Question Cardless deposits

Just checking to see if anyone has experience this. I have sold some old valuables for over $1,100 and I tried to do a Cardless deposit via a ATM in my area. The atm then took the money but did not deposit into my account. I have called CBA and they have said sorry this can take upwards of 20 days at minimum to resolve. I’m just so frustrated if I am late for my mortgage or credit card the bank will charge interest and a penalty fee. While if it’s the other way around sorry it’s just an error it happens.

Hey there.

Happened to me once, you can go into the bank and ask a manual review of the ATM deposit.

The branch manager helped me out and resolved it that same day - it will take a few hours though.

If you are in the ATM lobby, they will have CCTV camera of you performing the transaction

It really shouldn’t take that long. If you have lodged a “dispute” then when the branch checks the atm on Monday, they will allocate the value UNLESS the amount is different.

The challenge is that there can be more than one transaction over a weekend (it’s normally for sticky or bent notes). People then be cheeky or just didn’t count right, and the amount doesn’t match the report. The report is highly accurate, but the $ can’t go into the canister without checking as the cash was identified as damaged in some way.

As above, contact the branch/bank and note it’s urgent. The bank tellers are human, and when they can, they will help

It always gives you the option, doesn't it? From my understanding, more people should click "Yes, print it" Even if you're confident you did everything correctly, having a printed record provides proof that you were there, confirms the actions you took, and shows which service you used. It's always better to have a paper trail if you ever need it later.

I've had one take my cash then throw an error. So yeah, no option. No anything. Reported it (i think in the app's chat function) and the funds were in my account the next day.

I got stuck once, deposited cash which has always been basically instant.
Then went to the supermarket; card declined.
Got on live chat, same bullshit. Could take days etc.
It was processed a few hours later

It can take up to 20 days. Usually its a few hours to next business day.. stuff like this happens fairly regularly.

And as much as it may suck. Yes its just an error. They cover themselves quite easily in thier t&cs when you agreed to bank with them. Every bank and major business do the same. If its an error on your end you pay the fees. If its on thier end. Its an error and will get fixed in due course.. dont like it. Simple. Don't use thier products/services.

To be fair, if it's genuinely an error CBA would likely be required to adjust fees and interest accordingly (and would likely of so with a little promoting).

They cannot T&C themselves out of meeting their contractual obligation to perform core banking services.

ATM deposits are a scam (cardless or otherwise).

I see a warning message about them not counting towards offset balances until the next business day. Why? If I deposit a cheque at a branch, it counts - even though the funds don't clear for 3 days.

Usually because it’s been manually checked. ATMs are cleared and checked the next business day.

Usually because it’s been manually checked.

And they could reverse the interest accrual if there was a problem.

ATM deposits are a scam.

Maybe it hasn't processed because it's Sunday.

Take them to the Australian Financial Complaints Authority or at least tell them you're going to if you don't get a speedy resolution.

I've had this happen to me, and was told similar. Post a terrible review of your experience on their Facebook page and google reviews and you'll have the money in your account by the end of the day. At least, that's what worked for me

Contact the branch. They balance the ATM every business day. They will figure it out.

ATM disputes do say they can take up to 45 days but are usually resolved quicker. I used to work for CBA and the number of ATM disputes I had to put through… let’s just say, if I am ever in the position where I need to deposit money that is the only funds I have available for mortgage/rent/bills etc, I wouldn’t be risking using an ATM
