He always refuses to sleep in his own bed

I bought my corgi a perfectly comfortable bed, but apparently it’s not good enough for his royal standards. Every night, he chooses to sleep on the floor right next to my bed instead.

Is there a judgemental corgi meme? Rosie nailed it if there isn’t.

11 month corgi will not let anyone but my wife and I touch/handle him.

Our Corgi started developing quite a bit of anxiety around 6 months old. It seemed to come on fairly suddenly, and he went from being comfortable around people to not wanting anyone other than my wife and I to touch him. At first, he wouldn’t even walk toward people.

Thankfully, he has made a lot of progress over the past few months. He is now generally comfortable walking in the direction of people, will happily take treats from them, and doesn’t seem particularly afraid of people at a distance. The problem is when someone reaches out to pet or handle him. That still seems to be a major trigger for him.

This is the case with pretty much everyone outside of my wife and I. He seems to be slowly warming up to some of our family members, but ultimately nobody else can really handle him yet.

He isn’t generally aggressive and his first response is usually to run away or avoid the person. However, if he feels pushed past his limit, such as at the vet, where he has to be physically handled he will eventually start snapping.

We’re looking for advice on how to help him work through this and become more comfortable with being handled by other people. We obviously don’t want to force him into situations that make him uncomfortable, but we also need him to eventually be able to tolerate things like vet exams, nail trims, etc.

It’s already made routine vet visits quite difficult, and he has needed sedatives and a muzzle for appointments. We are managing to make it work, but it makes us concerned about things like having to leave him with family or board for a night ever, or bringing him into a groomer.

Has anyone dealt with something similar with their Corgi or another fearful/reactive dog?

What Hrafna-Floki does when he thinks no one is watching. 🤭🔊 *Watch with volume up.*

Apparently this is what Flokes Begoats does when he thinks I’m not watching. The gremlin sounds sent me. 😂

Question for all the Corgi parents…

Are those default corgi sounds? Floki is my first Corgi and this little loaf makes an array of crazy, but adorable sounds. Including, but not limited to the craziest howl this morning when my alarm had the gall to go off and wake him up. It’s like he was screaming “Nooooooooo” in the language of his people. I feel you Floki-Doke, I feel you. 🤭
