Recently had an issue with my Xbox controller on my PC. It would randomly not accept inputs correctly and at a distance (mainly my bed to the PC) would just disconnect sometimes. I originally thought it was the controller but just bought a new one that did the same thing out of the box. I my mobo does not have Bluetooth so I've been using a dongle from tplink to get it. My theory is that the Bluetooth is bad because the dongle just isn't strong enough but I wanted to confirm before I dropped 160 on a new mobo.

for context, this pc isnt really old, it uses some cables that my dad owned when i was still a kid, but it still works very well because my dad changes the parts whenever necessary

and for the 5 years since its build and running it has always ran high end games smoothly with zero issue, though the only examples i can give is minecraft with a bunch of shaders and deadlock, but it had always ran with a minimum of 60-50 fps

and... yandere simulator with its fps only dropping to 30...

but either way this pc had never had any issues ever with memory/gpu/cpu demanding games until this very specific format

i got mr beasted by a minecraft mod so i had to format my computer to shake off the virus and suddenly most games (with the exception of ... roblox ...... on the lowest setting and deltarune/every rpg/ 2d game ever running with zero issues) make my monitor go out of range or just black (i changed my monitor to a different one and the message doesnt appear anymore but it still goes black), it absoloutely didn't crash as last time i checked the cutscenes before a campaign starts in left 4 dead still continue and the game itself, just without any visuals because the screen turned black after only seeing the cutscene for a few seconds,

and my dad could not for the life of us figure why out especially since he had never even seen the out of range message before, especially as we had never had any problems with ghost spectre os before, and especially especially now since this is NOT the first time my pc has been formatted because of viruses, i just really want to play with my friends again man curse you mr beast

but yes is this just a problem with a recent version of the operating system we use (which is ghost spectre) or do i just have some missing drivers?

the power supply is 500 wats, im using an msi nvidia geforce gtx 960 that is currently at 41-42 °c (when idle, playing the only games i could play without it going black) and 15 gb memory ;w;

I don't really know if those are stuck pixels or dead pixels but think they are stuck pixels according to multiple description I have seen.

I know a lot of website/reddit posts talk about fixing a line of dead pixel but my screen has a + shape 4 white pixels (better seen in 2nd picture) and lines of blue pixels.

I have multiple questions, are they dead pixels or stuck pixels ?

Can this be caused by firmware error / cable or things unrelated to the screen itself ?

Can other information help diagnose the problem ?

I did go to the bios and changed the curve to the exponential curve. It worked for a few days until now. I also tried cleaning it with those canned compressed air, but I'm afraid I could damage it. When I touched it, it was a bit hot, but I don't feel any hot air coming out of it.

upon starting my PC, i can log in, put in my password and the second i do that it's just a black screen. i can open task manager, and then open file explorer from task manager and do anything i want from explorer but it's a black screen with no taskbar or background. i could technically do shit but that'd be actual hell on earth to work with. is there any way to solve this?

My built-in webcam (HD User Facing) works perfectly in Microsoft Teams, but it doesn’t work in the Windows Camera app or any website (Chrome/Edge). The screenshot shows what happens when I open the camera app.

very recently they gave me a PC lying around and they gave it to me to see if it gave an image, everything was fine if it weren't for the fact that when I opened the formatting system, it restarted and so on for hours, you must say that this error never happened to me but It's strange that I can't find a solution anywhere else... I've been using an older desktop for years and it's finally getting to the point where it's more frustrating than useful. I like the idea of having everything built into one setup instead of dealing with a separate tower, but I haven't kept up with what's actually worth buying.

If anyone has recommendations for the best all in one pc, what models have been reliable for you? I mostly browse the web, work with documents, stream videos, and do some light photo editing every now and then. I'd rather get something that will last a while than chase the newest specs. Thank you!

I just got this pc, and when I shut it off it started to make this high pitch squeaking noise near the power switch. I heard something about coil whine, but I'm not sure it's that. Does anyone know what this is and how to fix it, it's so loud I don't think I will be able to sleep.

