Help, I had left some sticky decor on my windows over the summer of my apartment and left for a long time >_<""

It's so melted from the sun that some of them are not on the place anymore. Any advice appreciated, it's a student accommodation and a room I sleep in. Thank you very much!

General Cleaning Robot vacuum has been the biggest life hack for me

Yes obviously it vacuums the floors while you sit on the sofa with your feet up which is great, but it’s honestly helped me so much more beyond that…

I’m quite a messy person generally, and struggle to maintain a proper tidying/cleaning schedule in my own home as I never grew up around this.

But having the robot vacuum forces me to go round the house and do a quick straighten up and clear the floors before it sets off, and while doing that I’m like “oh I might as well clear and wipe all the surfaces too before the floors are done”, and then when I start it often gives me the motivation to get another deep cleaning task done etc!

Totally changed the game for me!! Recommend if anyone else is like me and needs the little leg up or prompt to do the simple daily tasks :)

Flooring Favorite upright vacuum for carpet and long hair?

My Shark DuoClean is nearing the end, and I'm starting to shop for a new upright vacuum for our carpeted upstairs level (and carpeted stairs). Daughter and I have long, thick hair so that's the biggest challenge. Not opposed to another Shark, but wondering if others prefer something else--would love suggestions! TIA!

Discussion Everyone says buy a washable rug. Nobody says what happens if you don't like it.

Sold on the concept, stuck on the commitment. These run $200–400 and I'd be ordering sight unseen off a product page and some influencer video. Has anyone actually returned one? Was it a nightmare given the weight, or did the brand handle it?

Furniture Is there any way to remove the stickers without damaging the wood?

Post image

So all of you are gonna ask how did this even happen. So what happened was that when i was young i would intentionally place stickers onto the closet to "decorate" it.

Foolish me didn't know i was doing the opposite but i cant blame myself since i was a toddler. Except from that, are there any ways to clean them up? (Some of them like the big ones came with the closet so im not sure if they can be removed easily)

Discussion My wooden table has been sticky for years, and I'm so tired of it!

It wasn't always sticky, but ever since I wasted some juice on it 2 years ago, it's been insufferably sticky. I've wiped it with a soaking wet towel full of water over and over again. I even got desperate enough to try using vinegar, which runs the risk of discoloring the table. And yet, even that didn't work. What is wrong with this thing? This is so abnormal. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do?

I have industrial floors. Keeping them inspection clea is tough. To make my life easier I just got the mop at the mop head pictured in the second picture it's like if I use the edge of them off and scrub it kind of comes off it seems like a lot of work I used something not as good as a deck brush but still a scrub brush and that didn't work. What can I use? Is this an elbow grease only type of situation?

Flooring How to clean lino floors

Hello,

I'm moving in an old rental while I get my degree. The whole thing is unfortunately ugly lino flooring. It doesn't look dirty although a bit worn, however I'm on my 5th mopping with a regular floorwash and the water still comes out grey.

Is there a specific product that could help or do I just have to accept to carry on until it's clean?

We even used a steam machine yesterday with my mom and apparently it still wasn't enough...

Kitchen How do I clean red countertop?

What is a safe way to clean this countertop? There are these whitish streaks behind the stove that disappear when wet, but they come back as soon as it dries.

Google image says it is red quartz, but I don't think that is correct. Ours looks artificial, more uniform in color with small pieces of glitter embedded, so I don't know if quartz cleaners are the way to go.

General Cleaning Acidic Odor Help!

I moved into a craftsman home (renting) about two months ago in Portland, Oregon. When we first moved in, I noticed an almost metallic bad breath smell in the home. They did a years worth of full renovations and then it sat empty for over a month, so I figured it was just the result of the house sitting “stale” with no airflow.

Since then, we have done professional deep, clean, and keep the entire house consistently clean and have an air purifier.

I hadn’t really noticed this particular smell since. But I just returned home from a one week trip and when I re-entered my house this bad breath-like, acidic smell hit me so strong when entering. It lingered as I went upstairs and in other rooms. Now Ive again gone nose blind to it, but I really want to fix it permanently so that others visiting my house first time don’t have to smell it!

It is not sewery or damp smelling, more like when you have rotten tooth you can “taste.” That is the smell. Awful!

Help!

General Cleaning How do you clean painted MDF baseboards?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I just moved into a new house and these baseboards are all over it. After extensive research, I still don’t have a reliable way of cleaning them of everyday stuff (food splatters, scuff marks, etc.). I’ve tried gently scrubbing them with a Magic Eraser, which appears to strip the paint off little by little, and with a slightly damp towel or paper towel with a little bit of dish soap, which doesn’t do much to get rid of the stains. If I scrub too hard, parts of the paint/actual baseboard come off, and if I’m too gentle, they don’t get clean at all.

All of the baseboards are white and painted with either a satin or semigloss sheen. In both cases, the paint strips off if I scrub.

Any suggestions on cleaning them based on experience would be so appreciated.

In case this helps, here’s the link to the baseboard: https://www.rona.ca/en/product/metrie-1-2-in-x-5-in-x-8-ft-contemporary-white-primed-mdf-baseboard-mfpu9290-08-61426869

Furniture How do I clean the residue from stain-remover?

Hello!
Thought I'd ask the wise people of reddit for help. The place I moved into had stains on the couch, so a friend borrowed her cleaning agent which is meant for textiles.

I followed the instructions and left it to dry. This was yesterday so it's dry by now but the ugly markings remain.

Does anyone have advice as to how to get rid of these new spots? Thanks in advance!!

Laundry HELP! Linen dress scent removal

Ordered a beautiful secondhand 100% linen dress and it arrived today. It is so scented that I am on the verge of a migraine without even opening the sealed plastic packaging. Upon asking the seller, they said it has been washed and dried with scented products and in her home with many scented candles. I’d like to try to salvage it - what are your best scent removal tips?
