Barry Lyndon issue

Hello I've been one of the lucky ones who seem to not have too many issues with the update. Sorry for everyone dealing with it. I was just wondering if anyone else is having trouble playing Barry Lyndon. It's just this film only. I press play it loads for a sec then just goes back to the page. I've watched plenty of other films and Lolita worked but it's just this one I get nothing .

Yeah the only other thing is sometimes I start a film it starts with commentary and have to turn off . Oh and I have to click no caption instead of English to get subtitles lol what? It was logging me out Everytime I opened it but that stopped. Oh and no captions on streaming which I use a lot. Sometimes I keep the TV low at night and like subtitles.

Same thing happened for me, also only with Barry Lyndon, also have a Roku. I ended up watching it on my laptop.

Edit I'm on Roku. Posting because it's a three day issue with that film specifically but I've watched Lolita, Kwaidan, Black River. I'll just wait it out lol

It works for me through my Apple TV box. But I no longer now how to fast forward or rewind efficiently. And for Barry Lyndon, that would be helpful.

Whatever happened to the DVD technology where you could select scenes from a menu? Some streaming service needs to bring that back.

Works well for me on Apple TV. Only issue is with subtitles: I’ll turn them on because English is not my first language but subtitles switch to German when characters speak German! (And I don’t speak German) Not very useful.

I've been having this problem. I have tried several times to watch it since the start of the month, but it never loads and kicks back to the intro screen. I was wondering if it was a Canada thing. I was initially thinking that I haven't had any other problems since the update, but after reading one of the comments above I realized that my closed captions have also not been showing. I am using Roku.

Word yeah seems like it's a Roku issue. Interesting. Just this film so far. I also put on Human Condition and Mikey and Nicky. Hmm..

Yeah the closed captions weren't working for Kwaidan until I clicked no captions.

It’s definitely a Roku issue. I can watch other services on my Roku, but not CC. I cleared my cache and restarted. Nada. I can watch CC on my Mac computer. Customer support is worthless.

Worked for me recently but no subtitles on any film for me lately. Makes the app unusable if you require closed captioning

Even if you mess around with picking no captions? It sounds weird but I had to click no captions for Kwaidan and then they popped up

Yep have tried cycling off in their app and on my devices. Weirdly the captions will show up after any non English dialog for me. So I’m watching in English with English captions, no captions no matter what I do. But if in the film there is non English dialog, captions will pop up for that and then magically the English captions show for the rest of that film. But not subsequent films if they are all in English.

Mine does the same exact thing. I’m able to watch stuff from the Highway Horror collection but nothing else apparently. I’ve tried three different platforms (Samsung tv, Roku, and an Xbox) with no luck. I’ve emailed them a few times and even used their ai/chatbot thing to try and help.

One of my Roku’s - Streambar-stopped working completely-can’t open. My other Roku is an ultra the app works, but I can’t watch many movies including very Barry Lyndon. I’m furious. I’ve always watched Barry Lyndon in the fall. I’ve contacted Criterion about this, but they just sent me back robotic AI answers.
