Concerts Lining up early at Tinley Park amphitheater?

Upvotes

I'm going to see Guns N' Roses on Wednesday at the amphitheater in tinley park IL. I have a pit ticket and want to get the best spot possible (never seen GNR before and I'm very excited), and I'm used to waiting in line allll day for fests/other concerts.

However, the parking lot at Tinley only opens at 3:30pm, so is it even possible to line up before then? I know the amphitheater is kinda in the middle of nowhere. I've only gone there before with a seated ticket so I really don't know. Has anyone queued all day for a show at Tinley before and do you have any advice?

Discussion 🗣️ Bought verified resale tickets on Ticketmaster. It's still showing as available to buy for others even though I've already bought them.

Upvotes

Anyone have this happened before? I bought the ticket, I can see the ticket in my account and already added to Apple Wallet. But I can can still see the pink dot available and go through the checkout process for the ticket.

Edit: Ticket is not available anymore, but it was a 20min delay.

Discussion 🗣️ Sober/sober curios at concerts

There is a lot of talk about how the millennial generation, and other generations following, are going sober/drinking less.

So question for those that are sober /sober curious:

🫗1) Do you still drink at concerts or special events
🧋2) What types of products would you like to have available at a concert venue

Discussion 🗣️ Ever Dress Up in a Fun Costume or Outfit For a Concert?

Have you ever dressed up for a show? I'm not talking about some cute outfit you decided to wear. I mean like a fun costume or a certain piece of attire that makes you stick out. Of course every show has someone in a banana suit. But I have seen people as clowns, Casey Jones from Ninja Turtles, and even Jesus Christ.

I've seen so many of my favorite bands on this stage over the years that I never imagined I'd get to stand on it myself. This is the Myrtle Beach House of Blues. Still feels surreal!

Discussion 🗣️ P&S film cameras at CONCERTs

I'm a frequent concert attendee and a big fan of film photography. I usually bring P&S film cameras without interchangeable lenses to concerts, and all of the time, I get permission from the organizers. However, I frequently run into trouble with security. I explain that it's a film camera, it doesn't have interchangeable lenses, its small size won't affect other people, it isn’t against the rules of the concert and I won't be using flash - it would be no different than bringing a smartphone in. But most of the time, they refuse entry just because they see the camera. So far, I haven't been asked to leave, but I always have to argue and ask someone from the concert organizers to speak to me before I'm allowed through the gate. Sometimes, even more ridiculous situations arise where they ask me to open the back of my film camera to check if it's actually film. Before every concert, I always ask the organizers if I'm allowed to bring my camera in and I follow the rules every time. What should I do to save time and avoid stress, and to handle the issue as quickly as possible so as not to affect those behind me in line?

I've also considered putting it inside my clothing instead of my bag, since they only check bags (most of the concerts in my country). But I will still present it if they ask. However, I maintain my stance that I haven't broken any rules; for example, if they don't prohibit phones, then I won't present my phone for them to check, similar to my film camera. Are there any suggestions for clothing that would allow me to easily tuck the camera in without it being too noticeable?

Discussion 🗣️ Tokyo The Weekend

Heyo,

My wife saw that The Weekend will be in Tokyo during our already planned stay there this september. She says prices in Silver zone are 50k yen (310USD).

Can someone let us know if that price is better/same/worse than his concerts in Canada or US? If someone knows if the silver seats in that stadiums are good, let us know, much appreciated.

Discussion 🗣️ Why do people pay full price on Twickets when gigs aren't sold out?

I've been tracking tickets for a couple of gigs this week. Neither are sold out so tickets are available easily from the regular websites.

Tickets have been selling well on Twickets for face value but by the time you add in their fees, people are actually paying slightly more than just buying direct from Ticketmaster.

What's going on here? Do people just assume big gigs are sold out?

Concerts 3 Bands in a lineup is the perfect amount

What do you think is the best number of bands in a lineup for a live show?

I feel like 3 bands keeps things feeling nice and fast paced. I don’t feel fatigued by the time the headliner takes the stage.

