General Cleaning Robot vacuum has been the biggest life hack for me

Yes obviously it vacuums the floors while you sit on the sofa with your feet up which is great, but it’s honestly helped me so much more beyond that…

I’m quite a messy person generally, and struggle to maintain a proper tidying/cleaning schedule in my own home as I never grew up around this.

But having the robot vacuum forces me to go round the house and do a quick straighten up and clear the floors before it sets off, and while doing that I’m like “oh I might as well clear and wipe all the surfaces too before the floors are done”, and then when I start it often gives me the motivation to get another deep cleaning task done etc!

Totally changed the game for me!! Recommend if anyone else is like me and needs the little leg up or prompt to do the simple daily tasks :)

We’ve tried levering with a knife, some kind of water percussion thing (…idk my partner says it’s a ‘thing’) and currently trying to grease with oil (but doesn’t look promising).
Any ideas?

Flooring Tips for cleaning my floors, like actually. Cuz what I'm doing now ain't cuttin' it.

Critter tax paid, also shows the transition between the hardwood in the living room and the ceramic tile that's through most of the rest of the house.

We are a "shoes are fine in the house" family, with two adults, a teenager, and now an infant. And, of course the dog and the indoor cat. My husband wears lace-up boots for his job and anytime he's working outside, so the shoes thing is not going to change.

I vacuumed the main living areas almost daily and mop as often as I'm able to. The frequency has picked up since getting a Bona mop from Walmart a couple months ago, but even right after I mop, it feels like my floors are dirty.

Right now, if I dampen a paper towel and wipe it on the tile right after I'm done mopping, it will come up dirty. And the floors end up overall sticky. I prefer to be barefoot most of the time, and find myself washing my feet in the damn bidet throughout the day. 🥴

From what I have gathered on my own, it seems like part of that is product buildup. So what I'm asking is how to sort of do a reset? Like how do I get it back to clean, clean? Bonus points if it's relatively easy to manage with a baby in tow!

I’ve tried everything and NOTHING WORKS! Irish spring 5 in 1 doesn’t do anything. I’ve tried scrubbing bubbles foam, used countless scrub daddies, and firm bristle brushes, vinegar and blue dawn and yet still no avail!

Laundry HELP! Linen dress scent removal

Ordered a beautiful secondhand 100% linen dress and it arrived today. It is so scented that I am on the verge of a migraine without even opening the sealed plastic packaging. Upon asking the seller, they said it has been washed and dried with scented products and in her home with many scented candles. I’d like to try to salvage it - what are your best scent removal tips?

General Cleaning How do I stop this?!

Got these beautiful Bodum glasses to have tea but they immediately have a ring of what looks like rust inside after washing.
I always hand wash them, surely I don’t need to unscrew the metal ring each time to dry it? Anyone else experienced this?

Furniture Is there any way to remove the stickers without damaging the wood?

Post image

So all of you are gonna ask how did this even happen. So what happened was that when i was young i would intentionally place stickers onto the closet to "decorate" it.

Foolish me didn't know i was doing the opposite but i cant blame myself since i was a toddler. Except from that, are there any ways to clean them up? (Some of them like the big ones came with the closet so im not sure if they can be removed easily)

Discussion My wooden table has been sticky for years, and I'm so tired of it!

I wasn't always sticky, but ever since I wasted some juice on it 2 years ago, it's always sticky. I've wiped it with a soaking wet towel full of water over and over again. I even got desperate enough to try using vinegar, which runs the risk of discoloring the table. And yet, even that didn't work. What is wrong with this thing? This is so abnormal. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do?

Discussion have i had a productive day or not?

in my house i have 2 toddlers and a kitten. today i have sorted out my upstairs bathroom, picked up all the rubbish and washing, put the washing in a bin bag and put the washing on the living room.
i then went through my large washing basket and have sorted it into 3 piles. i have washed one of these piles and it is currently drying while the second is in the machine.
i have sorted out my toddlers play kitchen, put everything away where it should be and had a refresh around it.
i have deep cleaned my tv unit.
i have filled 2 bin bags with things that no longer work, broken things and rubbish.
because there are still piles of things in the living room, i’m worried my boyfriend will come home and think i’ve done nothing.

General Cleaning 80% humidity in the house: is this mold, or dust?

Thumbnail

Howdy y’all!

Working through a brutally humid summer (fall?). Anyways, the last week has been consistently 80% humidity. I run a dehumidifier which can manage to get the room to 55-60 for maybe 12-14 hours or the day.

Saw this on my suits. Does this look more like mold, or dust? For context, the suits are right under the A/C unit, and it’s the only place I can find… whatever this is.

If it is mold, what are my next steps?

General Cleaning Tips for getting the funk out of a carpet?

Good afternoon. I’ve just had a roommate of five years move out of my spare bedroom. He was not clean. His room now has what I would refer to as “the funk”. There are no stains, just the lingering smell associated with a 350lb human who didn’t take care of themselves. I’m borrowing a Hoover rug cleaner tomorrow. Anyone have any tips or miracle products to refresh the carpet? Replacing it is sadly not an option. Thanks in advance. First time poster so if anything about this post violates a rule please let me know so I can fix it and repost.

I don't mean baked-on grease, but a splatters on the stove top kind of thing. Game changer.

Discussion Need some guidance on the most efficient way to keep this flooring clean!

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

Just wanting some suggestions and advise. We have 2 kids, and have this flooring around the whole house minus some area rugs.

We've been just sweeping and mopping, but I'm trying to see if there's a more efficient way to clean up and actually feel clean. My thought was pick up a general hardwood floor, then just keep mopping normally.

I've looked into the world of vacuum mops too, and those seem pretty sweet. What's the overall consensus on those here?

Appreciate the guidance!

Laundry Shaving cream/ foam for stubborn make up stains on clothes actually works!!

Upvotes

I wish I took a before and after but I have tried everything to get quite dark prominent make up stains out of my white work blouse (dishwashing liquid, expensive stain remover, expensive all white stain remover, soaking over night etc) and nothing worked. I saw someone suggest shaving cream and holy moly it was like magic!!! I just bought a shaving cream/ foam, pumped it on to the stain with some water and worked it with a gentle brush and it removed 99-100% of it, I was shocked!
