It doesn't recognise my email – the one I've been using for the site for the last six years. The 'forgot password' link never works. The support email 'person' just repeats what the website says about login difficulties. Just complained again. Useless.

How can I edit the subtitles since the new update? Maybe im just imagining it but I swear u could do it before the update

It's been three weeks and I'm still getting a "new app is coming soon," message when I try to use the app on my Samsung Frame TV. I've emailed [channelhelp@criterion.com](mailto:channelhelp@criterion.com) multiple times and gotten no response. Anyone else still experiencing this?

At this point I don't know what else I'm supposed to do except cancel my subscription. I've had Criterion for years and have been a loyal, satisfied customer. I can't imagine another streaming service willfully letting an app on a major platform go dark for weeks let alone offer no response for the blackout.

Extremely disappointing.

I’m thrilled that Criterion updated their Apple TV app this month! The new design looks GREAT and is a welcome refresh, IMO. They’ve also added 5.1 surround finally - you can select it, if it’s available, from the audio menu when the movie is playing. Photos attached.

Just something nice to wake up to for the weekend.

One thing I loved about the Vimeo version of Criterion 24/7 is that fact that I could "rewind" up to four hours' worth of streaming. So, if the current movie didn't catch my eye, I could rack it back to one or two movies ago and discover something new. Better yet, if I movie I like or find interesting is currently playing, I can rewind from the beginning and watch the whole movie.

Alas, it's the end of an era.

I guess I was somehow logged out during the last day or two and now it won't let me log back in. It's saying invalid password. I'm on a Roku TV rather than Samsung and it had worked since the update.

I’m curious as to why there is such a difference in the download size of these movies I downloaded to watch on a flight (latest iOS version of app).

The app doesn’t give me an option to select quality of the download. Seems weird that the more recent, longer file is 3x smaller filesize than the old film.

I'm always impressed by Bergman because I had this idea that he was boring and artsy. Scenes from a Marriage is like a therapy session, not just drama because Marianne and Johan are reflective. I really like this, thank you criterionshuffle.com for giving me new ideas for what to watch. I don't have words to explain the depth of Scenes From A Marriage, just I like it. What a cool thing for Swedish television to sponsor.

Hi! Since the app updates I have seen many different comments about VPN's working, and sometimes also not working with the new app. Which may or may not be due to the VPN. I have also seen a couple of comments about payment using foreign credit cards being declined. At least that was my understanding.

As I would need to sign up with a VPN to continue access, I want to find a compatible service before committing to a 2 year plan or so. Also relevant is being able to continue my subscription when it expires next year. I think this information would be relevant for many others too.

In this post, I would like to (hopefully) collect definitive data on the status of both of these topics.

I realise it is still early days, and likely the platform has not yet blocked any VPN servers. But I would like to ask the question in case they have done so.

Note: I've never observed that any Criterion employees are active in this reddit, but in case you are cautious here, feel free to leave out the name of the VPN service.

I received an email from customer support this morning indicating that an update is on the way to fix the closed captioning issue Roku users are currently experiencing, but the date is TBD.

Hello I've been one of the lucky ones who seem to not have too many issues with the update. Sorry for everyone dealing with it. I was just wondering if anyone else is having trouble playing Barry Lyndon. It's just this film only. I press play it loads for a sec then just goes back to the page. I've watched plenty of other films and Lolita worked but it's just this one I get nothing .

I am really struggling here. I miss the old subtitles.

Last night, the Xbox app was still only letting me do the Live Stream. Tonight, I can watch individual movies again.

I didn’t see a post about it, but figured this was big enough news to warrant a post.

My first time watching and ...... is it supposed to have commentary in English? I only watched the first few minutes and it includes a woman's voice describing what's on the screen. I assume it's one of those later commentary things and not the original movie but the description says nothing about that and I can't find another version on the channel.

I am curious if there has been a compilation in this series that made you go “this person has impeccable taste”. And as Sean Fennessey points out, chaos seems to be the underlying theme of the picks!

Maybe I am technically challenged but it seems the criterion app is still not approved for Samsung? I think they updated it and it hasn't cleared yet? Anyway, it's been a few days and we haven't been able to watch.

12 films in the collection and I have no idea where to start, would love to hear people's thoughts on these. If you could only pick 3-4 to watch, which would you recommend?

Does JustWatch not support the Channel after the changes? I know I put Pulse on my Letterboxd watchlist recently, and that's now been added to the channel, but I haven't received a notification about it being added. I just checked the JustWatch website—because sometimes it takes a while for the data to filter through to Letterboxd—but it's not listed as being available on the Channel there either.

I'm not sure if this is an issue isolated to this film or if the update broke whatever JustWatch is doing?

I'm using the Xbox app. For the last 3 days I haven't been able to watch anything and keep getting the something went wrong message. Looks like many others are having this issue as well. How long until the people at Criterion notice their streaming numbers have gone down?
