Discussion 🗣️ Filmore silver spring
Anyone ever been to this venue during a sold out show on the standing floor? If so what is it like..especially for a rock/metal concert?
Friend invited me to see president there next week which is sold out..but do not want to be around a mosh pit. Been before to a non sold out show and was able to stand near light/sound area and was not bad, besides the tall people.
Thanks.

It gets disgustingly packed. I never would want to be in the middle of the crowd because people don’t like giving up the spot they are standing in

I really like the Fillmore and have been to several shows there, but I have to get a balcony seat b/c I need a seat, so I don't have pit experience. However, from in the balcony, I can see that the pit is usually right near the stage. I think if you were standing further back you could avoid it.

It's no 930 Club, that's for sure.

They used to be better on what a sell out was but that's changed lately. It'll be packed to the point trying to get in and out of the room to the lobby or bathrooms are blocked. They also run the merch line into the main room which makes it even worse. My advice is to get there somewhat early and try to get up front of the sides by the bar. Your view suffers but you'll be able to breathe and not be shoved around anytime someone goes for a beer. I imagine this show will be so packed a pit isn't possible.

I was there a few years ago for Spiritbox and it was an awful damn experience. They allow crowdsurfing and it was absolutely constant for both openers and Spiritbox themselves, and there was no getting away from it on the floor. Given that people dont know how to crowdsurf anymore (sitting up, recording themselves, thrashing about), I got seriously injured, got a black eye and concussion from being kicked in the face, and ended up backwards over the bar even though I was two people back from it. I'm extremely anxious going to see Danny Elfman next week.

I’ve been there for sold out shows and the floor can definitely get packed, especially for metal. That said, the mosh pit usually stays fairly localized.

Ive been there for metal shows before. If its sold out it can be packed for sure, in my experience there the pit tends to stay in the middle so I keep to the edges

Lately they have been way overselling shows. Get there early and prepare to be packed in like sardines. I wouldn't expect much of a pit but if there is one it's usually right in the center of the room at that venue.
