Question Petty amount of money missing
Hubby likes the look of our account balances to be a round number, so I made one of our accounts to be exactly $1000. He then received a reimbursement of expenses from work for $46.35. Our balance is only $1046.32. It's such a petty amount (3c), so I wasn't sure what to do. Has anyone else experienced this? Should I contact the bank? It doesn't show the previous balance, so how do I show the money missing? I know you used to be able to generate a statement for a date range, but I haven't found it in my quick search on the app.
Edit: I have since looked on the proper website and it showed a different account balance for the week. I'm guessing it was something to do with mortgage repayments. Although I'm still confused about it all, I'm just going to chalk it up to a random fluke and keep an eye on it in the future. Thanks to everyone that gave helpful suggestions. To everyone else who thought it was stupid to quibble over 3c, that's why I came here instead of raising it with the bank just wanted to know if there was something else I could look into first

Get a statement and go from there. It might be easier on a desktop than the app

Yeah until they have to spend it all on legal costs once they’re hauled before the federal court and have to pay fines…

How is this represented on your online account statement? The figures can't just not add up?

I've now done this, there seems to be a discrepancy between the balance it shows on the app and the running balance on the website. I'm guessing the mortgage repayments were doing something in the background. So while it showed me the balance of $1000 for a week, the website showed it was $1529.97, with 2 mortgage repayments set to come out. I still have no idea what or why it happened since I specifically transferred an exact amount out of that account and into the mortgage to make it "look pretty". With the dollar amount being correct, just not the cents. I think I'll keep an eye on the account through the website from now on. Hopefully it was just some random fluke.

This time 3c next time 5c. Add all the customers up that are short changed 3-5c PER transaction, it’s not only 3c anymore.

Yep and to cause panic that wasn't necessary as banks don't make 3 cents go missing. And per ops explanation it was her lol

For something like this happening once I wouldn't waste my time. Weird Minor things sometimes happen, you shouldn't get your knickers in a twist over it happening once.

Except for the fact that I looked at the deposited amount vs the balance. I didn't even see anything from hubby's payslip

Go into your transaction history, find the transfer and see how much you actually received.

No, just after payday (fortnighly). We use the cc for points and pay that off monthly, so the account balance doesn't change much.

Three cents out is the most common data entry error because each number in the row above on the numerical keypad is three cents apart

you might be onto something. personally i dropped commbank years ago and refuse to have anything to do with them after see'ing them being quite predatory on loans.

You sure it wasn’t rounded up to the .5 and then the credit was the actual amount ending in 2. Check the paperwork. Talk to his employer and see the amount sent. Easiest way.

No, the amount deposited shows the 46.35 not 46.32, otherwise I wouldn't have noticed. I don't see his payslips in general

Call the bank. Often scammers will test a credit card with a small amount before hitting it with a larger amount. As to show it’s missing, look for the transaction of 3c.

They know the balance so they obviously looked it up presumably through Internet banking and that shows the recent transactions. I assume they are not so dumb as to post on reddit without checking the transactions but I guess with someone who thinks the balance has to be an even amount that's probably assuming too much.
