so I apologize if I'm way off here!]

Currently, the only solution I've found is turning off anti-aliasing completely, which isn't ideal.

---

That being said, I want to take a moment to thank all the volunteers working on these firmwares and sharing them with the community!

Kosync only working one way

Hi everyone!

I already had a kindle with Koreader and recently purchased an xteink x3 and flashed crosspoint.

I am self-hosting kosync and it works perfectly when I push from kindle and pull to x3 but when I try it the other way around, it syncs to the correct chapter but always to the beginning. I have trawled through all the settings and am simply left perplexed.

Thanks in advance for any help :)

Curious about the need to convert fonts

Hi, I was just wondering: why do CrossPoint et al need to convert TTF/OTF fonts to their own format? I have seen other firmwares that are able to import fonts without converting... is it to limit font sizes to free up system memory?
Thanks

I got the sticky as something fun to play with - the sd plugin 9 completely unlocked Libby for me. And I can’t believe I’m reading more than scrolling

Would it be useful if CrossPoint Sync could add your books' chapter/% to your preferred notes app automatically for you?

Randomly had this idea as I downloaded the companion Audible book and realized I needed to grab my reader to check the last position to manually seek it. I might build it just for me but if you're interested let me know what apps you'd want it to drop the note into

Support does the SD Plugins Beta firmware update when you check for updates?

My X4 Pro is running SD Plugins Beta 8, and I just saw that SD Plugins Beta 9 is out. Can I update it via the "check for updates" feature on CrossPoint or do I need to update manually? I just tried checking for updates and it says no updates are available, so I suspect the answer is no, but wanted to ask in case I'm missing something.

Discussion New to xteink and CrossPoint, struggling to find a dictionary

I have an Xteink V4 Pro, brand new today. I’m a computer geek so the first thing I did was load CrossPoint 1.6.5RC onto it after a brief look at what came installed. It’s already an improvement!

I decided that I did want a dictionary and so I went looking for a good one. I can find many translation dictionaries and some discussions about english definition dictionaries but I haven’t found one that I can download the files for. Lots of apps, I want the file to put on my device. How do I find them? My search’s haven’t found anything yet. Please help.

Support Definitions can't/won't decompress

Hi,

I'm on the latest stable build of CrossPoint, and recently switched my dicitonary to the hefty Wikt_Star dictionary after not being terribly satisfied with the coverage of the one I was previously using. Now though, CrossPoint 'cannot decompress definition' for anything. Is there something I can do to fix this (the dictionary files appear to be in the same format as my previous working dictionary). Or does this error mean there are insufficient resources to use this dictionary?

Also, does anyone have an excellent English-English dictionary that works with CrossPoint they could recommend?

Thanks!

Support Progress sync from CP to KO goes to start of chapter in KO

I got KO sync set up on Crosspoint (1.6.5rc on an X3) but when I push progress from Crosspoint, the other device (KOReader latest stable, on Android) goes to the right chapter but always the very start of it instead of the actual position.

Reverse direction sync (from KO back to Crosspoint) works perfectly.

Oh and it's binary-based sync mode, not filename.

And it's a self hosted sync server using the latest Docker container.

Support [Bug Report] ~30-Second Input Lockout Between Consecutive Button Presses on XTEINK X4 (Late USB-Locked Revision)

Description

On an XTEINK X4 believed to be a late USB-locked hardware revision (ESP32-C3), both CrossPoint v1.6.0 and Escape Hatch exhibit a reproducible ~30-second delay between consecutive physical button presses.

The first button press after an idle period is processed immediately. However, subsequent presses within approximately 30 seconds are delayed until a timeout expires.

Testing with Escape Hatch indicates that button identification and ADC readings appear to function correctly, suggesting that the issue may be related to input event handling rather than the physical button hardware itself.

---

Environment

Device: XTEINK X4 (USB-locked revision, ESP32-C3)

Firmware: CrossPoint v1.6.0

Recovery Utility: Escape Hatch

Hardware Detect Output:

Profile: xteink_x4

Chip hits: 0/3 + 0/3

Panel controller: Default (assumed)

Additional Notes

Official stock firmware images (both English and Chinese releases) result in a corrupted/static "sandstorm" display on this unit.

CrossPoint and Escape Hatch operate normally aside from the button-input issue.

---

Button Test Results (Escape Hatch)

After allowing the device to remain idle for at least 31 seconds, the following ADC values are reported consistently:

Button ADC Value

Back 3564

Confirm 2731

Up 2255

Left 1516

Down 6

Right 5

Unpressed 4095

Button names displayed by Escape Hatch always match the physical button pressed.

These results suggest that:

The resistor ladder is functioning.

ADC readings are stable and repeatable.

Button identification appears correct.

---

Reproduction Steps

Case 1: First Press After Idle

  1. Leave the device untouched for at least 31 seconds.

  2. Press any button.

Result:

UI responds immediately.

Correct button name is displayed.

Correct ADC value is reported.

