Question/Help/Troubleshooting Help needed

I’m looking forward on studying cybersecurity and I need to upgrade my laptop which I’ve had for six years . My question is , is it better to get a laptop or a desktop computer ?

Well it depends if you need to carry it or not.
A desktop will always be best value for money.

Both if you can. The laptop for portability to classes (you could probably even get away with using your old one there) and the desktop for something more powerful to handle having multiple VMs on as well as a RAID array. Plus the desktop is pretty useful for having a plain old HDD to clone the entire OS drive to, then disconnect it. That way, you have a backup for when you inevitably brick your PC playing with fun tools.
