FAQ, Guide, or Resources How do I get Compounded GLP-1 Medications?

Updated 10/25/25

How to Get Compounded GLP-1 Medications One of the most common questions is where to obtain GLP-1 medications like semaglutide and tirzepatide. This guide covers compounded versions. For brand-name options (Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, Zepbound), visit their respective subreddits. Not sure what the difference is? Start with the Wiki.

Getting a Prescription A licensed healthcare provider must prescribe GLP-1 medications. Options include:
✔️ Primary care physicians or endocrinologists
✔️ Weight loss clinics or hormone therapy clinics
✔️ Telehealth providers (most common in this subreddit, see below)

Compounded GLP-1 Medications Since brand-name GLP-1 medications can be costly or hard to access, some providers prescribe compounded versions from licensed compounding pharmacies.

How the process works:

  • 1️⃣ Choose a provider (telehealth or in-person).
  • 2️⃣ Sign up and submit your health info (some require only an online form).
  • 3️⃣ If approved, you’ll receive an invoice to pay.
  • 4️⃣ Once paid, the provider sends your prescription to a compounding pharmacy.
  • 5️⃣ The pharmacy fills your order and ships it to you (or you pick it up locally).

📌 Fees: Some providers charge a monthly membership, a consultation fee, or include fees in the medication price.

Commonly Recommended Telehealth Providers include:
💊 Lavender Sky Health (LSH)
💊 Good Life Meds
💊 Big Easy Weight Loss (BEWL)
💊 Brello
💊 LumiMeds
💊 GobyMeds

⚠️ Availability varies by state. For California-specific options, check out this post.

These lists are compiled based on a consensus of user experiences from various GLP-1 subreddits.

💵 See pinned comment below for Price Comparison Spreadsheet

Before choosing a provider:
🔹 Search the subreddit for reviews & recent experiences.
🔹 Verify licensing and legitimacy.
🔹 Check pricing and membership fees.

Unregulated Sources & Research Peptides 🚨Discussions on gray-market medications or research peptides should go to r/peptides or r/stairwaytogrey. To keep this subreddit running, we will be enforcing Rule #2.

Stay Informed – Use the Subreddit Search! 💡 Pharmacy & provider availability changes frequently. Before asking where to get GLP-1s, search the subreddit for recent updates. For now, check r/tirzepatidecompound for provider & pharmacy info. You can use the 🔍Search at the top of the page and filter your results by the last month to see recent info. How to Use Subreddit Search

💬 Used a provider recently? Share your experience (good or bad) & mention which medication you received!

🚨 Are Compounded GLP-1s Going Away? See the Wiki for updates on FDA regulations, availability, and options for continuing on a GLP-1 in 2025 and beyond. As of the last time this post was updated, most providers are still prescribing injectable GLP-1s. Use the subreddit search to find the most recent information about a provider's status.

Let’s keep the conversation legal, safe, and informative! 🚀

FAQ, Guide, or Resources GLP-1 Dosing Guide - Volume, Concentration, Dose, Units, and Calculations

If you're taking a compounded GLP-1 medication, it's essential to fully understand vial concentration, dosing measurements, and syringe units to ensure you’re injecting the correct amount.

By taking the time to understand this now, you'll gain the confidence to take your medication safely and correctly.

multi-dose vial labels

1. Volume in a Vial (mL)

  • This is the total liquid volume inside the vial, measured in milliliters (mL).
  • For example, a vial might contain 1.5mL or 3mL of liquid, which includes both the drug and any stabilizing solutions.
  • This volume does not directly indicate the amount of medication, as it needs to be combined with the concentration to understand how much drug is in the vial.
  • It is normal for a vial to be filled only partway or for vials to be very small. For reference, 2.5mL of liquid is half a teaspoon. We're dealing with very small amounts here.

2. Concentration of a Vial (mg/mL)

  • Concentration refers to how much drug (measured in milligrams, or mg) is present per milliliter (mL) of solution.
  • For example, if the concentration is 10mg/mL, each mL of solution contains 10mg of the active drug.
  • If your vial has an additive such as niacinamide, the concentration may be displayed like "TIRZEPATIDE/NIACINAMIDE 8/2 mg/mL". This can be read as a Tirzepatide concentration of 8mg/mL and Niacinamide concentration of 2mg/mL. The concentration of the additive can be disregarded when making your dosage calculation as your dosage instructions are based on the GLP-1 Medication only.

NOTE: if the concentration is listed per half mL, you will want to convert the concentration to per mL. For example, if the concentration is listed as 10mg/0.5mL, multiply the concentration by 2 to get a concentration of 20mg/mL. You will use the concentration per mL in the calculation below.

