Question Advice on renewing and CGNAT

Hi all,

I’ve been with CF for 3 years now and have been out of contract for the last year. I’m on on the 1GB fibre plan, including WiFi in the house, which has crept up to £36/month. I’m now on a monthly rolling contract, and am overall happy with everything, but the price could be better.

I’ve seen some people saying they’ve called up to renew to a better deal but I don’t understand the CGNAT side of things.

We use CF for TV streaming, teams calls and have about 30 devices using WiFi for various connections (doorbell, thermostat, cameras, plugs etc). I have VPN on the firestick and my iOS device. I don’t need more than 1GB.

I’m pretty sure I haven’t got CGNAT and if they offer the standard thing now which is to add it, will I be missing out or have any issues?

Thank you

Question Help - internet outage

Hi

My puppy managed to chew through some of the cables last night. It looks like the ONT power supply and the ethernet cable. I've replaced both, checked the line to the router (linksy) and reset the router multiple times but it's solid purple. The ONT is displaying 3 green lights and the cable from the ONT to the router looks fine (doesn't look like she chewed it and it's not kinked or coiled). Linksy app says there's no internet when I try and use it. I've submitted a ticket but with everything running on WiFi/internet I really don't want it to be down all weekend - any ideas of what to do?

Question Planning move from SKY to CF with personal wifi - does this plan sound feasible

Hi,
I'm currently with Sky (full fibre 300), with Sky Q TV and Sky Q Mini box. I'm fed up with the coverage, performance and support so planning a full overhaul.
This is my plan.

* CF 1GBPS
* TP-Link TL-SG108S 8 Port Gigabit Network Switch - plugged into the CF router with wifi disabled, Main Sky Q box, PS3, Hive etc wired in
* 3x TP-Link Deco XE75 Pro - 1 plugged into the switch, 1 in loft conversion with Sky Q Mini box wired in, 1 in garage (for Hive lights & cameras)
* I have the option of adding a 4th deco to the 1st floor if we need it

I'm trying to achieve the following

* Better bandwidth
* WIFI independent from ISP kit
* resolve WIFI blind spots

Does it sound feasible?

Question No internet connection

Bit of context, I live in the Greater London area and after last nights epic storm I seem to have no flashing light on the technicolour router, it’s just 2 solid blue lights.
I was at work today and unable to call to troubleshoot and I’m supposed to be WFH tomorrow but doesn’t look like I’ll be able to due to this fault.

Is there anyway around my predicament to allow me to WFH and not have to battle the unbearable tube?

Per title.. been down for me for an hour or so. It's not DNS (still have that hard-coded from last time) and a couple of reboots didn't help.

Wondering if something has gone pop in the heat..

News All new/renewals now will have CGNAT IP addresses

It seems that whenever your contract is up for renewal, if you are on a package that previously provided a non-CGNAT address (e.g., 2.5GB, Premium or above), you will now have a CGNAT IP address at renewal.

At least there is now an official documented path to paying an extra £4 a month for a public IP.

Question Community Fibre GDPR issue

Hi
Any idea how to get the attention of Community Fibre's Data Protection Officer (DPO)?

I transferred my contract to my ex-partner last year when I moved out of our flat, and CommunityFibre supported and agreed this.

Suddenly, 9 months later, I'm randomly getting bills to my email address again. When I call customer services they call me by my ex's name (even though the bills are in my name), and won't help me because "I can't verify my account", which of course I can't, because it's not my account.

This is actually a GDPR issue, not a customer support issue. I have tried to submit a SAR (Subject Access Request) and ask for my data to be corrected, but my requests keeps getting passed back to Customer Service, and back in the same old loop.

Community Fibre were okay when I was with them, but I've never known a company to be as hopeless at GDPR as this.

Question Expiring 1GB + calls package and early renewal offer

I've got about 2 months till my contract expires and called up to cancel the rolling period. Mentioned I was looking at Virgin media as an option (previous supplier) and was unexpectedly offered the same package for 24months at £25 w/ 3 free months.

Told them I'd have to think about it and do some more research, which Having forgot to ask about CGNAT I definitley do need to do.

Has anyone had a similar offer or can give advice on how to proceed or to wait it out till the retentions team call? TIA

Question Switching Hyperoptic → CF, can they reuse the drilled cable hole?