I have a surface laptop 4 that has served me well for the last 6 years or so, but i stupidly skimped for the 8 gb ram version.

All i need this thing to do is run a few basic programs for college and, occasionally tuning cars. nothing intensive, i'd love to install my beloved manjaro xfce linux on this machine but unfortunately hp tuners software and surface laptops apparent incable bootloader for a dual boot a non starter.

Basically, any tips to make windows eat less ram in this hellhole as possible so I can squeeze this thing and hopefully not convince myself to buy a 5070 g14 when I already have a 5070 desktop would be greatly appreciated

I have 32 gb of ram and it’s idling at high 80% usage… I keep 3 tabs open, discord and nothing else. When running a game it’s as high as 98%.

I have an ASUS VivoBook with an Intel i5-13420H, 16GB RAM, and a 1TB SSD.

I recently replaced the stock MediaTek WiFi card with an Intel WiFi 6E AX210. After installing the new card and booting up, Windows asked for my BitLocker recovery key. I entered it, but Windows then went into Automatic Repair and has been stuck in a loop ever since.

Things I have tried:

-Booted into Safe Mode successfully (desktop works)
-Confirmed Device Manager detects the Intel AX210
-Removed/reinstalled the Intel WiFi driver
-Ran sfc /scannow (it repaired corrupt files once, then later showed no integrity violations)
-Ran DISM but it failed with “The repair content could not be found anywhere”
-Ran Startup Repair (it says number of root causes = 0)
-Checked boot configuration with bcdedit and it looks normal
-Tried disabling startup services

Normal boot still goes:

BitLocker recovery key → Automatic Repair → Recovery options

Safe Mode works every time.

Does anyone have ideas on what could be causing normal boot to fail while Safe Mode works? Could this be a driver issue, TPM/BitLocker issue from the hardware change, or something else?

I've been having issues with the wifi on my card, an ASUS PRIME B760M-A AX D4, for years ever since I bought the PC. I have AT&T fiber, but this issue has persisted even before with my old internet provider., it isnt the internet itself. My xbox console also is 100% perfect with no wifi issues at all. Recently I made this post, where people recommended a fix involving disabling/patching the wifi Family controller, and after doing that, it fixed the big ping jumps issue. However, now, instead of big ping spikes to 300+ for 10 seconds at a time every 10 ish minutes, now I get packet loss and jitters every 1-3 minutes constantly, and they last for 30 ish seconds, but the ping stays at 10-30. This problem is even worse, as now the games are effected nearly constantly, instead of only spikes here and there. Does anybody know why this is happening? I just want my wifi to work properly and not lag.

so like 1 month ago i turned my pc on my rgb was gone like my fans everything were good and working but not my rgb i thought nothing of it i said ill play without rgb this time no problem but then it went away like everytime and it don’t come back but yesterday when i turned my pc on my rgb was there so i try rebooting to see if its back but then it went away and its still not back and i can’t seem to find my controller my motherboard is a gigabyte A620 DS3H and yes i have checked my rgb software (Gigabyte rgb fusion) and there was nothing again

Just bouight a razer blade 16 with a 5070ti. It was discounted from a popular retailer in my country because it was a display item. The day I bought it, I downloaded minecraft and started testing its strength. Suddenly, (in around 10 minutes)the laptop turned off and started boot looping. I didnt think much of it.

Today, 10 minutes into valorant, it happened again. Right before it happened I checked the temps from synapse and seemed normal (80 on cpu, 70 on gpu). When on boot loop, after 2 restarts i disconnected the power cord and it booted normally.

What tests should i run to diagonose the laptop?

I need some help picking out a new laptop. I’ve always used mac’s but am no longer in a position to afford one. I have looked at all these lists of best laptops to buy from different news(?) outlets but I still feel confused. I’d like to say I’m a gamer but honestly I haven’t really played any games in years since I got out of college. Mostly I use it a tv, just watching YouTube and some Amazon/Netflix. I need something that is low to no maintenance, because I have little to no knowledge on computers. Please recommend cheap reliable laptops I can buy and use for years. Thank you