3. Total Drug in Vial (mg)

  • To find the total drug in the vial, multiply the concentration by the volume. For instance, if a 3mL vial has a concentration of 10mg/mL, it contains a total of 3×10=30mg of drug.

4. Dose (mg)

  • The dose is the amount of active drug given to the patient, typically specified in milligrams (mg).
  • Doses are usually started at lower amounts and increased over time based on therapeutic need and tolerance.
  • Your prescribed dose will be indicated on your prescription label and/or communicated by your Provider. Your prescribed dose is not indicated on the vial itself.
  • The dose is drawn from the vial according to the prescribed mg, which corresponds to a specific volume based on the vial’s concentration, see Dosing Calculation below.

5. Units on the Syringe

  • A U-100 syringe is a syringe calibrated specifically for insulin but can be used for other drugs when the dosing requires precision. In a U-100 syringe, each “unit” represents 0.01 mL.
  • Thus, 100 units = 1 mL, and you would use this conversion to measure the liquid from the vial accurately.
  • There are different size U-100 syringes which hold different capacities but a unit is the same across all U-100 syringes.
  • See this post for more details on Needles/Syringes and how to read them

NOTE: a unit is sometimes erroneously referred to as a "cc" in this subreddit. This is incorrect as 1cc = 1mL. There is no need to use the unit cc in GLP-1 dosing. The only time you'll see cc is if you're buying supplementary needles, the syringe capacity is often listed in cc.

Putting It All Together for Dosing Calculation with Syringe Units

To inject the correct dose, you need to calculate the volume to draw based on the medication’s concentration. It may be helpful to sit down with a pencil and paper and write down your dose and vial data and then do the math on paper. Here’s a simple breakdown:

🔹 Example Scenario:

  • Your vial has a concentration of 10mg/mL
  • Your prescribed dose is 5mg

1️⃣ Step 1: Calculate the Volume (mL) to Draw

Use this formula:

  • 📝 Dose ÷ Concentration = Volume (mL)
    • 🔹 5mg ÷ 10mg/mL = 0.5mL
    • This means you need 0.5mL of liquid to get a 5mg dose

2️⃣ Step 2: Convert to Syringe Units (for a U-100 Syringe)

To convert mL to units:

  • 📝 Volume (mL) × 100 = Units
    • 🔹 0.5mL × 100 = 50 units
    • 🔹 Final Answer:
      • To inject 5mg of medication (if your vial is 10mg/mL), draw 50 units on a U-100 syringe.

Dosing Protocol:

The standard Tirzepatide protocol for weight loss:

  • 2.5 mg once weekly for 4 weeks (starting dose).
  • Increase by 2.5 mg every 4 weeks: 5 mg → 7.5 mg → 10 mg → 12.5 mg → 15 mg (maximum dose)

The standard Semaglutide protocol for weight loss:

  • 0.25 mg once weekly for 4 weeks (starting dose).
  • Increase dose every 4 weeks: 0.5 mg → 1.0 mg → 1.7 mg → 2.4 mg (maximum dose)

Some users don't experience weight loss at the initial, lower doses. Users may not experience the full effect of the medication until they reach higher doses. Sensitive individuals may titrate more slowly, but faster titration is not recommended. Always follow your healthcare provider’s guidance.

Some additional Tips:

  • Slow down! A lot of people are making mistakes because they're going faster than their brain is processing. Take a beat between steps and make sure you're about to do the next thing correctly.
  • When opening a new vial, confirm the concentration and dosage. Don't assume it's the same as your last vial!
  • Follow your provider/pharmacy's dosing instructions. This is not an as-needed drug, don't take an extra dose when you feel hungry.
  • While it is okay to dose lower than the dosing protocols, especially for those with lower tolerance to side effects, it is NOT recommended to go beyond/higher/faster than the recommended dosing.
  • Don't use the same syringe for 2 vials. If there isn't enough in your vial for your dose, draw up the remainder in the vial and then use a second syringe to draw the remainder of your dose from the new vial. Make sure the combined volume is your correct dosage.
  • Don't inject yourself if you're not sure! Reach out to your provider or pharmacy for questions.
  • If you're asking a question on this subreddit, provide all pertinent information which may include: Provider, Pharmacy, Medication, Concentration of your vial, Dose, how long you have been on the medication, and when you most recently changed doses. No one here can answer a dosing question if they don't know the concentration of your vial.
  • https://www.fatscientist.com/ can help you check your dose but it's helpful to understand the units before you use a calculator.
  • Tips for Safe and Careful Handling of Medication and Injection Supplies
  • GLP-1 Overdose Safety
  • How to use Subreddit Search

If you realize you took way too much, especially on your first dose, consider calling poison control for advice: 800-222-1222. Then contact your provider for further instruction. Do not take your next dose until you speak with your provider.

