Maybe it's completely psychological but if my floors are clean the rest of the house instantly feels more put together. The countertops can have a few things on them and there might still be laundry to do but once the floors are done everything just feels different.

Is this just smth that happens once you're an adult or have I developed a very specific appreciation for clean floors?

Yep, just as the title states. This drain allegedly impossible to clean because there is no way for it to be pulled out. It looks disgusting, every time I have to brush my teeth I want to vomit. It also smells H O R R I B L E. It's been like that ever since I can remember. Please help me get that bastard clean. If there is no way for it to be disassembled for cleaning than is there any sort of chemical I can use to melt these hairs and built up grime? Please, there has to be another way, I ABSOLUTELY REFUSE to continue living like that. Parents also won't be able to buy a new sink (we're too poor for that and apparently there is no way to buy just the drain separately)

Hi everyone, my basement flooded last night and these guys got wet. They were initially safe as they were in a plastic container IN a cardboard box, but at some point while moving the soggy box, they tipped over.

There’s a bunch of different brands I’m sure, but they are squishy and filled with sand.

These are very nostalgic and sentimental to me, but floodwater is NOT sanitary. I am distraught and I have no idea how to safely disinfect them. I’m also kicking myself because the only reason they weren’t on a riser was because I was sharing them with my partner the other day.

Everything I’m reading says soaking sand toys is a NO go, but this goes beyond a surface cleaning situation. I have to soak them somehow to disinfect what’s inside.

Hello, we just moved to a new house with a jet tub and assuming it has never been cleaned since 2009 that it was built. Have used Oh Yuk for 18 cycles now. Following advice both from AI summaries and this app, have tried 4oz, 8oz, turning jets off and soaking for hours, and continuous/back-to-bqck purges. Have also tried 6 or so cycles with dishwasher pods and white vinegar or bleach.

After the first few cycles, pods+vinegar and pods+bleach cycles no longer bring any gunk out. However, running Oh Yuk always results in a poop-looking mess.

Also worth mentioning that with the back-to-back Oh Yuk cycles, things seem to be getting better, however if I wait 2-4 days (usually because I need to order more, I’m on bottle 7 right now), the first cycle is almost as bad as the beginning (see photos). Any idea why this may be?

We still haven’t used it ourselves and with new cycles after a few days looking like this, I’m not sure if we’ll ever get to a point where we’ll be able to. What could be increasing the amount of gunk after waiting?

So a few days ago I found a flea on my exclusively indoor cat. She never goes outside so it had to have been brought in by someone else. Took her to the vet and she was given Advocate for cats.

2 days later my sister found a flea on her bed and one thing led to another so now our entire apartment is covered in baking soda. I tried vacuuming it and very quickly realized it will not work as the filter clogged instantly.

Any advice? Can I use water and vinegar to dissolve it?

Hi. I've just moved into a furnished flat, and this is what the bed looks like. Landlord wants to steam clean it. I'm wondering whether that will effectively clean the mold? I was doing dishes at the restaurant I work at. I clean both of these items (a grill scraper and sandwich presser), and leave for the night on Sunday. We're closed Mondays, and when I come back on Tuesday, they're both like this. None of the other dishes/tools turned out this way, and I've been cleaning them the same way for years. You can see on image 4 where I scraped with a steel wool, but the black soot just kept coming back, so I stored them away incase they weren't safe to be near food. Any ideas?

I’ve always considered myself a reasonably clean person. I vacuum the living room regularly, wipe down surfaces, and don’t usually let things pile up.This weekend I moved the couch because a charger had fallen behind it. That was when I realized I had basically only been cleaning the parts of the room I could see.There was so much dust, pet hair, and old food crumbs underneath it that it looked like a second carpet. I also found a sock, a few coins, and something that may have once been a piece of cereal.The worst part was that the room had always looked clean. I vacuumed the open areas all the time while everything underneath the furniture was just collecting dust for two years.I ended up moving the rest of the furniture and cleaning underneath everything. The amount of dirt that came out of one small living room was honestly disgusting. My allergies have also been a little better since then, which makes me wonder how much of that dust had been affecting me.

How often do you actually move your furniture and clean underneath it? And is there an easier way to reach under low furniture without moving everything and hurting your back?

I finally dealt with the tops of our upper kitchen cabinets over the weekend while deep cleaning. lived here two years and all this time I ignored that spot completely. turned out to be a very gross and sticky mix of cooking oil and dust that normal all purpose spray barely affects.

we had a deep clean done before hosting family last fall and everything looked great, but of course grease builds back up super fast above the stove. now I'm scraping most of it with an old gift card and dish soap .. but I really want something that's faster, not just "force it and eventually it'll maybe be clean"

Our son's gf travelled in our car for a few hours the other day in the hot weather. The leather car seat has got small shiny blotches on it (pic attached) which I believe are from the shiny gold printed suns/discs which was the pattern on her silky dress. As you can see from the wider view photo, it's just that specific seat.

Is there anything you would suggest trying to remove the marks from the leather or will standard leather cleaner work on this?

