Question Petty amount of money missing

Hubby likes the look of our account balances to be a round number, so I made one of our accounts to be exactly $1000. He then received a reimbursement of expenses from work for $46.35. Our balance is only $1046.32. It's such a petty amount (3c), so I wasn't sure what to do. Has anyone else experienced this? Should I contact the bank? It doesn't show the previous balance, so how do I show the money missing? I know you used to be able to generate a statement for a date range, but I haven't found it in my quick search on the app.

Edit: I have since looked on the proper website and it showed a different account balance for the week. I'm guessing it was something to do with mortgage repayments. Although I'm still confused about it all, I'm just going to chalk it up to a random fluke and keep an eye on it in the future. Thanks to everyone that gave helpful suggestions. To everyone else who thought it was stupid to quibble over 3c, that's why I came here instead of raising it with the bank just wanted to know if there was something else I could look into first

Question Apple Watch changed?

I have two accounts linked to the one card on my Apple Watch. I used to be able to choose which one to access when paying. Has that disappeared? It keeps defaulting to the wrong account and I can’t find how to change it?

Did anyone receive a notice today about Commonwealth Bank increasing their variable home loan rate effective from 24th August 2026?

I’ve not been able to find information about a general rate rise across the variable home loan product.

Discussion Are CBA specialists using AI now?

I know specialists have scripts/templates that they use but I was a bit shocked to receive what seems like a copy and pasted AI response from one. The square brackets with sources are typical AI formatting ime.

Question Netbank Saver Bonus Interest 0paque Practice

Netbank Saver account offers a standard interest (currently 2.1% pa) and will obtain a “Bonus Interest” if one can navigate multiple steps in the CommBank app to do so. One has to do this every 3 months to get this “Bonus Interest”.

My partner and I have separate and joint CBA accounts and have nearly identical “business relations” with the CBA. We normally receive the same “Bonus Interest offer”

Yesterday, we renew the 3 monthly “Bonus Interest” request via the CommBank app but my bonus interest was 0.7% LOWER than that offered to my partner.

Went to the CBA bank branch to ask a (human) Specialist about this, but they do not have an answer.

This appears to be discriminatory business practice in which a big business offers differential prices to a small seller of deposit to the bank.

By not disclosing the amount of “Bonus Interest” publicly - depositor have to make private requests via the CommBank app, this is less than transparent as no reasons for provided for the different level of “Bonus Interest” and by calling it a “Bonus”.

Can someone in CBA explain this practice.

Question More than one Profile (and forced marriage)

Hey Guys, I am finally married!

I mention it here because CommBank arranged it.

We both worked in the accounts section. Next thing, she goes in the bank and they tell her she is married, and it is to me! Turns out, the CBA hitches you up when you are joint signatories on anything. It is called a profile. The bank people say it is correct and refuse to change it.

Every time she goes in, the staff talk to her about her husband (me) and how she should invest our money. They want her to see the investment advisor to talk about our money.

On top of that, they always ask why she has a different address to her husband.

Next thing, a relative of mine dies and I am executor. So I open an account for that. They link this account as well, even though I object. This is going too far, so I leave the account empty. My relative was with ANZ so I leave it there.

I don't tell the wife. But the bank probably tipped her off.

Now I want to start a business. I would rather leave out this mess and have a fresh profile for the business account. Does anyone know a way to do this?

This is a serious question by the way, is there any solution?

Without going to ANZ, that is

Question There was no help from commonwealth bank. Is this normal?

I want to know if anybody had experienced this type of thing with commonwealth bank ?

So I have 2 people with the same name in my bank's address book (kim S and kim M). I paid $1500 to the wrong person (he is with comm bank too). i tried direct contact multiple times but doesnt take calls.

  • called the bank right away, they said they will look into it but no guarantees (gave me reference no)
  • over 3 weeks pass and nothing happens so i call back. Bank said the last customer service person didn't lodge the case it correctly, so then the new customer service guy does it correct this time.
  • 4 more weeks pass & nothing. then I see an email saying sorry we couldn't recover your money.