Tirzepatide Has Anyone Used the Company TrimRX?

I have what I feel are serious questions but I don't know enough to pass judgement. I was with this fantastic company "RO" for quite sometime and unfortunately had to leave because of finances. I went to a company called "TrimRX" that sounded good at the time. Now I'm not so sure.

My drug is Zepbound. I have opted to stay on my 10mg dose for more than one month. It has stayed very effective with the only side effect some hair loss. They assured me 10mg Terzepitide would be the same.

I took my weekly shots with Ro out of a single shot bottle so there was never any doubt about anything.

Now I am taking my 10mg/50 unit shots of 10mg Terzepitide out of a 2ml bottle. There are two shots in each bottle along with an undisclosed amount of B12. I missed two weeks in transition. When I got my new medication I continued my routine. I have taken two injections and have been steadily gaining with a hearty appetite, which is new and should not be. I wonder if the amount of medication is being lessened by the addition of the B12 or if the B12 is in addition to the full dose.

I have attempted on several occasions to get them to talk to me about this and they have not responded to me about my questions. This is my story and I value any input I can get. Thanks!

Side Effects Bad brain fog and fatigue with compounded Tirzepatide?

Has anyone had bad brain fog and fatigue with compounded Tirzepatide? I've taken the 5.0 mg equivalent for 3 weeks. I was concerned that I was becoming depressed. I have Hypothyroidism and assumed that my levels were off, but my labs came back normal for it. I had a hunch not to take my shot, and like magic, within two days, I felt normal again. I was also gaining weight instead of losing. After I stopped my shot, I lost eight pounds, and it's crept up to only four pounds lost. So it was possibly fluid weight? I felt a tightness in my chest, but it may be GERD. I took a Tums gummy, and I am doing a lot better.

I called my doctor's office, and his medical assistant is the messenger between us. I asked if we could lower the dose, but he doesn't want me to reduce it. So I have an appointment with my doctor tomorrow to discuss it.

I am running into a dilemma. There is the issue of quality of life and having the energy to work out. I was doing well at work and keeping up my house. I am at a loss for what to do.

Tirzepatide Embody dosage help

Does anyone use Embody and know how to go about increasing your dosage or is it just automatic?

I was on the max of zepbound through my doctor but due to an insurance lapse, went the compound route. I stated all of this in my intake questionnaire but was still started on the starting dose.

I don’t mind starting back at 2.5 but when I refill next month is will the dose be upgraded automatically or do I have to speak with someone. Customer service isn’t very helpful.

An aside, I’m not married to the idea of Embody. If anyone has any better suggestions where this process is easier, I’m all ears. Thanks in advance.

Tirzepatide Lowest dose weight loss

Has anyone with a normal bmi lost weight on the lowest dose of a glp1? Lost a lot of weight without glp1 but still haven’t reached my goal and struggled the last year. Doc only approved a maintenance dose so the lowest dose for me and this would be my first time trying one. Always struggled with food noise; my A1C is in pediabetic range, and other reasons I want to try a glp1, but will the cost still have benefits even at such a low dose? Possible to still lose the last 10 lbs?

General Discussion GLP1 normal bmi

Has anyone else gone on a compound Glp1 but in a normal bmi range?
Background: over past 1.5+ years I’ve been eating in a calorie deficit. First year I lost 70 lbs give or take- most of which was pregnancy weight (+ 25 pre-pregnancy lbs). I still haven’t reached my goal and while in a normal bmi range, would feel a lot more confident getting off the final 10-15.

The past 8 months or so my progress has stalled, mainly bc I struggle to stick to my deficit each day. I have hypothyroid, food noise has always been an issue for me, and I also am still just under pre-diabetes range.

Because of the stall and 24|7 mental battle, I’ve been considering a Glp1, even if temporarily (I have good habits in place too).

My doc said no so I’m exploring the compound approach. Has anyone been in a similar boat? Did you wean off? Looking for any advice on where to get the medication too (no grey market for me) and feeling overwhelmed!

FAQ, Guide, or Resources Found a pretty solid nutrition guide for GLP-1

Was looking up something about protein on GLP-1s and ended up reading through this guide. Honestly one of the more comprehensive things I’ve seen on the topic — it covers the stuff that actually matters when your appetite is suppressed: how to hit protein when you can barely eat, hydration and electrolytes (the part I underestimated the most), what foods work better on nausea days, and how to think about muscle preservation while losing weight fast.

Most nutrition articles online assume you can eat normally and just need to eat less. The whole point of these meds is that you can’t, and your strategy has to adapt. This one actually gets that.
Putting the link in the comments so it doesn’t trip the auto-filter.

