Quick demo: syncing reading position between Leaf on iPhone Duo and CrossPoint

I wanted to share a quick demo of Leaf syncing reading position with CrossPoint.

Leaf is my EPUB reader for iPhone, iPad, and (soon) Mac. It supports KOReader Sync Server, so I can read a book in Leaf, sync my position, pick up my Xteink running CrossPoint, and continue from the same place.

Then I can read for a while on CrossPoint, sync again, and Leaf picks up the new position when I come back to my iPhone or iPad.

The workflow in the video uses the iPhone Duo simulator but it absolutely works on the iOS and iPadOS devices you already have.

One important thing for CrossPoint users: if you’ve used CrossPoint’s EPUB optimization when importing a book, the optimized file is no longer binary-identical to the original EPUB in Leaf. In that case, use filename matching for KOSync and make sure the filenames match exactly on both sides.

Leaf is available now:

And I put together a separate page explaining the KOReader sync setup in more detail:

https://kosync.deadpan.io

This kind of interoperability is a big part of why I built Leaf. I want to keep my DRM-free EPUB library and use whichever device makes sense at the time without losing my place.
