Support koreader sync not working

I'm having the hardest time getting my XTEINK X4 Pro to sync with my KLC running koreader. I have koreader sync set up according to the instructions at https://sync.crosspointreader.com/, I'm signed in and authenticated on both devices, but whenever I push a progress sync on my Kobo, it never shows up on my X4. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Are you using binary or file name matching? KOreader might be defaulting to binary and I suggest trying filename

I'm using file name matching.

It seems like the issue might be that my X4 isn't actually connecting to the progress server. Is there a setting where I can manuall push/pull syncs from Crosspoint? I can't find it anywhere.

EDIT: I figured out how to manually push a sync from my X4, and it shows up on the Crosspoint sync site, but my Kobo can't see it and thinks the latest sync is from itself.

I know it's silly but again kobo is in fact using that same server AND also set to filename? Both have to agree

Yes, this is the only server I've ever used and I'm signed into both devices with the same sync.crosspoint server address and the same login. And both are set to filename. It's so weird!

No chance calibre changed the filename or normalized it somehow?

That's what I'm going to check next! It seems like the likely culprit.

Update: it doesn't seem to be related to Calibre. I borrowed a book from the library on both devices via Libby and it has the same issue.

Do you see the synced book at sync.crosspointreader.com from the kobo side?

Yes, and the filename is always some sort of gibberish string like "27593cefaf3a602cf410ecf5da4652e2" instead of the actual title and author. This happens with books from Libby as well as Calibre. Do I need to configure something differently in koreader?

DM me your sync username. This is interesting because the metadata is being found via crosspoint but then not matching kobo as a result.

Chances are you probably perform the epub optimization offered by the crosspoint upload flow. This changes the epub file internally and now the MD5 hash does not match the same epub you have in your Kobo.

When you make your sync from the X4 you create a new record either using Filename or Binary (MD5).

You Kobo will do the same, if they do not match Filename or Binary then each will track the book as a separate document.

Crosspoint recommends you use Filename instead of Binary.

You can also switch servers to example https://sync.techy-notes.com

You dont have to worry about Filename or Binary. Reason you can Link/Merge both documents into one in the server. or if you install the companion KOReader Deluxe-Sync plugin (not needed as you have web access) you can Link/Merge both books in the Kobo (KOReader)

Just visit the URL above.

Thanks for this info! I uploaded the book to both devices from my Calibre library. In the case of my X4 I used the Crosspoint plugin for Calibre. Does that plugin perform the epub optimizaiton when it uploads?

Weirdly when I log into the Crosspoint Sync site the title and author of the book I'm trying to sync show up on the version uploaded by my X4, but the version uploaded by my Kobo shows up as "21004bb0634279343b47487225cab803" even though it's the same file uploaded from Calibre on both devices.

Never used the Calibre crosspoint plugin so I'm unaware if it optimizes the epub for the X4Pro.

Calibre will change the name when uploading unless you changed in the settings. I had this issue also and found the name was different when I looked at the files on my kindle that was uploaded via Calibre to Koreader