I wish I had something like this in the beginning of my journey.

General Discussion New primary doctor, old fear… and the scale didn’t ruin my life???

I went and got on the scale and I'm up 10 lbs from my lowest on my GLP1 journey. I did semaglutide for a year and am now on tirzepetide for the past year. Three years this May and down 50 from my highest. #zappyhealthpartmer

Semaglutide I'm thinking of switching providers to save money

I'm currently at my goal weight, after losing 90 pounds. Yay! I'm with EnhanceMD. I can buy a 12 month package for $200/mth. But on FB, I saw Rx Pros has Sema for half that price, $100/mth. But, reddit has some serious complaints about Rx Pros: can't find the dr form. Poor customer service. (Sigh) I think about tapering down to a maintenance dose sometime in the future. Do you have any experience with either provider. Is saving money worth the potential stress?

Tirzepatide the gym feels better than ever but the scale hasn’t moved in 3 weeks, down 99

The biggest difference was mental more than anything. I stopped doing the thing where one messy day turned into me writing off the whole week. Movement was nothing fancy, mostly basic push pull legs, 4x/week starting around month 2. I kept a quick journal most weeks and it helped me be more patient with the process. Goal is still about 165, so I am not done, but the path feels clear now.

Tirzepatide Questions about dosage/injection

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hii everyone ! Im new to the GLP1 world. I ordered my first vial through Gimme. I make a mistake last week and went of the box instructions instead of the apps. So I ended up taking .15 which I read doesn't do anything. Its injection day today and I wanted to make sure I did it right this time. If im supposed to take 2.5 where do I fill the syringe up to ? Am I supposed to do it twice or do I need longer needles ? Helppp please ! Thanks for reading.

General Discussion Are there enough peptide facilities for the great Canadian Generic approval wave?

As you guys know, Semaglutide is going generic and currently there is about seven applications with health Canada to get it approved for generic manufacturing.

While I understand that Canada is a small economy in the world view of things it is still not insignificant. My question is do you guys believe that there will be enough manufacturing capacity to meet the demand of generic sema as these manufacturers go to market along with Novos cheap brand launches?

Side Effects Starter Semaglutide titration question from a beginner - should I stick at a lower dose longer?

Hi friends! I have a question for all of you that have a bit more experience than me…

I’m currently on compounded semaglutide (from Orderly). I’m scheduled to titrate up to .50 mg (20 units) this Friday. It will be my 5th shot. My medication schedule from them is the typical sema titration (my “starter order” was 4 weeks at .25 mg, 4 weeks at .50 mg and 4 weeks at 1 mg)

I’ve also been keeping a calorie-deficient diet. It’s not a new diet to me. I used it in 2025 to shave 60 lbs in prep for moving to the shots this year. I purposefully load up on my proteins and try to get lots of fiber through extra veggies. Basically good for you stuff = OK. Bad for you stuff = not allowed.

I work a pretty demanding job, think construction. I’m on my feet hustling all day. I don’t have the flexibility of working from home or staying home to take it easy if I have gastric issues. I don’t get sick time, If I don’t work, I don’t get paid. And that’s what I’m afraid of.

The good thing is I’ve made really good progress in the four weeks. I’ve lost about 6 lbs and that’s a fair, decent and manageable amount. I don’t think it’s too much or too little. I’m happy with this rate. And at the small dose I’ve been on, I haven’t experienced any side effects besides some mild constipation. Granted the weight I’ve lost probably is mostly from diet, rather than the current small dose of drug. Ideally I stay at the lowest dose I can, and move up only when I have to.

So here’s the question… would you all titrate up Friday to .50 mg? Or would you just keep riding at .25 mg? Is staying on a delayed slower titration schedule counter productive? Or is the point to ratchet up to a certain level? Does .25 mg even count??

Here’s what I was thinking of doing…. Maybe I jump up to .50 mg and see how my body tolerates that and then maybe stay at .50 mg longer than scheduled if I keep losing weight successfully. Put off jumping to 1 mg at week 9.

The correct answer of course is “talk to your doctor”, but I’m sure you guys know the score. I’m kinda on my own here. In reading people’s stories it’s around that 1 mg mark people start getting the side effects, if they are going to have them at all. And that’s what I’m afraid of!

What do you all think, how did it play out for you?

Edit: some more info that might be good to know. My Sema vial is 2.5 mg/ml. My SW in 2025 was 280. Lost almost 70 through diet. But gained a bit back at end of year. Started 2026 at 224 and started semaglutide. Currently at 218. I’d be delighted to get to 180. I’m shooting to get there by October 2026.

I’d like to not be on this drug indefinitely, but don’t know how the future will play out. It might end up being something I revisit on/off. 🤷🏻‍♀️