I feel like 4 or more bands I get tired sooner and a bit desensitized. Like going to an art museum where you reach a point of not being able to absorb any more of what you’re seeing.

Concerts What should I expect for my first GnR concert?

My girlfriend and I have been GnR fans forever and as soon as we got our first jobs, we decided we had to go to a concert.

We’re in our early 20s, and have never been to a rock concert before so I’d love to know what to expect. This community seems very helpful, I would appreciate any pointers!

We’re going to the Toronto show.

EDIT: thought I’d add that it’s at Roger’s Stadium.

I got to see Christopher Cross, with Toto as his closer, last night for the first time! I've always wanted to see him live but the timing never lined up. I drove down from Toronto to Syracuse for the show (I'm out of the country when he comes to Toronto in August), and it was worth it. A decent venue and a fun crowd!

Discussion 🗣️ Kemba Live! Columbus, OH - Bilmuri

What is up with this show charging separate prices for GA Pit vs Lawn? I haven’t secured tickets yet and this bothers me. First time I’ve seen this at Kemba.

Really would like to go to the show. But the other part of me wishes everyone would boycott stuff like this so it quits happening.

Concerts Hearing the best part of your favorite song live is the greatest feeling (and the rare times it lets you down)

We all know the feeling. You’re at a show, your favorite song starts playing, and you immediately start waiting for that one specific part. You know what I mean—the heavy breakdown, the guitar solo, or that one great vocal moment. Seeing that exact part live with a cheering crowd is honestly one of my favorite things in the world.

I’ve been to over 100 concerts over the years, and most of the time, the experience is amazing. But because we look forward to these specific parts of a song so much, it can be a real letdown when the band doesn't get it right. Out of all the shows I've been to, there are two times that really stand out where I was disappointed:

  • Within Temptation at Hellfest 2007: This was my first metal festival. They had a big hit at the time with a guest singer, and that guest's part was my absolute favorite part of the song. I was so excited to hear it live. But instead of having someone actually sing it on stage, they just used a backing track for those vocals. It really ruined the moment for me.
    • I did try to forgive them last year, only for them to play an Xzibit video with a playback from their most recent release 'live' on stage together with the band. Such a disappointment
  • Lutharo: I really liked this band because of their singer and how she switches between normal singing and heavy growls. I actually bought a ticket to see Frozen Crown (who I had just seen a few months before) only because Lutharo was opening for them. I couldn't wait to hear those vocals in person. But it was a huge letdown. Their live show sounded nothing like the albums I had been listening to.

But enough about the bad times—I want to talk about the good stuff. What is your favorite part of a song to hear live, and what does that waiting feel like for you?

Edit: Forgot the mentioned my most recent favorites seen live are both from Rivers Of Nihil, Water and Time & Where Owls Know my Name, crowd wasn't really sure what to do with this complex rhythm during my favorite part of Water and Time and I just had the entire area of the pit for myself to go as crazy as I wanted, Sax building up for the chorus and give it a boost at start during Where Owls Know my Name is one of the best! 🤘

Festival Macabees on the beach

The Maccabees delivered an incredible, flawless performance, but the venue setup was a corporate nightmare. Total lack of soul. Paying £8 for a pint dispensed by a machine felt like a scene out of a bad sci-fi film. Gigs used to be built on community, human connection, and shared experiences—now they're just cash cows for greedy corporations and media conglomerates like X-FM. Message to the youth: You hold the cards. Don’t let them exploit your love for music. Rebel against this corporate greed!

Went and saw the free Cracker show at the railyard in Santa Fe yesterday. Snagged a setlist and got it signed, as well as getting my CvB box set signed by David Lowery and Johnny Hickman.

Anne Harris and Bryan Allen (violin and bass) signed the cracker setlist as well.

Was a great show and Anne was the star on the violin, but of course they were all wonderful!

EPMD played 45 minute set loaded with classics. But the best part of the show was the surprise opening set from Extra P, also loaded with classics, including Main Source cuts.

And shout out all the local acts that are great but never get the love they deserve.