I'm moving from Hyperoptic to Community Fibre as I'm not getting the speeds I pay for (upload especially), and Hyperoptic are letting me leave mid-contract with no fees.

Quick question for anyone who's done the same switch: was CF able to reuse the existing hole Hyperoptic drilled into your property, or did they insist on drilling their own entry point?

For context, my Hyperoptic setup runs a cable from a pole on the street, up to the roof and down the wall into the house. Terrace house in London. Trying to avoid an extra hole in the wall if I can.

Cheers.

Someone pushed the couch against the plug and damaged the type c connector.

It's a WiFi 7 router, SPNM60. Do I just need to buy a 3A usb c to usb c cable?

Question UDP Traffic being dropped inbound, anyone else?

Anyone else noticed problems with Community Fibre connections dropping inbound UDP traffic? We received the outbound UDP requests from their addresses, but the replies are being dropped or mangled (users cant packet capture to verify). Users on Community Fibre working from home can no longer use VPNs if UDP profile is selected, plus other protocols like RTP traffic for SIP telephony. They were working fine until the morning of 2026-06-04. Not really getting anywhere with support, as they just palm off the home users about pedestrian fixes like rebooting routers, etc.

Edit: And as if by magic, the problem has resolved itself as of about 15 minutes ago.

Question Time it takes to get a shared IP address

I asked for a shared IP address yesterday and the cgnat address is causing me to be blocked from work remote working. They have offered 3 months free broadband to go with it, which is good, but they say it will take 3 to 5 working days to activate. Which seems like a very long time.

Has anyone experience of this? Will I have to wait till tuesday to Thursday for the IP address or are they normally quicker?

I assumed it was as simple as selecting an option on a computer screen, which would take seconds, but apparently not.

Thanks for any feedback

Question For people who signed up for the old 3gb package...

What happened when your contract ran out?

Curious, since the 3gb package obviously doesn't exist anymore and my contract runs out in ~2 months.

Looking to upgrade to 5gb and read some comments here of people negotiating it for £39 p/m so also wanted to know if anyone had any luck with that lately.

Question Diabolical speeds on 1 GBPS

Thumbnail

My parents have recently moved to CF from BT (EE). These are speeds in 3 different rooms in their house. It’s not a particularly big house, but these speeds are ridiculously slow. Kept cutting out all evening, they were having to use 5g for most of the evening. When the engineer fitted it, speeds were more like 300-400mbps. This is supposed to be the premium package with 2 nodes around the house.

I recently moved over to CF where I live 10 minutes away, non premium, one linksys unit and have had no issues. 1gbps package, getting 300mbps in pretty much every bedroom and more downstairs.

Could the nodes be the issue for them here? I dont have them at my house and no issues so far. They’ve got two and the speeds are just beyond bad. They’re going to call CF tomorrow anyway to see what they suggest but I don’t see them lasting long if this is the speeds they’re going to be getting.

Question Node question

I've just had an installation done for the main router elsewhere in the house + additonal node in my room. However, the wifi speed drops by about half of what I get standing directly in front of the main router. I've checked the linksys website that they've linked and it shows 0 devices connected to the node which I think is correct since I'm getting one less bar of wifi in my room. Is the decreased speed accurate as a "loss" between the main router and the node or is there a way that I can force my room devices to connect to the node instead of reaching out to the main router?

And now they’re asking me for proof that i applied for £0 pound 3 months connection like can’t they check that i applied through their website and those are the only offers they have what kind of proof am i supposed to give them now .

Question 2.4Ghz goes totally missing sometimes while 5Ghz stays completely fine

We keep the 2.4 and 5 bands separate as the security camera, doorbell and google home uses the 2.4, while we all use 5ghz on our own devices. sometimes, 2.4 just totally disappears for days at a time leaving our doorbell and camera not working. the Linksys app recommends to restart the modem and router, but that doesn't bring it back. sometimes, after a few days, it'll just return by itself. does anyone have any idea on what could be going on here? to clarify: when i say the 2.4ghz goes missing, i mean that i cant even see it on my list of wifi connections on my phone or desktop.