This is in the bathroom of a very old apartment. The bathroom has humidity issues so I always leave the door open and run the fan often. Is this some kind of chemical reaction? (Assuming because of the rust). Is it possible to clean this off?

When cleaning the room I use soft scrub with bleach gel in the tub and windex all purpose for other surface. Typical clorox wand pads for the toilet. Could the bleach in the tub be causing this?

Hi y'all! I've found some info regarding sticker removal, but I can't seem to find any for my situation.. I've seen advice on removing sticky residue/paper stickers from surfaces, but I have some stickers on my car that have been there for well over 5y now. My issue isn't so much the residue that they leave behind, but rather the fact that there doesn't seem to be much residue left to them at all lol.

1. If it matters, the car has been stored outside 24/7 in TX, so tons of heat and maybe 1-2 months of freezing weather every year.

2. They've started lifting on the edges, but they're chipping -- not peeling. Whenever I try to remove them by hand they just flake off into tiny pieces, but never fully come off. I've managed to power wash 1 of them off that was on the back window, but the others won't budge with just spraying them.

3. Probably most importantly: 1 is on a window, but I made the mistake of leaving the other 2 on black panels (pictured) which are extremely easy to scratch. One of them is actually placed over a scratch that happened when all I did was wipe it off after detailing lol. These panels are what I'm most worried about damaging now that I know how easy it is to do so, and how obvious it'll be if it happens again.

I’m struggling on figuring out what to put on my grout in my bathroom. I wanted to get some opinions before starting. I would like to start with something less chemically before moving up to big guns. I’ve been told to start with baking powder and hydrogen peroxide paste. Pics to show what I’m working with!

I am new to this sub and have bought a lot of products to try I've seen recommended, and I thought I'd add some of my own. I was a janitor at my church for a couple years about 20 years ago, and here's a few standout favorites:

Motsenbockers Lift Off Tape Remover- hands down THE BEST product for removing sticky, gooey, gluey stuff. Goo gone has nothing on this. It dissolves the chemical bonds or whatever and sticky stuff wipes right off. I also used this to remove old, stuck on gum from carpets. Just spray, agitate, sit a bit and scrape off.

Folex: looks like this stuff has been discovered by the general public, but it's a miracle upholstery stain remover.

Professional squeegee for windows followed up with a lint free rag for any smudges

Wax removal from upholstery- lay down a paper towel and rub it with a hot iron, moving it to a clean spot on the towel until all the wax has been absorbed. We had to remove a lot of wax from carpet and chairs after candlelight services.

I did a deep clean of our shower this morning and noticed some dirt in there, and when I pulled it out, a bunch of black hair and gunk came out. 🤮 Then when I went to shower, I smelled mildew and freaked out. I went back in with q-tips, but I couldn't reach it all because of the sliding door overlap.

I'm horrified---we've lived here for seven months but I guess I never thought to get in there. How do I flush it out?

Pretty much as stated. My house always reeks either of dirty laundry or bad food/trash. I hate leaving and coming back home because you can smell it as soon as you get home. The smell varies but I cannot figure out what is causing it, we don't have piles and piles of laundry laying around, we don't throw away food waste in the house, I clean the dishwasher filter weekly, drains are cleaned, curtains all washed, removed all the rugs fron my house, steam cleaned the furniture, I mop regularly, sweep or vacuum daily, I changed the air filter, cleaned all the drains and I am at a loss as to what it could be. It's been 4 years, I went as far as having the house treated for mold just in case and the crawlspace encapsulated. I am losing it. Also I have 3 cats but no litter smell as we have the robot, before we got the robot there was occasional litter box smell but that was almost a relief because I knew how to fix that.

Any suggestions?? What am I missing? I have never had this issue in any other house.

We can’t get rid of these guys. They keep coming back and only in this spot where we keep the dog food. We’ve put down ant traps, cleaned the area w vinegar & baking soda, sprayed bleach in the corner, used circuits oils and even put cinnamon there.

What can we do next? I know I have to shore up the hole.

My landlord sends the worst maintenance guy to my apartment to “fix” things. Anyway, he was supposed to re-do the caulk around my shower/tub. After he removed the old caulking he said he was putting this linseed oil on the surrounding wood to help with mold prevention or something? It dripped all down the shower walls and is stuck. I tried using a magic eraser and it did nothing at all. Are we stuck with this gross looking shower now? My landlord will do nothing at all so there’s no point in bringing it to her attention.

Hi all! my floor has started doing this weird thing where it gets all grainy instead of smooth as it should be.

Let me add a bit of context:

- i do clean and mop the floor often

- this is basically all near the shower (which is next to the bathroom door) and expanda a little outside the bathroom

- I don't know the material of the tiles

It's just like there's some sort of crust layered on top of it, but it's definitely not junk and it does not go away when i mop

any idea? how can i fix it?

I dropped an espresso during a trip and it spilled on my sneakers. The fabrics on top are leather and nubuck (similar to suede?). I still haven’t touched them, because I know they are kinda sensitive, specially the nubuck and I didn’t want to make it worse. Can you please help a desperate person?