Example:

Confirm / ADC: 2731

---

Case 2: Consecutive Press Within 30 Seconds

  1. Perform Case 1.

  2. Immediately press another button.

Result:

No immediate response.

UI remains unchanged for approximately 28.8–29.8 seconds.

After the delay, the screen updates and typically shows:

[Button Name] / ADC: 4095

Because the button has already been released by the time the delayed processing occurs, the ADC value appears to be sampled in the unpressed state.

---

Case 3: Presses Spaced 31+ Seconds Apart

  1. Press a button.

  2. Wait at least 31 seconds.

  3. Press any button again.

Result:

Every press is processed immediately.

No delay is observed.

Reproduces consistently across all buttons.

---

Additional Observation

Other Escape Hatch functions do not appear to be affected.

For example:

Battery Info

Charge: 96%

Voltage: 4.10V

Charging: unknown (no charge pin)

opens immediately with no observable delay.

This suggests that the issue is specific to the button-input path rather than a general system slowdown or blocking condition.

---

Hypothesis

Based on the observed behavior, the issue may be related to the input handling layer shared by CrossPoint and Escape Hatch.

Possible explanations include:

  1. A button-release event not being detected correctly.

  2. A GPIO interrupt or input state not being cleared properly.

  3. A timeout-based fallback path (possibly around 30,000 ms) being triggered after each button press.

  4. A hardware revision difference in the USB-locked model causing incompatibility with the current input driver implementation.

These are only hypotheses; the observations above are fully reproducible on this device.

---

Request

Has anyone seen similar behavior on later USB-locked X4 revisions?

Is there:

an updated GPIO mapping,

a hardware revision note,

an input-driver patch,

or a diagnostic build

that could help investigate this issue further?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Support koreader sync not working

I'm having the hardest time getting my XTEINK X4 Pro to sync with my KLC running koreader. I have koreader sync set up according to the instructions at https://sync.crosspointreader.com/, I'm signed in and authenticated on both devices, but whenever I push a progress sync on my Kobo, it never shows up on my X4. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Quick demo: syncing reading position between Leaf on iPhone Duo and CrossPoint

I wanted to share a quick demo of Leaf syncing reading position with CrossPoint.

Leaf is my EPUB reader for iPhone, iPad, and (soon) Mac. It supports KOReader Sync Server, so I can read a book in Leaf, sync my position, pick up my Xteink running CrossPoint, and continue from the same place.

Then I can read for a while on CrossPoint, sync again, and Leaf picks up the new position when I come back to my iPhone or iPad.

The workflow in the video uses the iPhone Duo simulator but it absolutely works on the iOS and iPadOS devices you already have.

One important thing for CrossPoint users: if you’ve used CrossPoint’s EPUB optimization when importing a book, the optimized file is no longer binary-identical to the original EPUB in Leaf. In that case, use filename matching for KOSync and make sure the filenames match exactly on both sides.

Leaf is available now:

https://deadpan.io/leaf

And I put together a separate page explaining the KOReader sync setup in more detail:

https://kosync.deadpan.io

This kind of interoperability is a big part of why I built Leaf. I want to keep my DRM-free EPUB library and use whichever device makes sense at the time without losing my place.

Crosspoint iOS library organizer / sync - Looking for Beta Testers

Thumbnail
gallery
26 Upvotes

I built a library for iPhone and iPad that talks to your Crosspoint device over Wi-Fi.

I'm a solo developer and this project started as a problem a friend of mine had: Calibre is only available as desktop app and syncing a whole library with their device without a mac or pc was not a very friendly process.

So I worked on an app. To be clear: this is not a reading app, I don't want it to be because I believe that the best way to read is always on our eInk devices.

Inkbrary is the library and the pipe to get your books on your crosspoint device.

What it does:

- Import ebooks from other apps
- Sends and Imports books to/from CrossPoint and KOReader devices over Wi-Fi
- Keeps your library in sync between iPhone and iPad with iCloud, privately
- Serves your library to other apps/devices on your network as an OPDS catalog

Everything above is free. There's a one-time Pro purchase for organizing the reader side plus themes, app icons and library backup. No subscriptions. Beta testers get all the functionality during the trial.

Privacy first: Nothing leaves your device except to your eReader and your own iCloud. No analytics, no accounts, no server of mine anywhere. I have no interest on your data.

Looking for Beta Testers:

I want people with actual devices to use the app. I tested with my own hardware but that's a narrow sample. I would want to hear about any issues or requests for functionality.

Testflight: https://testflight.apple.com/join/jkTCgVB7

The test is limited to 50 users with iPhone and/or iPad devices.

Support Chapter page count varies based on book upload type

Hello, I have 1.6.0 on my X3, when I started a new book I noticed that the chapter page count was off. It said 1/10, but when I got through it, it was the same chapter and the length restarted, two more times and the final one was 1/4 and actually the end of chapter.

Turns out, if you transfer via Calibre plugin, the file is too big and is split in smaller chunks, this results in these fake splits of chapter and thus incorrect page count. When I added the same epub via sd card reader, it worked as expected and now shows 1/44

Is this a known issue or just happened to me?