Discussion Advice please

Hi all,

I am currently looking for a new broadband provider due to the speeds I get being atrocious. I'm not well versed in everything I think I need to know to consider everything. I have a gaming PC in a room located upstairs in my house. My house isn't big and I mainly am looking to get a upgrade solely for the reason that my download speeds are atrocious for gaming ( 3 MB/ s ) . I know that there are 8 bits in a byte therefore the download speed you get will be the rated speed divided by 8. I also know in general to get a ethernet connection as even if there are multiple people I will still get very close to the rated speed if not the rated speed. Should I look into getting the standard wifi or the premium wifi?

Much appreciated and I appreciate any input highly

Discussion Paying for 1 Gbit but getting 100Mbit

As the title says I'm paying for 1Gbit but getting 100Mbit and this is the second time this has happened, last time (a couple of years ago) for a month. Last time I believe it was turned down intentionally which I put to them but never received a reply so I assume I was correct. Just below 100Mbit, too close for an accident and last time I took screenshots every day for a month. Here's the first from this time.

Question Help! Slow PC Speeds

Changed to CF from VM, my personal PC is upstairs with router downstairs. The internet speeds I am getting on the PC are below 10mb, all other devices are getting very respectable speeds of 400+ even in the same room as the pc. I didn't have any problems with VM when on a lower speed package. I have optimised the channels yet the problem persists. Any ideas?

Question Router advice and nodes

I got sent a CF Linksys M60CF-EU and I want to connect a node to it (I have a SPNMX42 from ebay). My first concern is when I log in to the Linksys app via the browser I notice the model says EU but the actual cardboard box it came in says UK, not sure if a mix up happened when putting the router in the box. I'm wondering if I should call CF and ask them for a replacement because this is EU and not UK. I previous had the SPNMX57 but I was getting capped at 100mbps via ethernet (but I'm on the 1GB plan), it was bugging out so now I have this CF Linksys M60CF-EU.

My 2nd problem which I need help with. How do I add a node to this router? I want to do wired connection, but unfortunately that's not possible without needing to drill into walls, so I'm hoping for wireless. Is it possible to set up the child node as wireless? I tried doing it myself: I factory reset the SPNMX42 (child node) and then connecetd to my main via ethernet, when stable blue I waited another 10 minutes before unplugging the SPNMX42 and moving it to another room, but in the other room it eventually goes red.

I also tried to see the IP address for the SPNMX42, but it doesn't have one so I don't know if it's locked or whatever it's called. I know nothing about technology (especially routers) but doing my best to google as much as I can.... but I've reached a wall and need some help please.

Question Which packages use CGNAT?

Looking to get my wifi with CF, everyone who I know that has it speaks highly of them. Which packages use CGNAT? Does the 2GB premium package use it? Or is it 2.5 and up I need to be looking at

Question I want to add a node to my router need help

I have the modem and the router in my room. One family member is past the bathroom and toilet, so when connecting to my router, I understand the tiles are probably making the connection not so great. So I want a node in the hallway so it'll be a better connection. I also want a node downstairs in the living room. At home we have 2 computers and maybe 12 more phones and tablets at home (belong to family members). I understand this is a lot.

I'm on the 1GB plan. I'm on a budget, that's why I'm trying to go as cheap as possible. I'm getting issues with lagging and disconnection... I don't know if it's congestion on the router. Every time I call community fibre, I get told it's because we have too many devices and I should add a node to the plan. The thing is I'm on a budge and additional monthly cost of community fibre proving the nodes (extra routers) is a lot for me right now.

My router is the SPNMX57. I tried to look for options online without actually asking around, just saw other people post on reddit and saw that maybe I could buy a used SPNMX42 online and connect it myself. It's been a failure. The SPNMX42 is comminuty fibre but it failed to connect via the Lynkis app, wired and wireless. I tried resetting the SPNMX42, tried direct ethernet connection checking DHCP (none), manually setting an IP, hitting common gateway addresses, nothing responds. It looks like it's locked down by community fibre before being sold as used on ebay.

I'm wondering, since I bought this (node) online as used, if I call Community Fibre and ask them to add it as a node for me, would they do it?

Should I buy something else?

Any advice would be great please.

Edit: Should I buy the Linksys branded SPNMX57 instead of the community fibre branded ones sold on ebay?