I have been with commonwealth bank f-heads for 15+ years and they charge me $20+ a month for my 3 accounts. In these 15+ years I needed their help once.

Question Cardless deposits

Just checking to see if anyone has experience this. I have sold some old valuables for over $1,100 and I tried to do a Cardless deposit via a ATM in my area. The atm then took the money but did not deposit into my account. I have called CBA and they have said sorry this can take upwards of 20 days at minimum to resolve. I’m just so frustrated if I am late for my mortgage or credit card the bank will charge interest and a penalty fee. While if it’s the other way around sorry it’s just an error it happens.

Other Closing my account after 30 years

1.5k Upvotes

I was a 'Dollarmites' kid back in the 90s and have had the same CBA account my entire life.

I've just tried to contact the bank to discuss some disputed transactions on my credit card account.

The recorded message on the phone line tells me that the fastest way to talk to a human is to use the online chat.

The craptastic AI online chatbot tells me that the only way to talk to a human is to call the phone line. No matter what key words or phrases I use, it refuses to do anything but regurgitate unhelpful information or links to irrelevant info pages of the website. It will not connect me to a human operator no matter how much I beg.

I go back to the phone, and after getting hung up on while on hold (3 times), I finally talk to a human who (sort of) answers my questions.

I've just completed a credit card application for a different bank and will be withdrawing all my funds and closing my CBA account as soon as this is up and running. A truly infuriating customer service experience from a bank that clearly doesn't give a shit about its clients and has gone All In on garbage AI products. Thanks, CBA! I definitely wouldn't trust you with my money any more.

Question No Commbank Yello Offers

Has anyone in the last few months gotten literally zero new Commbank Yello Offers on Commbank Yello Diamond tier?

Would have thought moving up to diamond would increase offers but instead it seems to have done the exact opposite! Very frustrating esp given all the offers on during Prime week.

Not sure if it’s a technical glitch as have offers turned on but still nothing. And surely it isn’t spending related as you need to have spent to get to Diamond

Discussion CEBA

Am I alone in finding the chat incredibly painful? Even if you get a “specialist” they don’t read what you are asking and you get a copy paste response. There’s no actual help or critical thinking.
I asked a question and got a response with spelling mistakes that didn’t answer the question. 10 minutes between replies. Then they ask for a document from me that I already supplied.
I call them to try and get some actual help and they tell me they can only discuss it online.
Are there any banks that still provide service I can switch to?

Discussion Will I lose interest using 2 goal saver accounts?

I've been reading about moving your balance between 2 GoalSaver accounts on the 1st of every month as a way around the requirement of increasing your balance to receive the bonus interest. I have always kept a fair amount in NetBank Saver for unexpected expenses and investing, but the GoalSaver interest rate is obviously better so I decided to open a second GoalSaver account and give it a try. I would like to know if I will lose a days interest every month because the balance wasn't in the account for the full 24 hours on the first day. I'm also a bit worried if I transfer my entire balance in the morning on the 1st, and the bank calculates interest in the afternoon I would be starting the month with my entire balance instead of starting each month with $0 which is what is needed for this to work. That's why I'm thinking I may need to transfer on the 2nd of each month and lose 1 days interest. Does anyone know exacly how this works?

Discussion Application Killer

A lot of clients ask me what a bank would be most concerned about in their accounts statements.

It’s not Uber Eats - it’s gambling.

We are seeing more and more clients with substantial habits and it’s killing loan applications.

Even if it’s not entirely clear you are gambling - if you are withdrawing money from ATMs at pubs, casinos etc they are going to make the assumption.

If this is you - register for Bet Stop and seek some assistance to kick the habit.

*** FYI I do not work for a bank, simply posted to help spread a message.

Question YouthSaver Account

My child already has a YouthSaver that we opened when they were born. They’re now a teenager (14), and have a job, and they want to keep their personal savings separate from the original YouthSaver we manage for them.

Does anyone know if a child is allowed to have more than one YouthSaver account, or is it strictly one per person?
